This is honestly one of the best videos I’ve seen in a while. No matter if you’re just starting out or been fishing for 20 years, this video has some great information in it! Awesome video!
Definitely want to see a beginners guide for Euro nymphing. I've done it once in Wyoming a few years back, and actually caught some browns on it. I was with an experienced person who kind of spoon fed me along, but now I usually fish alone and want to master this technique on my own. Thanks for doing this!
WOW, and I mean WOW!! I have watched countless videos. shh I'm at work. ha. You gave me so much confidence that I can do whatever you're teaching. you are an natural and talented instructor. I've been fly fishing for decades. My buddies and I decided to learn to Euro Nymph. I am super excited to get out there and fish, plus I'm telling everyone to subscribe to your channel. I appreciate your dedication and instruction for the preservation of the fish. Great illustration: "you just ran a half marathon and held under water". Keep up the Great work. FISH ON!
Hey White Dog, after watching many videos on Euro Nymphing, I stumbled across your channel this morning. You nailed it! Your "just give me the facts" style is the best common sense relatable video on Euro Nymphing. Great job, and yes a more detailed video please!
Great video! Been euro nymphing for years snd there are some great nuggets of wisdom in this video. If you are new to the euro game watch this video a couple of times; think about all of the individual elements. ( several of the tips have multiple elements to them.) Then apply ALL of the elements when you go fishing, and you will be well on your way. Of all of the tips, the first is key! If your flies are not heavy and near the bottom, you aren’t going to catch many fish. ( Getting hung up on the bottom often/from-time-to-time is one way of knowing you flies are down deep enough!)
Great video. Long time fly fisherman, but since I have been Euro Nymphing (December 2020) it has expanded my fly selections, the water I fish, and greatly increased the number of trophy-sized fish I have caught. It has been over a year since I have used an indicator and I do not miss it at all. One great tip for all Euro Nymphing anglers is to take your favorite streamers and tie them on a jig hook and use them as your anchor fly. This really works when the water gets off colored or the wind picks up. My favorite setup is a heavy fly on the dropper and putting a weightless soft hackle 20-24 inches behind it on the point. I catch doubles all the time and for some reason that soft hackle often coaxes the big ones into biting. The best thing you said, other than set the hook on everything, was using your rod to fight the fish. I have caught fish in the 8-9 pound class (well 1) and dozens of 4-5 pound fish on my 10' 3 wt using 5x and 6x tippet. I bet my landing percentage has gone up to over 90% since using the 3wt vs my 5wt. Let that rod bend brothers and sisters and you will use your net more often.
Dry fly fished for decades and just bought a 10 foot 3 weight euro nymphing setup. I have tied my own flies for about 3 years. I just tied a bunch of flies with tungsten beads and lead wrap...and I am looking forward to going euro nymphing for the first time. Thanks for all the great info...I hope I can execute.
Just enjoy the process! I think you'll find it very a very effective way to fish! I find way more and bigger fish this way. I still llove a rise to a dry fly but euro nymphing is my go to technique!
Just getting into Euro Nymphing and appreciate all of the tips! You have a great way of explaining topics and I look forward to trying the oval casting technique. I've definitely had issues with tangles with heavier EN flies.
I've heard that advice a lot too and I never liked it because it's really not true. It takes time and basically ruins the drift. It's like saying "false casts are free, do a lot of them." Well, at the end of the day if you spend half your day false casting, you're only going to catch half as many fish. I think a lot of fishermen do miss strikes, we just need a better saying than that. I would say get better at figuring out when you have a strike would do you well, and don't fish with your nymphs constantly dragging the rocks so you don't mistake a strike for a rock so often! The best fishermen I know do it that way.
@@spikeconley Your point about being able to determine the difference between a strike and a rock is dead on! And you're right... you will ruin drifts by setting the hook when it isn't a fish. BUT... this video is really intended for people who are newer to euro nymphing and they fail to set the hook way too much and lose a lot of fish because of it. For a beginner I would always have them set the hook if there is any doubt. Once they hook enough fish and also hook bottom enough times they can start to differentiate between a take and bottom. When we do the Euro Series we will go into this in much more depth and definitely address exactly what you mentioned!
