Thank you! I hated the look of the strangled foundation chain, so I added a row of single crochet on top of it. So much better.
Can you explain to me how to do that? I am new and am confused with there being an add 2 for the turning stitches?
Exactly. So did you make a foundation chain of multiples of 6 + 3 ?
I really like your tutorials. Your voice is calm and clear, directions likewise clear. It makes it so much easier to learn. Thank you!
This is what keeps me coming back to this channel for crochet tutorials again and again!
Thank you, Sarah! I had been having a really tough time with this stitch but was finally able to get it with your video. Wonderful tutorial!
Me and my mom are gonna use this stitch to make a blanket with verigated (no idea how to spell it-) yarn. We aren't even done with the chain yet, but it's so pretty already! I'll update you as we continue by editing my comment
I 💕 texture, shell stitches - and your channel. Whenever I’m looking for a new stitch, you come up with the perfect one. Thank you!
You’re welcome!
Believe it or not, I FINALLY learned how to crochet - I love to sew, knit, draw, design etc. And made all kinds of things once I learned. Then haven't crochet in a while (about a year) and totally forgot how to do a shell stitch. Watching this it came back, but I will have to watch it again, to make sure I CAN. Looks so complicated, I can't believe how easily it came to me once - With knitting I learned as a little girl & never forgot. This I learned a few years ago, and made SO many things & without practice I forgot how - Daah!? Funny how the brain works!? Thanks for the video. Namaste🙏From USA!!
Such a wonderful stitch! Starting a baby blanket tomorrow. I can’t wait! 💝
Hi am sorry for the introduction in your comment but I find You're attractive and interesting I don't know if we could be friends so we can get to know each other more better thank you🙏
thanks for this video. I love how it is nice and close so us beginners can see exactly where to put the hook.
Wanted to learn this stitch and found your video. It was so easy to follow along. Will come back to check out your other tutorials. Thank you! 🤗
Thanks for teaching a new stitch, with a clear voice and direction. Should teach tutorial on tops or cardigan patterns

You’re welcome
Beautiful stitch. Thank you for sharing. I always look forward to your tutorials.
Wow thanks so much for teaching me this!!! Im new to crochet 🌎 so definitely appreciate this!!
Hi
This may sound a little weird, but I love the sound your wooden hook makes when you work with it, it’s as if it comes to life when it’s working. Weird, huh?
It weird at all! I love it too! And it’s partially why I don’t edit it out lol
No, please don’t do that! I love that particular Furls design & would treat myself occasionally, but the shipping prices to the UK are outrageous! I’ll keep checking eBay for now.
chrissie hardman shipping prices are terrible (to Canada also)! I watch for their sales! They had an amazing one at the start of November for the wooden streamline that I like so I splurged :)
I’ve never seen a sale on! Must watch for that! I’m making the wrap I was raving about & I love it! I used the same yarn and shade as yours, I think it’s called “Lucky Penny?” You’re right, it does feel like cotton. I needed to make it longer than yours so ordered three cakes, I’m a little bit in love, I have to say. Thank you.
You all prolly dont give a shit but does someone know of a trick to log back into an instagram account..?
I was dumb lost the account password. I appreciate any help you can give me!
So pretty Sarah. Tyfs God bless you

Thank you for sharing your beautiful work, is there a border for this?
What hook is that? The glide and sound are so satisfying.
love it
Sarah this sounds silly but how do you know what to put on each rows at the end I get confused of what to put at the beginning of each row
Beauiful stitch for got about this stitch made it quite awhile ago. Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome :)
lovely
is there any way to do increases & decreases while working this stitch?
Thank you! Do you know why mine doesn't stay flat. It curls...???
What, if any, kind of a border would you suggest for a baby blanket made using this stitch pattern? Thx 😀
Could you use a fountain single crochet to start.
What type of yarn are you using and how many spoon of yarn you have to use for the solid shell stitch pattern
Do you have a video of how to add a border to this blanket?
Terrific work, appreciate this. Subscribed!
Thank you so much for subscribing!
