- I LOVE the Good Doctor and it seems like you enjoy it also. Let's go with the third review of the season 1 finale!!!!
I think it is so important to be able to not only create a show that is interesting but also keeping it medically accurate and give a great example of how one with autism can strive to new heights.
If we can get this video up to 100,000 likes I can use that to try and get Freddie Highmore to do a review with us so smash that like button!!!
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this episode of Real Doctor Watches The Good Doctor / Real Doctor Reacts to The Good Doctor . If you want me to continue making this doctor reaction video please give it a like and leave me a comment on which tv drama or show you'd like for me to review next. Love you all!

Well, you can, but the outcome will be unfavourable.
You’re not wrong......

Yeah . They die.
Is this one of those, "You really can do anything you want. Some of those things, you can even repeat."
ok but shaun’s hug is so wholesome and got me so emotional 🥺🥺🥺
Same. I’ve already watched the entire season, but even just those few seconds, made me tear up again.
My grandpa died of cancer, and I also have a little sister with high functioning autism, so these characters really get to me 😭
As someone with ASD.......That hug is VERY SPECIAL, more so if he doesnt allow to be touched. also a fellow Shaun.
Kinda cant watch much of this show for those reasons, too close to home.
Ikr I dont know why more people are commenting this! 🥺

My son has autism, he’s going to be 3 in a month. Let me tell you, the “awkwardness”/ completely factuality of this character, is my child and it cracks me up on a daily basis. As a single mom, I couldn’t be more proud he’s already doing multiplication/division, and has a photographic memory. My little genius 🤩
so sweet!! i hope yall are doing well :D
@@potofgreeed we are! He’s reading writing and playing the piano now too. Scrambling to catch up to him. He’s still only semi-verbal with preferred things. The other day we drove to our friends and the husband jokingly said “you’re going to have to pay me to come to the car to give you high fives”. My child said nothing and gave his wife my wallet and debit card straight faced. Then asked for another high five. We were rolling.
Hope you’re having a wonderful day!!
That is very cool, I have have Asperger syndrome and I can relate to ''awkwardness" of autism.
I read this as him being 3 months old and was extremely contused on how on earth he was doing multiplication/division 😂 very happy for you and your son!
I'm a Special Education teacher and I'm so incredibly impressed by this actor. Obviously I've worked with a lot of students on the Autism Spectrum over the years and his portrayal is extremely accurate. The body language, spotty eye contact (though it sometimes looks like he's TRYING to use eye contact but its uncomfortable for him), lack of affect (facial expression) when saying something emotional, cadence and rhythm of his speech, lack of understanding of social cues/norms or appropriate tone (I know he has told people they have something life threatening in an episode but with excitement because he knew the answer), etc- it's incredible. He somehow captures that though he may say things that seem insensitive or cold at times, it is not out of malice whatsoever, and he is actually quite caring ALONG WITH being highly spacially intelligent. His performance is SO believable I actually gasped and teared up when he initiated a hug at the end of that clip. For someone who presents in the way his character does, that gesture is a HUGE deal.
(Dr. Shaun to other doctors, in front of a patient, excited that he finally figured it out): She has a malignant sarcoma!
(Patient): Malignant?! It means it's killing me?!
(Dr. Shaun): Yes! =) (big smiling)

Awww! That’s so sweet! I had an autistic friend in primary school. And the first time he hugged me, my heart exploded into rainbows and cupcakes :3
I'm autistic and I'm also very very impressed by his acting. Every little gesture he does I do too and I can't believe how the actor managed to capture this so well. And I was sooo happy when Shaun hugged the other one because I remember a time where I also couldn't hug anyone but now I can give my friends like real hugs without feeling uncomfortable. I wish there were more shows or movies like the good doctor with autistic characters so more people could learn what autism really is.
He’s also British so he has to also keep up hiding his accent
I started to cry when he hugged him too.... My daughter is nonverbal autistic and it took me four years to get a hug from her without asking for it. I thought he really was on the spectrum!

I gotta say, I loved how Shaun hugs Aaron in that last scene. We know Shaun doesn’t like touch and stuff and when hugs are giving his hands are down by his side but he starts this hug and he holds on right. Shows their bond in more than words

Only Doctor Mike can explain a TV show without ruining it.
XXSlytherinXX He’s not really explaining the show, though. He’s explaining the medical procedures on the show, but not the show itself. If that makes sense. Lol.
Creepypasta & Squirrels I agree
But he isn’t saying bad things about the show or spoiling other episodes apart from the one he’s reacting to
Depends on the show so if the show makes a bad hair has to say what actually happens and that’s when people think he’s doing it but he’s actually making it better if people who made it see from their mistakes Lala Lala La La La La La La La La La La I know that you know I eat that same song every day and I feel better so it’s because a doctor make cool I feel be true single nature classic classical