These videos are so incredible, I am one that one of those that is trying to learn as much as you can teach me about Euro Nymphing. I am 30 yrs., USArmy military ret., and combat disabled, after 9 operations I still want to go Euro Nymphing. I am one of your supporters and have been trying to keep-up with your beginning Euro videos. I work through our PROJECT HEALING WATERS, teaching fly casting, fly tying, fly fishing, and counseling PTSD to combat veterans and families. After my Baghdad combat injuries, losing my Commander, soldiers and friends as a convoy gunner has made walking and using my arms a bit difficult, but I am stubborn and refuse to quit. My tying skills are not near your quality, thank you, MSG Leum
I'm sorry you have gone through what you have. I hope you are able to get out on the water for some physical and mental healing this year! The skills will come with time but just enjoy being out there!
I used to be a dry fly or streamer only fisherman I literally have boxes of nymphs that I maybe used a half dozen or so. Never was able to have enough confidence to just go for it with the tight line euro nymphing. This video made so much sense and I made all of these mistakes. After watching this I tried to go out with only nyphing gear in my vest one more time. I am hooked now I feel like I was missing out all this time. I caught and had more hook ups than ever before, on a piece of water that I’ve never caught more 2 or 3 fish in a trip. Thank you this is way better than any other informational videos I’ve seen up until this point. Subscribed!!!!
THIS!!!! Is exactly why I do the channel! Stories like yours are what drives me 😀 Congrats to you on a great day but more so an evolution of your fishing! I was exactly like you until I learned how to do this. It has literally changed my life and I LOVE it! I wish you all the best and thank you for sharing your story!
I like that idea! Believe it or not it is much simpler than one would think. Check out my fly tying videos and you'll see a lot of what I use. I do have some more fly tying videos to make though.
Talk about etiquette. So many new guys on the water after last year and they don't know to give the guy already in the water some space. I have been walked in so many times. I know it's public water, but I don't sit in your lap at the movies and I don't eat off your plate in a restaurant. I have met some really cool people on the river just because I was polite. Let's learn from one another don't fish over the top of folks. I have been fishing for 22 years with more than 70 days a year on water. I took up euro about a year ago and it's my new addiction. Again thanks for the video. Great advice. You might talk about the slight haul in the euro cast, it helps get the flies down faster and increases accuracy. Tight lines. Great video.
Thanks for the feedback. I may have to do a series on reading water because there are so many different situations. I have a couple of videos where I break down sections that I fish. Check out ua-cam.com/video/GegwxAi2nO8/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/12TDt3ZrkLo/v-deo.html
Reading the water is like 80% of success, except situations when you target rising trout visually. There's no sense to fish in the water where's no fish :-0
Enjoy your videos, been Euro Nymphing about 2 yrs, always learning something new. One thing I learned is to not immediately start casting into the best looking runs, start close and work out, I have been surprised numerous times to hook up with something close to me on the first or 2nd cast. Your Sexy Stone Fly pattern has caught me several nice fish, thanks for that.
YES, YES and YES! Totally agree with you on covering water. I often find the exact same thing! Glad to hear the Sexi Stone is producing for you too. I swear all of my big trout come on that guy!
Agreed. Please post. The most obvious thing about Euro Nymphing is that you can control the speed of the flies compared to indicator nymphing. I'm new at this and want to learn it right. Thanks for a great video with easy to understand tips.
Definitely! I learned that while steelhead fishing. I used to use indicators and until someone I knew blew me away on the water one day by tight lining. It became a mission after that!
I started euro nymphing this winter on the Deschutes, OR and I’ve been crushing it! May is supposed to be the big stone fly hatch on the Deschutes for dry fly fishing, but I had a rod rigged for dries, flipped it around a bit, but if I didn’t see any interest on the surface, I’d go back to catching a fish every 4 or 5 casts on nymphing. A couple things. I pretty much set the hook with a little up motion, same as feeling along the bottom, and I land a much greater percentage than anyone fishing with me with an indicator. I seem to get a solid upper jaw hook up, and it shakes out easily in the net. But I’ll try low and downstream to see how it works. As the pale duns dribble out all afternoon, I get a lot of hookups on the downstream swing up to the surface because that’s what the duns and caddis are doing. Also I have been wondering about using this for steelhead, since it is a lot like I used to do on the Olympic Peninsula bottom bouncing corkies and pencil lead for steelhead.
