The problem in Japan is that if you're a cop/detective who's investigating someone with influence before they can even get to trial their bosses, bosses, boss has put down the chain to shut you down or you're fired.

​@Tomohiko_Tatsuno yeah, it goes both ways. Why is it so high? Sure the prosecution might be extremely skilled at convicting everyone, but there's also the chance that cases that should go to court are dropped because it's not as likely to be a done deal.
