You can zoom with the other controllers just as easy without a second wheel, all you do is hold down the Function button on the upper left and the scroll wheel works as a zoom wheel instead of a gimbal rotation.

This has so many amazing improvements, I've been using the Mini 2 for a while now and these features would be incredible to try out. This gives so many more options to create good looking footage

Just to be clear - back in the Phantom days, the amazing software Autopilot could do far more accurate tracking than anything ActiveTrack can do as it uses a GPS device like your phone to do follow modes… and it did it incredibly smoothly.
Unfortunately Autopilot was bought out and the company that bought it ceased operations. There’s subsequent software that does something similar but I haven’t tried it.
AT is great but I really wish there were more foolproof options like GPS device tracking.
it sucks that all the older tech gets "phased out" for so many media/tech mediums. Usually not for the best in the end.
Great video again Darren as we have come to expect from you. Always informative, relevant and straight to the point. I am loving seeing what this new drone can do and will definitely be getting one on completion of my “apprenticeship” with my mini 2. I think it’s better to learn to fly properly with a relatively basic machine, so you can really get the benefit of the added features later. Keep up the excellent work!

We need a range test Darren, we need a range test.. a lot of people complaining about the bad connection between the RC controller and the drone, most people can't get over 1-2 km. Which is a a bad sign!
In EU 2km is the legal limit.
I believe you’re not supposed to fly a drone beyond visual range anyway, which is WELL below 2km for a drone this size…
But other places have far range and don't have to worry about it
I can't take my eyes of of all the good things this drone offers. Indeed, the tracking is excelent, too bad it doesn't have side sensors...it would have been the perfect drone ever. Thank you for covering all this great information for all of us. Peace bro!!!

The only reason i can think of is probably becouse it would have gone over 250g with side sensors also and ofc you dont want that. Soo i guess we need to wait 1-2 more years for even more enanched materials that allow them do put more sensors on. I'm sure they would have included the side sensors if they didnt encounter some overweigth during the project.
DJI would do the same thing as Apple where it stages it’s releases with minor improvements to make more money. They’ll put side sensors in the mini 4 so they can make another couple grand off you.

Unfortunately some people will report the slightest thing to the caa or faa which makes tests like that not possible

I have to say thank you for keeping us informed all the time! I would really like to fly this drone. In this year I’m travelling a lot and Active track as well as hyper lapse and of course the social media mode would be great features! ( and the other new functions are so much better comparing to mini 2 ) Tomorrow will be my birthday and to be honest winning this drone would be the greatest fortune of all time! :D Anyway thank you for your content again and I can just wish all of us the best luck! 🍀
This drone is completely amazing, it features true vertical shooting, which means you don't need to edit it in post, also I love how the camera is performing against low light situation...
To be honest, in a drone this size with everything is does, I think any tracking is quite the accomplishment. The fact that is works as well as it does it brilliant. The camera and feature set really seem perfect for vlogging and travel, etc.
The mini 3 would literally be the perfect drone for me. I own the phantom 4 standard and the drone is just too big to take anywhere. The size combined with the camera specs are just amazing. Incredible how far technology came in these years. Im going to travel a lot the coming months, so being able to take my drone anywhere would be just awesome
Glad we finally have a drone from the DJI mini series that has Active Track 4.0. One of the reasons why I’m upgrading to Mini 3 Pro.
The DJI mini 3 pro is just so perfect and and when you say good things about this drone I think it makes other people happy who loves this drone
It is really a big upgrade of Dji drone mainly in mini category.
The most amazing feature I love
1.vertical rotation of camera ( it is much more helps us to create content for UA-cam as well as instagram.)
2. More battery life
3. Smart controller
4.Better camera quality
5. Better obstacles sensor
For these amazing features I just fell in love with mini 3 pro 💥
I absolutely love my mini 2, but as an amateur the mini 3 will be a big step up for me to get more creative and give me more confidence with the collision detection etc
This is the top reason I love the DJI mini 3 pro. Since you can go anywhere with this little drone and it can follow you. Great video👍