I think you'll get a pretty good hook up ratio compared to an indicator because your line is generally managed way better than when using and indicator.... inevitably I would miss fish on an indicator because I had too much slack for a good hookset a lot of times. Totally agree with you on swinging the flies when there is a hatch going on! If they're chasing emergers that is a good way to go! I also think Euro for steelhead is a great option! That is really how I because successful with steelhead in pressured water. I could find fish in faster or pocket water that other people missed because I was disecting and searching that water with Euro.
My first experience with tightlining was actually with Tenkara. But the lack of a reel and ability to manage line lead me to euro nymphing and I loved it! I have an entire series on Euro Nymphing you will probably like if you liked this video. Check it out here. ua-cam.com/play/PLuLwf7ym7i7bre38GWqk0pXZggydq3Z5m.html
Really enjoyed, new to euro nymphing. Just got my new euro rod. Have been using my 5wt, with euro line with success for about 2 months. Have learned hard way that my flies are not heavy enough. I ty my own and now increase the weight. Thanks again. Keep up great videos.
Cool! Heavy flies makes a big difference. Have you see our full Euro Nymping Series? If you are new to Euro Nymphing it will be VERY helpful!!! ua-cam.com/play/PLuLwf7ym7i7bre38GWqk0pXZggydq3Z5m.html
You're welcome! I'm glad you find it helpful. I'm assuming you have see the rest of the videos in the euro nymphing series but if you haven't they are all here in this playlist. ua-cam.com/play/PLuLwf7ym7i7bre38GWqk0pXZggydq3Z5m.html
NICE PRESENTATION! JUST GETTING INTO THIS AND MY BIGGEST MISTAKE SO FAR HAS BEEN LINE FROM UPPER FLY TANGLING AROUND ROD WHEN MOVING TO ANOTHER SPOT- NEED TO FIGURE THAT OUT
YES! That is a pain. I typically bring the lower fly around the bottom of the reel near the reel seat and bring it back up toward the upper fly. then hook the flies together (hook to hook). Then reel the line tight. Other people will use a small O-ring that can slide up and down the rod and hook the upper hook on that.
Thanks! I have a whole in depth series out now for you Euro Nymphing that goes in to great detail. Hope you enjoy it! ua-cam.com/play/PLuLwf7ym7i7bre38GWqk0pXZggydq3Z5m.html
You are the FIRST person to talk about fighting a fish on a fly rod. I've watched a lot of videos about fly fishing, nymphing, rigging etc. I'm very good fighting fish until they jump. I don't know what to do when the fish jump I hope you explain that too in your videos.
That's a really good point on how to handle them when they jump! I covered some basic stuff here and in another video in my Euro Nymphing Series (ua-cam.com/play/PLuLwf7ym7i7bre38GWqk0pXZggydq3Z5m.html) but I didn't cover a jumping fish. Honestly, i think the rod has a lot to do with it. If you have a good long, soft euro rod just do you best to keep tension so they can't create slack and throw the hook. fighting them with a low rod may help keep them down and not jump... but if a fish really wants to jump.. it's gonna jump! 😂
Thanks... I actually have a in depth series on euro nymphing that will be very helpful to you. It starts with a 5 part basics for beginners that tackles all of the topics in detail. Then I go into more advanced topics. There is a TON of information in those videos that will help you. You can check out the entire playlist here. ua-cam.com/play/PLuLwf7ym7i7bre38GWqk0pXZggydq3Z5m.html
Didn’t realize I wasn’t subscribed till you just mentioned it that 92% of views were from non subscribers. I think you could sell videos at shows in my opinion. You have a natural ability to teach and explain
very very good expanation, what you say makes a lot of sense. I'd gladly see that euro nymphing beginners video. Best part is your caution about keeping the fish healthy. The comparison with running hard and getting one's head under water is spot on! A good way to get a sense of that is to hold your breath each time the fish is out of the water.
