The song begins with two Shinigamis (gods of death), Ryuk and Rem talking about how pitiful humans are because of the pointless actions that they do such as “confusing fate with chance” and “blaming fate for their lives.” The Shinigamis point out that they do this because “they’re only human” and they can’t change.
