Niching down is also market dependent. I operate in a very small city on a very small island. As a freelancer I really find it hard to say no to jobs outside of the niche I want to be in…ie corporate work, currently I do weddings, graduations, funerals and social media content. BUT! You are correct about marketing in the niche that you want to be in.
Finding and catering to a niche' is great because you don't need a broad cross-section of tools you need to buy and update over time - less need to keep reinvesting in more gear etc etc
@@myvideoguy yes! I meant to go over that topic but I completely agree. And the tools can be higher quality since your funds do not have to be spread out over so many items.
Agreed man. Trying out everything in the beginning is great. Then you figure out what you’re good at / what you enjoy. Of course, I’ll still do random jobs but my type of work is pretty consistent. And you can make more money specializing in 1-2 spaces as opposed to being decent at 5.
That iPhone connector scared me on the DJI mic, and that's why I stuck with the Wireless GO IIs, as that cable is a simple USBC, replaceable and smaller overall footprint. I wish the DJI mic had the option to use the USBC on it like the RODE.
@@DavidMonostori I would argue the DJI mic has a smaller footprint since there’s no cables and everything is connected. With the rode you have to hold the RX, dangle it off the cable, get a cold shoe or make your phone into a rig. For the DJI, I just need to disconnect it before I smash it in my pocket 😂
Biggest piece of advice when signing other companies Work For Hire contracts is that you can (and should) ask for changes if something doesn't look right or align with your business. I have had it before where small clauses asked for ridiculous terms or are meant for different types of work, where it doesn't work with video timelines, etc.
Another thing to add about contracts that get sent to you...they are contracts sent by people who are not lawyers (yes, a lawyer originally crafted it most likely) and are literally just sending you something that someone else agreed too without reading it. But, you'll find that most clients will understand your concerns when you state why you don't agree with something and accept your changes or compromise.
@@shueibdahir I’m aware. If you listen through the video, it switches from mono to stereo. I’m curious how the settings could have switched when I was only hitting the record button and not touching menu settings.

@@ikechadmedia3116 Yes, that is a strong factor. Some markets don’t have the traffic to support specialist roles.
Just a heads up that nothing is coming out of one of the audio channels. Love your vlogs.❤