Unbelievable amount of info here concerning Euro Nymphing---I am just now getting into using this technique and your video really answered a lot of my quesitoins---I have subscribe to your channel---thankd for sharing
Glad to hear they video was helpful. I have volumes 1-3 for the Euro Nymphing Series out now if you have not already seen them and I'm working on volumes 4 and 5 now. This playlist will be updated with all of the videos in the series. Hope you enjoy the series! It is PACKED with information! ua-cam.com/play/PLuLwf7ym7i7bre38GWqk0pXZggydq3Z5m.html
This is an excellent first step for euro nymphing. As a guide on the San Juan in New Mexico, I'm gonna download this for the water column slow/fast video portion alone so I can show clients what I'm talking about! Thanks so much for that! I personally have gotten into euro nymphing for myself and estimate that you notice 5:1 more hits euro nymphing with tactical leader and euro nymph specific rods than traditional San Juan wet flying. The only drawback as you eloquently stated here, is euro nymph casting isn't pretty tight loops, or really pretty at all for that matter, it's 100% technical.
And I thought I knew. Can't agree more to use plenty of weight to get the fly on the bottom and keep the tension on.. This guy is an excellent teacher.
Thank you for your kind words! I ended up working on the Euro Nymphing Series and just launched Volume 1 tonight. ua-cam.com/video/sBoqSkL9vGI/v-deo.html
Well... it turned into much more than a 1 hour video. 😂 I developed an entire Euro Nymphing Series to go from the very beginning all the way through advanced topics. I've had a lot of people calling this series the best Euro Nymphing series on UA-cam 💖 I hope you enjoy it and it can help you! Check out our full EURO NYMPHING SERIES here: ua-cam.com/play/PLuLwf7ym7i7bre38GWqk0pXZggydq3Z5m.html
Been fly fishing for >30 years (euronymphing >10 years) and I think that this information is excellent and I agree 100% with the information given. One small tip that helps keeping the line tight is not being afraid of "pulling" the nymph behind the rod tip (even quite a lot). This is how you get the best contact with the nymph and you are in the motion of gently setting the hook already. The small downside is that the nymph will be drifting slightly faster than the water surrounding the nymph, but I have not seen this being a problem at least not compared to how much fish you lose if there's slack in your line. This can sometimes make a huge difference, especially for picky grayling.
I agree... I often will help guide my flies downstream like you mention. It is very subtle though so as not to affect the drift too much. If you are new to the channel I have an entire Euro Nymphing Series you would probably like. It is linked here. ua-cam.com/play/PLuLwf7ym7i7bre38GWqk0pXZggydq3Z5m.html
@@WhiteDogTrailCompany Then you probably want to check out my channel too 😉. The one from Otava is worth a watch, and my latest from last years hike in the Swedish mountains.
Great euro nymphing advice for those of us new to this technique. I've made all 5 mistakes so watching your video is a much-needed presentation. Thanks so much.
Your comments are very direct given in a nuts and bolts explanations. That's what u don't see on other sights. You get to the point and do it quickly.. Keep it coming. Thank you
Thanks! If you haven't already found it I have an entire Euro Nymphing Series that you might find helpful. ua-cam.com/play/PLuLwf7ym7i7bre38GWqk0pXZggydq3Z5m.html
Just found this channel, while not a beginner, I am still learning "euro-nymphing", trying to apply this style to small streams in central Florida for "sunfish". Found some links on your videos to aquire much needed hooks, thank you again. Will keep an eye out for upcoming content.
Awesome! good luck and take your time to digest the series lol... there's a lot in there 🙂 I recommend watching and then fishing and then coming back to the videos as they'll make more sense the more time you spend on the water.
This is a good video. Everything the man said is correct and accurate. I would add a few more tips that work in conjunction with his tips. 1. Use the tuck cast. You will get a longer drift and will cover more water. 2. Don't let the fluorescent sighter land on the water. 3. Keep the rod parallel to the water (he does it all the time) 4. Drift the flies slower than you think it is slow already. 5. Line control. It is perhaps the most important factor to achieve a good dead drift. It is not true that you can fish with only one hand. Line control is CRITICAL in this technique. 6. Always remember that, if the bugs are popping, you will get hits when the flies are rising in the water column at the end of the drift. There, Mr. Guide, I just gave you 6 tips to make another video :-) Just my $0.02
Thanks! I have 4 volumes of the Euro Series out and they are packed with a ton of info. I have the playlist linked here. ua-cam.com/play/PLuLwf7ym7i7bre38GWqk0pXZggydq3Z5m.html Enjoy!
