When made properly, this kit is ludicrously satisfying and relaxing to play with. It's sort of like a jelly zen garden and you can spend ages arranging the figures inside, or use your own charms, seashells or glitter! However it was much harder to put together than expected, and this also made the video much more complex than planned. I ended up having to do a ton of research about different types of water and polymers. Spoiler: This is not a slime but a super absorbent type of plastic called sodium polyacrylate. The "jelly" texture simply comes from the fact that the polymer powder has absorbed so much water that it expanded and thickened the texture of the liquid. This is very different to PVA which requires borate to break down the polymer chains before it can form a slime.

Getting sodium polyacrylate to turn crystal clear is a challenge in itself. It seems to be very sensitive to mineral content in the water (aka hard water), with a higher level of minerals causing the jelly to look cloudy or not to set at all. This was complicated by some confusing instructions which recommended bottled water instead of distilled water. EDIT: Thank you to those viewers who mentioned that a lot of bottled water in the USA IS distilled water! I never knew that since almost every brand in Europe is mineral or spring water. (However I was in the US recently and brands like Evian, Perrier and San Pellegrino are widely sold everywhere. Searching for "distilled water" on Amazon also brings up tons of results for mineral water :/)
1) Jellfetti Powder doesn't dissolve
After watching a few YT videos, I realised that most creators seemed to have bigger problems getting the powder to dissolve rather than the clarity of the jelly. This is easily fixed by using the method in the instructions which is shaking everything in a large bottle. Don't mix the powder in a bowl and don't use a bottle that's too small. The water also needs to be room temperature, not cold out of the tap.
2) Mixture doesn't jellify
Water used is too hard. Sadly there's no way to reverse this step so that's why I'd recommend using distilled water from the start rather than risk it with tap water. If using bottled water, check carefully that it's distilled and not mineral (Evian, San Pellegrino & Fiji Water won't work!)
3) Mixture jellifies but looks very cloudy
Same as above. I would have found it more accommodating if the kit contains two packets of Jellfetti powder. That way, people can have a second attempt if something goes wrong which, based on the all the reviews and videos, seems to happen to the majority of users on their first try.

To all the people thinking hard water is ice:
Hard water is water with a crap ton of minerals in it, I think. Mineral water has even more minerals than hard water.
Hard water can be ice, if used in the proper phrasing.
I can't believe this had to turn into a science experiment to get right! The manufacturer was better off just saying to use distilled water from the get go. So glad you were able to get it right and show us!
if it was a science experiment it wouldn't have directions. they would just give you ingredients and be like "explore, do science. don't know what will happen but hey. good luck" honestly seems like a toy I would buy.

The hard water / mineral water/ bottled water distinction is fairly common knowledge in US communities with hard water. Hard water can mess up certain recipes, and makes things difficult to clean. A lot of bottled water in the US is tap water from places that don't have hard water, so bottled water generally works for these applications here. But, for something like that, I'd buy distilled water right off the bat, though I may not be the average consumer in this regard (I have dealt with a lot of water issues due to having an aquarium).
I personally feel like it's more common depending where you are in the US. I've dealt with hard water and crappy City water my whole life so I know to use distilled or filtered water for things like this. Others who live in areas with better water, probably wouldn't think about it.
Im from the us and my first thought was to use distilled water, but thats because i have an interest in chemistry and know that chemicals or minerals in non distilled water can ruin experiments

After watching this video I ordered the green set ( it has dinosaurs!) and I followed your instructions. I was disappointed at first, because after mixing the distilled water and the powder, the solution was super cloudy (I couldn't see my hand, like in your earlier attempts). However, it all worked out, and e everything had cleared up by the 15 minutes of waiting. Thanks for the hard work!

I’m waiting right now, I put In the powder and it was very cloudy, but now it’s been about 3 minutes and it’s cleared up a bit, I hope it turns out crystal clear
just to make it clear, by hard water it DOES NOT mean ice. It’s a type of water, for example, illinois has hard water, but some other states have a different type of water where it feels a bit oilier called “soft water”.
I first watched this in the begining of the year and FINALLY i was able to buy this so now i have to revisit this video to see how to do it bec I remember it being very difficult to make

Strange! We had these toys when I was a kid (in the '90s) and never had any trouble with them. Has technology worsened in 30 years?! XD I had a whale seascape and I think my brother's was a shark one with blood. We did have soft water, haha!

This is kind of ridiculous. If the toy is so sensitive to the type of water you use, they should sell the water with it in the box, so then it would be fool proof. No kid or parent will figure that out by themselves without buying a bunch of them and trying it out like you did. This is misleading and disrespectful to the consumers. Thanks for sharing this tutorial and figuring it out for us! I would probably have ruined my toy if I tried it by myself lol

If this is an American kit, the instructions about bottled water make sense. Our bottled water is usually just distilled water and mineral water is specifically labeled and not very popular, although it's getting trendy right now.

amazing how cultural differences can impact even things like kids crafts! i just found your channel and i love your videos :) i do know about hard/soft water but idk if thats a typical american experience or not, but theres no such thing as "baby water" here so that threw me for a loop! i thought it a great contrast to illustrate the point on how "common sense" varies so much between different places and people.
oh! also usually bottled water thats mineral water in the US is labeled and sold as specifically "mineral water", whereas most bottle waters unlabelled are soft.
There is baby water here in the states.There’s usually a baby on the label and It’s marketed for use in making formula. It’s also sometimes called nursery water.

This is an old video, and I'd guess you'd have gotten the point by now because SOO many comments are pointing this out, but Jelli Worlds was from an American manufacturer and was intended for an American audience. In the US, mineral water and bottled water are seen as VASTLY different because the majority of bottled water brands here are distilled. Hard water is tap water, mineral water is nutritious water that many dieters here drink, and bottled water is plain ol' distilled water. (Also, the Baby Water does not have *zero* minerals like distilled water. It just has *less minerals* than mineral water.)

In the US, almost nobody drinks mineral water. Only rich people. Most of our bottled water is just filtered tap or spring water, depending on the brand. Since it is likely marketed majorly in the US, that might be how the wrote the instructions.