I can't believe they got all the extras front and rear sensors active track, better low light and this little beast is still under 249g, great engineering, i will own this one day, great video not been lakes in years might take the kids soon.

thanks for this video. I just purchased the Mini 3 pro for filming my sailboat with active track while under sail and i am confident ill get some great shots for my new adventure channel i'm starting.
I have been looking into getting a drone for some time now and the mini 2 was on the top of the list, now the mini 3 pro is out I think it is the one for me. You have sold me with it's active track, great video, keep up the good work.
mini 2 is a fantastic drone but but but if you want these extra features and quality I think its worth the extra
This competition, if I win would be truly life changing for me and my family, we are always out and about going to different places. To view everywhere we go from the air would be magical. A mini 3 pro would be my first drone, I've just taken the flyer I'd test too. Excellent video, thanks, has answered all my questions on tracking and sensors. That drone is incredible! The features and capabilities crammed in a sub 250 drone is insane. Great stuff, and I'm not jealous of the boating trip at all.
This video is honestly why I would love the mini 3 pro! I travel to see family a few times a year and we go boating and skiing and having active track would be a fun way to get myself in the shots too without having to “fly” the drone. Enjoying your channels content! 🤘🏻

@@DMProductions yes, charged it all up, checked everything over, and flew it up and down the lake outside our house just to get used to things.
Does the zoom function have an opportunity to apply some expo curve to control instead of linear to have more smoother zoom in and out?
Is there a way to do active tracking such that drone is upright on top and gimbal tilted down?
When I set it upright it still goes back and tracks in tilted angle.
I loved all the videos. Very informative. I’m looking forward to the DJI mini 3 pro, I’ve been wanting a drone for a while but there was always a couple features that there were missing and why I never got one. The mini 3 pro has all of the features I wanted: light and compact, 4K, active tracking and obstacles avoiding sensors. Sure it doesn’t have side sensors but the features that it has plus the RC is enough for me to get this drone. Thanks for all the videos and looking forward for more DJI mini 3 pro videos.
Great video! Mini 3 has all the features perfect for an amateur pilot/creator (tracking, obstacle avoidance, better low light sensors, and stronger wind resistance) . It is definitely a perfect upgrade for my aging mini 2 😁.

thanks, my mini 3 does a great job with active track while I am walking, but from my canoe it cannot lock, perhaps the shape is different then a normal boat. any suggestions to fix the problem in the canoe?

Great video, great views and the perfect drone to capture it all. There's a million things you can do with it and I think everyone watching these videos would love to finally use one.
The dedicated zoom wheel is nice. Zooming on the Mini 2 isn't too difficult though once you get use to using FN + the gimbal wheel for zoom.

Just bought my first drone (the mini 2) in the start of April. Unfortunately I'm new to drones and didn't know that the mini 3 was coming out otherwise would have waited a little longer. - Love the channel mate it's really helped me gain knowledge
This drone is amazing! Exactly what I am looking for to track my kids sports and riding dirt bikes. Hiking in the mountains will provide some awesome footage.
What's your concern without the side sensor like mavic pro 2 etc? Also, does 4k60p open all top/down / back sensor too?
Can you put the controller and phone away in a bookbag etc and still have it track you? If im hiking or biking and need both hands. can i take off the joysticks and just put it in the bag? thanks

I think because of the Focus Track and this minimum weight it would be perfect for fitting in my backpack while having fun outdoor with ultralight gear.

HI,I lost it in the water, it was unable to follow the boat at only 10m/h and the left control only raised and lowered the drone, it could not turn. Is it normal if it is in track mode?
Does anyone know of a method to improve the Active Track/Trace/Follow Me mode? When on a Motorcycle I can't ride at more than maybe 15 miles an hour before the Drone loses me. Is there a color, shape, contrast that it has an easier time following?

Is there a way to measure the direction and speed of the subject you are active tracking, like for example a speedboat or sailboat? Would like to derive GPS coordinates, in increments.

The footage over the boat is gutsy indeed but the confidence that drone is giving you not to mention good piloting. looking forward to the footage caught overseas in next few days.