I have the entire beginner series completed! There are 5 volumes and they are organized in this playlist! ua-cam.com/play/PLuLwf7ym7i7bre38GWqk0pXZggydq3Z5m.html Take them little by little as they are packed with information! They all have outlines with timestamps which creates chapters so it makes them easy to come back to as well when you want to review a particular topic! Enjoy!
Excellent video: informative and well presented; a nice combination of narrative and visual instruction. Looking forward to the longer Euro Nymphing Basics video. Very pleased to have come across your channel. Well done.
Yes yes yes I want to see the euro nymphing for beginners!!! I learned more about nymph fishing in the last 20 minutes than ever before! Thank you, from a die hard dry fly fisherman, that’s always wanting to learn how to nymph fish!!
I was the EXACT same way!!! Nymphing will change your life 😂 I already released the first video in the Euro Nymphing series. ua-cam.com/video/sBoqSkL9vGI/v-deo.html Volume 2 should be release at the end of this weekend (I'm hoping).
That's great to hear! I love that kind of feedback! There is nothing quite like watching a laker chase your bait up from 100 feet down and get munched right below the ice!!! 😝 I wish our ice season was a bit longer but if we get 4 weeks on the ice it's a good season...
I ended up doing a whole euro nymphing series that you will probably like. I have the whole playlist of the series here. ua-cam.com/play/PLuLwf7ym7i7bre38GWqk0pXZggydq3Z5m.html
That's great! Volumes 1 and 2 of the series are out now and I'm wrapping up Volume 3 and expect to have that out in the next few days. Here is Volume 1 if you have jumped into that already :) ua-cam.com/video/sBoqSkL9vGI/v-deo.html
Seems fish are usually facing upstream so setting the hook downstream and low makes sense. Great job on the series. Thanks for sharing. Thanks for helping us go from zero to hero. You rock!

Took up esn last august, awesome! Been fly fishing 30 years, but esn sure hyper jumped my catch rate 10 fold. The San Juan is my home water, 30 fish days not unusual. Good tip on the low angle down stream hook set, took me awhile to figure that one out. Initially had an issue with foul hooking, but a tight line and really feeling the eat as opposed to a brush by and increasing the length from point fly to dropper helped with that. Cheers
Definitely what to know more about Nymph Fishing ....as I am brand new to fly fishing. I am also yet to see someone do a full demonstration of how much line you actually take off before you cast ! It seems like every how to video just blasts through it. So, I for one would love to see a Beginners Video for Nymphing .... I need all the help I can get !
I would love to take part in a euro nymphing for beginners series. I am just getting started and can use all the help I can get. I am excited I love your videos keep them coming

Im new to ur channel but ive recently watched the first two beginner videos and now this one. Prior to watching them i had no clue how how this style of nymphing worked. I already feel like i could get on the river and catch fish using these tactics. I cant wait to get the euro type rod and line and give it a shot. Thanks for all this great info in such detail for us rookies. Can't wait to see the next couple videos! Happy to have found ur channel.
Just watched my first White Dog Outdoors video and thought it was great. This past weekend I caught my first fish Euro nymphing on my new Moonshine Epiphany 3wt 10'6 rod. Every tip you just gave was spot on. I actually got taken down to the backing on a great fish at Escatawba Farms Fly Fishing hear in Virginia. Great tips for someone new to Euro Nymphing. Looking forward to more videos.
Great tip about keeping the fish in the net before messing with it to let them recover. I've always been in a race to let them go and get a picture, which caused me to fumble and such. We both get to relax and recover before the photo op. :)
That's awesome! And yes... I think learning to tie your own flies ends up making a lot of sense the more you fish. Those flies do not need to be difficult to tie. They can be really basic and work really well. Check out the fly tying videos I have as they're all great flies to start with!
