I honestly can not tell you how many projects I've ended up with extra loops at the end of row 1. YOU MEAN TO TELL ME ALL I HAD TO DO IS CUT THAT ISH OFF?!? Why is this such a tightly held secret in the chet community?!? My dear.... You are an absolute crochet SORCERESS in my book for showing me that utter yarn magic of cutting that off and it just works!? SIGH..... I could've saved many sleepless nights and shedded tears over thinking I had to pull out all 245 or however many stitches cuz I had a few pesky extras at the end. And sad part is.... Usually I had no clue where the extras came from. Started thinking I was just damned by the yarn gods or something. THANK YOU SO DAMN MUCH YOU ROCKSTAR!!!! new sub here on this alone.
Your comment makes me so happy!
It’s wild, but I’ve only learned this trick in the last 5 years. It does make a HUGE difference in working on projects with extremely long chains.
Nobody wants to recount that! Haha!
Thank you for subscribing. I hope you find more project you enjoy on my channel.
I always do my start chains this way. Regardless of the pattern, I make a chain as long as I need it plus some extra's, then just unpick the chains I don't use. It eliminates having to count as you chain. Learned this from J's Knit and Pearl Jam channel and it changed by crochet life.
I get a few people hating on this method but it really does help SO MUCH! Thank you for watching and commenting!
One of my favorite stitches. I like that you stitch 7 DC not 5 for the fan. The 7DC just makes full beautiful fans. Great tutorial!!! Thank you 💖
Yes! Me too! Love the 7 vs the 5! So happy you liked this video. Thank you for watching and commenting 💕
New crocheter. I like this stitch. Learned a lot. The name makes me think of the ocean.
This pattern is so much easier to get started if you make a base of all single crotchets in all chain stiches working in increments of 8 plus two chains. Pluss, it looks so much nicer to have that bit of an edge.
Yes! This is a great idea! Thank you for watching and commenting.
I tried both...your idea is great! Thanks for sharing! Love this stitch pattern.
Timestamps for rows 2-5 for reference

Row 3: 5:44

Hi Jonna, I love this pattern. The 7 stitch shells totally changes the look off the blanket. Elegant 💕

Can you give me the multiple?? Thanks a bunch.

I'm doing the beautiful shells blanket at the moment and was wondering how to do it as a wrap/rectangular blanket. Thank you 😊
I have a shells of one color blanket rectangle blanket as a rectangle crochet from the center blanket. Check videos on my channel.
I’m happy to hear you’re interested in this pattern too! Thank you for watching and commenting.

Great to hear! Thank you for watching and commenting.
I am so happy to have found you!! You make everything so easy to understand. I love your voice and the way you instruct. Thank you so much. I am soon-to-be 81 yrs old and getting old Alzheimer’s, but I have no problem following you. Now I just need to buy the yarn and get with it! Is it possible for you to tell me how much yarn I need for my best friend that will also be 81 later
on this year. We went through high school, marriages, babies, etc together all these year
Could you please tell me how much yarn I will need and 11:59 what size hook I will need. You 11:59 sound so sweet 11:59 and are a great teacher. Thank you for your help.
Hello! I am so happy to hear you enjoyed this tutorial and want to make your long time friend a blanket. That is going to be a fun project.
I like to use worsted weight or DK weight yarn for this blanket and then you can use any hook you are comfortable with once you choose your yarn. Typically with that yarn I will use a 4.5mm, 5mm or 5.5mm.
For a nice sized blanket I would suggest 1800-2500 yards.
I like to pick a yarn I can just buy more of. This way if you want it bigger you can just grab a few more skeins.
Thank you for watching and commenting!
Hi again Jonna! I love the patern, I learnt it thanks to your tutorial. I'm very grateful and I can't wait to crochet a blanket!

