    For anyone tying this fly, there are 2 modification I would make compared to the video.
    1. Use a slotted tungsten bead if using jig style hook. It will sit better on a jig hook.
    2. The silver wire I use in the video is a little thicker than it could be. It was a .008" or 0.2mm wire. I would recommend a thinner wire to keep that thin profile. I now go with .004" or 0.1mm silver wire.

      @@WhiteDogTrailCompany I understand, these days just don’t seem to be able to push enough time aside to tie and fish. Hopefully this next few months will level out so I can do some layovers and fish Wyoming and South Dakota, Colorado the 3rd week of July. Are there going to be any more of the euro fishing series. I bet those are really time eaters. Looking forward to whatever comes down the line

      YES! Definitely more coming in the Euro Series on the more advanced side. I'm doing a lot of fly tying videos so I'll be ready for the Fly Selection video. And there will be more "breaking down water" videos. Someone had a great idea of "When to NOT Euro Nymph" which I'm planning as well. On the adventure side I have some good stuff planned this year. If my kids go on a trip they're supposed to do, my wife and I will be free and are planning on heading to Maine for a week where we'll film the whole adventure. It's a trial run for what we want to do in retirement and even the summers after the kids are gone. Our plan is to travel, fish and film our adventures!

    I've done similar to this in my euro nymph selection. The really cool thing is you can tie a super tiny body to imitate size 20-22 midges while still using a bigger bead and hook. Still quite effective for those fish keying on smaller midges.

      You won't have to wait long. The next video planned is a small stream trip from last summer that I never got together.

    Another solid video! As far as feedback for future content: more first-person play-by-plays of sighter revealing a fish-on. Love em'! Thanks again.

      Yeah! I really enjoyed doing that! I need good camera work to really capture that well... but I definitely plan on more of that.

      Well... I did get the pattern from over in your neck of the woods! 🙂 Have you ever targeted grayling? Would love to see you do that! Not sure if that is an Ireland thing or not.

    I've been having a lot of success with this fly recently by replacing the tail CDL with just 2 strands of red krystal flash. I've seen it called an inferno midge elsewhere, but I tie it exactly like a zebra midge perdigon just with that one replacement.

    • @WhiteDogTrailCompany
      @WhiteDogTrailCompany  Рік тому

      That sounds awesome! I might give that a try next time! Thanks!

      I use red flash on my Pheasant tails too. I call it my Red-Tail Sniper. When they're biting, they hit it hard.

    Great video, I really like the idea of the flash materials and will tie some using Krystal Flash.

    • @WhiteDogTrailCompany
      @WhiteDogTrailCompany  2 роки тому

      That would be a great ribbing material! The wire makes the fly a little thicker once you add the resin. Krystal Flash would keep the profile smaller!

    BTW, it amazes me the capital district doesn't have a local fly shop. Nice to see Glenville get one but Albany area is so nicely located.

      We had Goldstocks for many years but they suddenly closed one day and that was it. I literally pulled into their parking lot to find a sign on the door. 😢 Fly Shack is great but they're probably almost an hour away from me.

    What I have learned sing sally Hanson clear & UV coatings. To keep from getting so much liquid on my flies is to trim about 2/3 to 3/4 of Brussels off as soon as I get a new bottle. I pull the brush out clean liquid off and use my scissors or razor blade. I seem to have more control of my application with it that way. Hope this helps

      I patterned this fly after one I got in a fly swap with someone from the UK. They used a very similar black perdigon for grayling in their waters. So I know it is a grayling catcher too 🙂