Great video--so clear and concise. The aerial footage of how the oval cast works has changed my life. I'd never quite understood in until I saw this! +1 for the euronymphing 101 video.
Terrific presentation on Euro nymphing for newbies like myself. Have been an indie guy for a long time but appreciate tight line tactics on our Arkansas tailwaters. Look forward to your full length video.
It's a very useful video for me, a Nymphing learner. since I'm a Nymphing learner, I would like to learn it from very beginning. Thank you for your very clear explanation and hope to watch more quickly.
My pleasure! I created a whole Euro Nymphing Series that is really in depth. It is linked here if you're interested. ua-cam.com/play/PLuLwf7ym7i7bre38GWqk0pXZggydq3Z5m.html
Great video. I could not agree more with the fish revival. I rarely even touch the fish since I use barbless hooks. The removal occurs within seconds of netting a fish and keeping it in the water and the easing of line tension. Cannot stress enough that barbless hooks should always be used for nymphs and even bigger streamers. The damage these fish incur getting a streamer hook torn off their face is usually fatal.
I 100% agree on using barbless hooks. I find my hook up percentages are high and I don't lose fish on them. And when you land the fish they almost always just come out without having to do anything. Best of both worlds! If you haven't seen our full Euro Nymphing Series I would highly recommend it! ua-cam.com/play/PLuLwf7ym7i7bre38GWqk0pXZggydq3Z5m.html
Great points about keeping the fish underwater. I’m out probably 100+ days a year and this is a huge pet peeve- I see it constantly! The beauty of jig hooks is they generally come dislodged all on their own, so I’d encourage everyone to avoid snags & use them (or crush your barbs…it’ll save a favorite shirt or your hand as an added bonus!); I’d add if you can get the hook out without handling it, it’s better for the fish as well. Tight lines & catch you on the Battenkill someday!
Definitely agree. I use jig hooks almost exclusively and feel I get way better hookup percentage, I don't lose fish but when they hit the net and tension is released they fall right out!
Absolutely fantastic video just found your site really good informative vid this is not a dig but down to earth no classical music and massive loops on a sunrise river. Would love to see some more starter vids just been flying 1 season bet I've missed the cap but thank you very much can't wait to see more

Dude, you should absolutely post the beginners euro video. You are very relatable and good at this. Post it. Please
Thank you! I definitely will. It will take some time to get the right footage though. If I'm gonna do it, it has to be great!
Yes please on the beginner euro.

This is a great comment! I 100% agree with everything you mentioned! Life changing :)
Thank you! The oval can make a huge difference in avoiding tangles!
Thanks!
Thanks for your support!
A couple of my greatest fly mentors used to tell me “hook sets are free” meaning if there’s a chance...do it. You miss every hookset you don’t try
LOL!! That's a fantastic comment and great advice!
This is probably the best Euro Nymphing video series on the internet. You have done a stellar job! Thanks very much from New Zealand.
Thank you so much! Good luck with your season this year!
Totally would love a Euro Nymphing how-to. You turned us around on ice fishing and I think that would do the same for my trout fishing.
Thanks Joe! Stories like yours are exactly why I do this! :)
My tying skills are not near your quality, thank you,
MSG Leum
I'm sorry you have gone through what you have. I hope you are able to get out on the water for some physical and mental healing this year! The skills will come with time but just enjoy being out there!
That would be great to see a video on euro nymphing
Would love to see a breakdown of your euro fly box
Beginner video would be great, including reading water.
@@awaken77 Totally agree!
Yes please. A beginner's guide to Euro Nymphing would help me a lot. Thanks!
It is definitely coming. We'll be filming in the coming weeks hopefully (assuming the rain stops and our rivers can get back to normal).
This is one of the best lessons I’ve seen on Euro Nymphing. Great job! This is a great video for fly fishers as well as Tenkara nymphing.
ReWatching this video....PACKED...with info that is "REASONED" & that is working....so very rewarding !!! Thx , Mr. Spinner 😊
You're welcome! I'm glad you find it helpful. I'm assuming you have see the rest of the videos in the euro nymphing series but if you haven't they are all here in this playlist. ua-cam.com/play/PLuLwf7ym7i7bre38GWqk0pXZggydq3Z5m.html
Glad you mentioned that the fish health is a priority to you! Grat video and tips! Thanks!