Ugh yes, docs are THE WORST patients!!! My mom was a Family Practice doc for 20+ years before retiring due to her own health issues, and I seriously pray for her medical team whenever she has an appointment. She always knows more than them, gets mad when they don’t do exactly what she tells them to do… it’s like, “Mom, medicine has changed since you practiced!” 🤦🏻♀️
I love how the conflict isn't around the fact that it's an inoperable condition, but that he can't process that. He's always searching for a solution, which is admirable, but a lesson he has to learn is that people die and sometimes you can't do anything about it
“If you have a cold, you’ll feel better if your mental state is better”
So THAT’S why my cold lasts so long
Well I had cold and didn’t even know because I was the same amount of sick with my self as I always am
Ppffft . But the thing is when I have a cold I feel like I am dying . And I watch videos on yt In bed all day .
Any samers in the chat?
I embrace my sickness when I have a "cold". I get sick for a day or two, wrap up tight, and feel like I'm in hell as a result. I embrace having "colds" because I know it's what my body wants and needs, so lots of SLEEP, fluids, and things I can easily ingest but not too much.
For me personally, I recover a lot more quickly then others. If I get much of a fever or my symptoms lasts for longer than a 3-5 days, then I go see my doctor.
669 lol had t9 ruin it
I’m not even surprised that this show is the most accurate. It focuses more on the medical side of things rather than on romances, like Grey’s Anatomy.
That is why I prefer The Good Doctor over Grey's Anatomy; that show became so boring with all the drama and romances and doctors sleeping with each other.
Is it more accurate than scrubs? I know that scrubs also has tons of romance and humor but was always rated as the most accurate so far
Nottttttttt even 😂. You should watch Mama Doctor Jones on the emergency C section episode

It's not exactly surprising, at least when I've met other people on the spectrum a lot of people on the spectrum when dealing with strong emotions and emotional connections to someone like being hands-on in their nonverbal communication. People on the Autism Spectrum have emotions just as much as a neurotypical person it's simply that communicating the emotions and interpreting others emotions can take more work then someone who is neurotypical.
I cry every time when Shaun hugs somebody, because I remember how uncomfortable it was for him at the beginning of the series 😭

@@hinrt7878 Same!! Happy, flappy, hands.
I'm similar too! I'm definitely more "NT-passing" (that's the best way I can put it) than the doctor, but I do similar things like that. I mean, it's a lot more useful and efficient anyway, isn't it?? I like to ask people what they need from me instead of just trying to guess because it works better. Do you want advice or emotional support? Would you like me to leave you alone? Are you done talking? That last one is pretty frequent because it's just needed a lot. If my mom interrupts me while watching a lecture and she tells me several things, I'll ask if she's done so I know I can put my headphones back on. If I'm having a conversation with someone and need to use the bathroom I'll ask if they're finished so I'm fine to interrupt. Makes things a lot easier!

Seconded!
Maybe in combination with call the midwife!
Me too!
@Kevin Prima Midwifery is not quackery. Multiple studies have shown that home birth for low-risk women with well trained midwives with hospital privileges (ie. midwives in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK, Netherlands) has equal outcomes to hospital birth for low-risk women, and significantly lower rates of intervention. Not to mention the fact that most people who have midwives have a hospital birth anyways. There are some midwives in the US who have limited training and therefore may have worse outcomes- but this is not the norm in the rest of the world.

As someone who has High Functioning Autism I can really relate to Sean here. When something really devastating happens to me or someone close to me, I kinda go into this hyper drive. I want to solve whatever is wrong, and I tend to obsess over it. I have to remind myself that not everything can be solved, and to let others deal with their own emotions in their own way. I think Sean is just trying to cope with this new info in his own way.

The stuff about hope when facing a disease or any diagnosis is definitely true. One of my former classmates did a research paper on how stress affects the prognosis of cancer patients and found a significant difference between patients who lived and passed away that was correlated with stress level (I believe measured with cortisol or another kind of stress hormone) basically the less stressed you are, the higher likelihood of survival and recovery. I really liked what you said about hope....
I suffered a spinal cord injury a few days after I graduated from high school about 12 years ago. Wiped out the possibility of any part of the future I had planned to pursue.
Every time I met a new PT, OT, whatever, and I would tell them I wanted to at least attempt to work on recovering ability instead of just adapting to what was left, every one of them would give me some version of “I don’t want to give you false hope.”
I don’t believe there is a such thing a false hope. Hope is hope. Even if the odds are minuscule, you never know unless you try, and keep trying. You never know if today will be the day that something happens.
If I had listened to all of those people, and just accepted what I had left and learned to live with it, I wouldn’t have gone to college, gotten my graduate degree, gotten a job that is as close as I can get to what I had wanted since I was in 5th grade without the physical ability, or so many of the other things I’ve accomplished since my injury.
Whether my hope is seen as misguided or ‘false,’ it’s what’s gotten me through since my injury. I may not be 100% of what I was before, and may never be, but 12 years later, I’ve accomplished so much and I am still seeing things come back that they said would never come back.
Sorry for the long winded rant, but like I said up top, I really appreciated what you said about hope.
It's not a rant. Thank you for this amazing comment.
I definitely agree with you on medical professionals needing to focus more on recovering what ability one can rather than just getting used to what you have. A family member of mine had a massive stroke - couldn't speak at all. The doctors told him he might never speak again. I'd brought my music player for him to listen to in the hospital during those first few days, and it happened to have a lot of old songs that he knew, so he was mouthing along to the words. A few days later he was partially speaking again, and within another month or so was back to speaking almost normally.
I landed weird on foot and it broke a little and dat was no pleasant
I would just phrase it as managing your expectations or keeping them realistic
Thank you for your story! It really puts life into perspective hearing about stories like this 💕
April Asher i wouldn't take a risk if it were expensive, the odds were too small and if the price were too high. Too much money for something that would most likely fail? No. I know that's edgy, but there's no such thing as false hope if there's no hope to begin with. It's sad, but we have to consider the age and whether the parents will pay or not
Thank you so much for the videos. Regards from Switzerland ☺️
