I like how they included the first classmate saying 'everyone is treated the same,' and once Light does his speech the other classmates actually say what they want. Light as a character is fascinating and I love it, and I love these songs.
This is a GREAT SONG! Oddly, it could work to describe the motives of at least 70% of superheroes and 10% of villains. If Batman sang in his teens, he would’ve sung this.
Drowned Life I’m not saying that out of people it would work for a portion are heroes and another are villains; I mean that, out of all heroes, this song would work for some of them and the same for the bad guys.
Ironically, Japan has the opposite problem. This is probably more relevant in countries like the United States, which follow the philosophy of "better to free the guilty than punish the innocent".
Except the American establishment still punishes people for victimless crime depending on which state you live in, so it's really more like "let's punish those who can't afford to buy out their screw-ups"
I think the lyrics were changed in the adaptation, rather than direct translation they changed it to be relatable to US culture as well, hence this song being different. I read that somewhere..
@@kaleidoscope5054 actually the musical was written in English, and then translated into Japanese for the Tokyo debut. It took over 8 years for it to be professionally preformed in English.
Got that right! It's like the song that applies to the fact that our world allows slides for those that can be rich enough to buy their way out while those who can't get pounded down harder!
Light Classmate #2 needs more appreciation.

That was his teacher who said that.

Okay I was just curious
Drowned Life no problem
I always think of this as such a Robin song, but specifically Red Hood
I have just slightly more sympathy for Light despite my hate for him.

Yeah, Like what's happening this year 😔
This aged like fine wine

The best part of this song is how applicable it is to real life