Just ordered my first euro nymphing rod/reel and heavy tungsten nymphs. Can't wait to try your suggestions. Thanks for a great video!
Awesome! Good luck with it!
Been Euro Nymphing for 3 years. Great tips. Excellent video!!!!
Thanks! I have a whole in depth series out now for you Euro Nymphing that goes in to great detail. Hope you enjoy it! ua-cam.com/play/PLuLwf7ym7i7bre38GWqk0pXZggydq3Z5m.html
Keep a tight line. Rule number one. Best advise ever for Euro Nymphing.
This is a very informative video. As a beginning euro nympher, it was a pleasuee to get these tips.
Thank you for joining us... officially! 😂
Great video, brother. New to fly fishing and really interested in euro nymphing. Subscribed and will watch your beginner series. Thanks!
Awesome! Enjoy the beginner series! There is a lot in there! :)
very very good expanation, what you say makes a lot of sense. I'd gladly see that euro nymphing beginners video. Best part is your caution about keeping the fish healthy. The comparison with running hard and getting one's head under water is spot on! A good way to get a sense of that is to hold your breath each time the fish is out of the water.
My wife is a runner so that analogy just came to mind :) God knows if I run I need may air!
That's awesome!
Great tips & video for Euro-Nymphing newbies. Definitely will look for the 1 hour video.
Well... it turned into much more than a 1 hour video.
Glad it was helpful!
Your comments are very direct given in a nuts and bolts explanations. That's what u don't see on other sights. You get to the point and do it quickly.. Keep it coming. Thank you
I appreciate that
Great info, I have fished all my life and have always concentrated on the bait being down and moving slowly. Thanks
Great video on common Euro Nymphing Mistakes. Very easy to understand and well organized.
Awesome! Thanks for joining us!
Enjoyed the video. New to Euro nymphing but need to add it to my toolbox. Looking fwd to watching the video series. Thanks!
Awesome! good luck and take your time to digest the series lol... there's a lot in there 🙂 I recommend watching and then fishing and then coming back to the videos as they'll make more sense the more time you spend on the water.
This is a good video. Everything the man said is correct and accurate. I would add a few more tips that work in conjunction with his tips.
1. Use the tuck cast. You will get a longer drift and will cover more water.
2. Don't let the fluorescent sighter land on the water.
3. Keep the rod parallel to the water (he does it all the time)
There, Mr. Guide, I just gave you 6 tips to make another video :-)
Just my $0.02
YES to all of those! I 100% agree! I have all of those items planned in my upcoming videos! :)
Excellent video!
Heading out this weekend for Fishmas and trying euro nymph if for the first time.
I’m interested in your beginner euro Nymphing video. Thanks, I learned a lot about the mistakes beginners do. Appreciate your knowledge
Thanks! I have 4 volumes of the Euro Series out and they are packed with a ton of info. I have the playlist linked here. ua-cam.com/play/PLuLwf7ym7i7bre38GWqk0pXZggydq3Z5m.html Enjoy!
Very good Vdo . Clear concise, lots of detail. Yes beginners Vdo please. I can catch on dry but not on nymph. Now i will use heavier N
Enjoy!
One of the best, to the point, Euro Nymphing videos that I've seen...nicely done. Show me more.
Thank you!!! I will! We are working on the next series of videos. It will take some time but we are shooting!
You excellently explained pedagogically! I‘m very interested in more of your advices on EN.
Thank you!
Excellent video: informative and well presented; a nice combination of narrative and visual instruction. Looking forward to the longer Euro Nymphing Basics video. Very pleased to have come across your channel. Well done.
Thank you! Glad to have you on our journey! :)
New to euro nymphing. Your videos covered everything Thank you for all the advice.
Glad to help!
Your laker icefishing video changed my fishing life never fly fished before liked it before video started
That's great to hear! I love that kind of feedback! There is nothing quite like watching a laker chase your bait up from 100 feet down and get munched right below the ice!!! 😝 I wish our ice season was a bit longer but if we get 4 weeks on the ice it's a good season...