Hi, Sarah, I wanted to buy your PDF pattern for this stitch. I went on Etsy and could not find it by this name. Do you have it listed under a different name besides the solid shell stitch? Ty ❤
❤️
I love your patterns. May I suggest, instead of skip two stitches then in the next chain **** to skip 3 and double crochet into that 3 rd chain. Must be getting older than I thought I am. I've pulled this apart more times than I would have a year ago.. before it dawned on me, skip 2 an crochet in next stitch. Lol I best tell my doctor, I think I am losing it. Also I have made this many times over the last 4 years.
I would like the written patter
This is so lovely ❤️❤️❤️ will it be possible to increase and decrease this stitch??
I get a big stitch gap between the sc and the first dc of the shell and I think it looks bad. Any tips on how to reduce it? Your example does not have it.
Maybe try to pull the loop on your hook tighter before you pull the loop through the chain?? That hasn't happened to me, but that's the only thing I can think of
Edit: I just realized your comment is 4 months old and you probably don't need my advice anymore 😅
I would like more details about the yarn I look for it and I can't find it
Please Help :( I have big gaps going from all the 5th dc in shell stitch to the sc. I cannot find a way to keep the stitches tight for that solid shell pattern
Can I used this pattern on shawl
Hermoso, pero agradecería enormemente sí puede poner subtítulos en español, lo agradeceríamos miles 🙋🏼♀️🙏🏻
Does anyone know how to increase or decrease on this stitch? I can't seem to figure it out. For increases, I tried: @ beginning of row 2, I did 5 DC vs 3DC. But when I go back for row 3, I dont have the SC to put 5 DC at the end... so maybe I need to do 6 DC? (I hope this make sense) help~~~
I have been having the same struggle and ive been looking all over to see if theres any method online but so far ive had no luck🥺🥺🥺
@@chloeburke737 I think I figured it out. Instead of 3 DC at the beginning of the row, I did 5 DC & SC in the 2nd ST. And then continued as usual with the 5 DC in the SC and so-forth.
For decreases, I'm still figuring that out.
@@kyliethao4161 thank you I'm going to try this. If you've figured the decrease bit please let us know I'd be grateful xx
I was hoping to use this stitch to make a tote. Unfortunately I'm working from the bottom up (from the base up) so the shells would be going the wrong way. 😭 Does anyone know a work around?
Making leg warmers for my aunt Shell with this stitch and I hope she gets the joke and hates it
Hello how to increase in Shell stitch 🌸🌸
How many stitches for baby blanket
Can I add a picture of this stitch
How to decrease on this stitch?
Could you please let me know where can I to by this yarn. Thank you
You can find this yarn on the Yarnspirations website :)
How many yards for the blanket
I haven’t calculated how much you’d need for a blanket - this is just the swatch :) you can google a Shell Stitch blanket and then use their given amounts as a guide
Where can I get the written pattern?
For this one (and most of the older tutorials) I do not have written patterns available yet. It’s on my todo list for the summer :)
Is there a way to decrease shells?
I don't think so
Do you have a video that shows how to change yarns?
I do! You can check out this video here: ua-cam.com/video/AiYbOSCo65E/v-deo.html
Rich Textures Crochet I did check out the video & it was helpful. Thanks!
Is there a way to slow down the video? I’m two steps behind which is a lot when trying to follow!
Yarn size?
I've been crocheting for years but got confused on the turn around
Did anyone write the pattern down?
Row evens: 4:05
Row odds: 6:00
I love the pattern, but the sound of that yarn scraping across that wooden hook is very annoying.
Pretty, but I’ll look somewhere else. I can’t understand why crocheters still use Ravelry after the horrible, mean and bigoted things the husband and wife said about half the people of this country.
Ma'am could you go a bit slow it's very difficult to learn when u r a beginner
You can slow the videos down if you need to.
Just tap the screen and tap on the three dots in the top right corner and adjust the speed
@@virgoearlgrey ok thanks
@@ashmitamukherjee2034 hope it helps
You go too fast !