Wonderful to hear!! Thank you for watching and commenting. ❤️❤️❤️
I like this shell better than the standard 5 double crochet shell. This one has a fan and elegance feel.
Me too! Thank you for watching and commenting.
For my own sanity for the future when I make my blanket: Row 2 starts at 3:39
Working on this now ! Can you show us a border for this pattern?
I worked a multiple of 6 chains plus 2. I started with a 6mm hook, then single crocheted into the chain. I moved to a 5mm for the shell body. Kept it straight and not tight along the chain. Really lovely pattern. Thanks 😊
That’s wonderful! I’ve been crocheting with this pattern a lot lately too. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Is this good for the ladies scarf. Pattern is so beautiful I love it. Thanks
Thank you this is great, do you have a written pattern? X
That's absolutely beautiful and what a stunning colour x 💕
I love this color too!! Thank you so much for watching and commenting ❤️

Traducir al está

I love your tutorial! Is this like multiples of 8 in this pattern? I can’t wait to start my project!
Muito obrigada por dizer os multiplos, porque ela não colocou na tela para a gente ver.
Thank you so much 💝
Thank you for watching!! ❤️
Jonna what a beautiful color yarn. What brand and color are you using in this tutorial? THANK YOU
Unfortunately this is an old discontinued yarn I was just trying to use up. 😢
Hello Jonna, are you able to show me a pattern of slouchi hat,and a bonnet hat, it will be awesome, thanks you ahead Jonna ✌💝🎀
Thanks again I learned a lot
Wonderful to hear! Thank you for watching and commenting.
Muito bonito,obrigada por compartilhar
Obrigado por assistir! Estou feliz que você gostou deste vídeo!
Thank you it's lovely, but following a pattern for a jacket, I'm going wrong somewhere as it's getting wider and wider at the sides as I go up,and it's supposed to be straight ,help!
Hmmmmm…. I would start counting the V st row. You must be adding as you go.
Also try contacting the pattern writer, you could send photos and they might be able to spot the issue.
Good luck!
A jacket in this stitch will be lovely!

@@JonnaMartinezCrochet thank you so much for replying ☺
Do you happen to know how to add a straight border to your shell pattern?
Matching nails and scissors😮
Not me just coming from doing an amiagurumi project thinking double crochet meant increase and then failing like ten times searching for a video that made sense😂😂😂😭😭😭
I am making this almost identicle pattern in a tie front top by DMC and I am really struggling with the front
shaping, I love the pattern but getting frustrated
Ugh that’s so hard!
I hope it works out for you! Thank you for watching.
How many ch you make.trying to make a scarf
It depends on your yarn, you can use any yarn for this. Make a chain as long as you like then just cut the extra off like i show in the video. Most scarves are around 8-12” wide depending on material.
Thank you for watching and commenting.
I'm sure this is great and I'm just stupid. I can't seem to do literally Any of if . I slow down I watch and just in tears . That's so pretty I just can't do it
That’s terrible! I’m going to suggest you try this stitch in the round first here: How To Crochet Shells Of One-Color Blanket |Beautiful shells stitch in one color-advanced beginner

Hello Jonna
Hello Connie! Thank you for watching!
Im probably dumb but is this not 2 row repeat
I made a shawl with this stitch and I couldn't wait for it to end because it was so boring.
Not saying it isn't a beautiful stitch ps.....I guess I just like the ones where a mistake could happen if you look at it wrong.
Well you might find this more challenging as it has 4 repeat rows instead of 2 🥰
@@JonnaMartinezCrochet Well of course I'll try it!! I haven't found one of your stitches that isn't worth it!
Too fast I need to write as I go
you can not say chain any number give a number of chains my god learn how to do a video
Actually I can say that.I’ll say it again, You can chain the length you need for your project in this pattern and once you get to the last single crochet you can cut off the extra chain.
This makes it easy to be creative and helps when you don’t want to count 100’s of chains.
How many ch you make.trying to make a scarf
As many as you want your scarf to be. 8-12 inches is a good start. Thanks for watching!