Yeah and the basic euroninph video definitely would help me out too
I showed a friend of mine how to do it then that's all he talks about now he was a pike fisherman now I think I changed his ice season
You ever go to roscoe ny
Reall great information. Thanks for providing this for us that want to learn.
love it, just picked up a 3wt 10'6 euro rig and ready to learn and rock

Great tips. Especially about the conservation and barbless hooks. Help the fish to fight another day.
That's what it's all about! We have to protect the fish we love to catch or we won't have as many quality fish to catch!
Nice concise videos with good simple intructions
Took up esn last august, awesome! Been fly fishing 30 years, but esn sure hyper jumped my catch rate 10 fold. The San Juan is my home water, 30 fish days not unusual. Good tip on the low angle down stream hook set, took me awhile to figure that one out. Initially had an issue with foul hooking, but a tight line and really feeling the eat as opposed to a brush by and increasing the length from point fly to dropper helped with that.
Cheers
Yes... definitely good point on lengthening the distance between flies to minimize foul hooking.
Great Euro nymphing video; I would like to see a video on different techniques used for Mono, Euro and traditional nymphing.
I will make sure to cover that! Thanks!
I would love to take part in a euro nymphing for beginners series. I am just getting started and can use all the help I can get. I am excited I love your videos keep them coming

I went Euro Nymphing today with a guide for the first time. I had a great time and caught a lot of fish. I would love to see a video for beginners.
Yeah... it is such a great way to find fish!
I happy you found the channel too :) Good luck out there!
That is so awesome! Glad to hear it is helping!
Great tip about keeping the fish in the net before messing with it to let them recover. I've always been in a race to let them go and get a picture, which caused me to fumble and such. We both get to relax and recover before the photo op. :)
I had my first successful day euronymphing yesterday- all of this makes a lot of sense! I’m even more convinced I need to start tying my own flies…
That's awesome! And yes... I think learning to tie your own flies ends up making a lot of sense the more you fish. Those flies do not need to be difficult to tie. They can be really basic and work really well. Check out the fly tying videos I have as they're all great flies to start with!
VERY GOOD video for anyone! Looking forward to Beginners Euro video too.
Thank you!
Demonstrating, instructing, while operating the drone... that's some talent!
😂😂😂 That was not easy!!! The wind was making the drone drift slightly so I had to keep adjusting it.
great discussion of better techniques to more success Euro Nymphing thanks
Thank you! More to come!
Great video, good points for newbie to euro-nymphing. Am very interested in the longer video
More to come!
Great video--so clear and concise. The aerial footage of how the oval cast works has changed my life. I'd never quite understood in until I saw this! +1 for the euronymphing 101 video.
That's awesome! Glad it helped!
Terrific presentation on Euro nymphing for newbies like myself. Have been an indie guy for a long time but appreciate tight line tactics on our Arkansas tailwaters. Look forward to your full length video.
Thanks... We should starting filming soon.
It's a very useful video for me, a Nymphing learner. since I'm a Nymphing learner, I would like to learn it from very beginning. Thank you for your very clear explanation and hope to watch more quickly.
It is a phenomenal way to fish. The full video will start at the beginning. I'm definitely looking forward to getting it done!
Yes I would like to see nymphing for beginners, thanks for your help

Great video, I too am learning Euro nymphing. Thanks a lot for the tips. I am getting better.
Awesome! Good luck!
Love all the videos..keep on with the series on nymphing.i like to see some on fishing emergers
Thank you! 😊
Thank you for your video on 5 mistakes with Euro nymphing!
My pleasure! I created a whole Euro Nymphing Series that is really in depth. It is linked here if you're interested. ua-cam.com/play/PLuLwf7ym7i7bre38GWqk0pXZggydq3Z5m.html
Love euro nymphing!! Helps catch some of those bigger, pressured fish!
Yes it does!
Yes, I fish 100% barbless, just grab the fly and quick twist and its back into the water. No need to even touch the fish.
Thanks for this. New to Euro.
Great info! Just starting euro nymph in.
I have a whole euro nymphing series you might like if you have not found it yet. ua-cam.com/play/PLuLwf7ym7i7bre38GWqk0pXZggydq3Z5m.html
