KarenBritChick 3 pieces I'd never throw away: 1. My Levi 501 tapered slightly distressed jeans because they're super comfortable and seasonally versatile. 2. My Palla a-bag because it has a minimalist look, matches with almost everything and it transforms from a shoulder bag to a tote. 3. My watch collection. It's my go to accessory when I want to feel more polished with little effort.
KarenBritChick.. Dear Karen can you please do a video on "what fashion means to you" ?! For instance what is the point of fashion and how does it makes you feel. Would be maaaaarrrvelous!!!!!!
KarenBritChick I'm all over the place. My gucci bag that I bought in Japan (sentimental value), silver sequined chucks, madewell leather moto jacket, my designer slgs, my Hermes bracelet collection. I'm sure I forgot something!!
I just ask my husband if the house was on fire, what would be the first thing he would grab? His response "I would grab you." He's going to have a good night tonight.😘😜😘
I have asked my Husband this question previously because of the movie Leap Year, & his answer was ‘nothing’ - he’d take nothing, let the fire take everything & just start over. And at first I had panic thinking of all of my things burning up, but I realized how I would like to get to that same answer- I need to not be so attached to my items! Your husband had a sweet answer, Johnetta!
Five years ago I had a fire. I, just like you, had a beautiful vintage collection which included an all leather vintage Gucci bag in burgundy, about 30 leather and suede coats and jackets, boots in every color you name it, I had it. When I was awaken by the smoke, the only thing I could grab were my purse and keys which happened to always be by the back door. Girl I couldn't even grab my wig or shoes. Fortunately, I had on fuzzy socks. Needless to say, I cried for months afterwards. Of course I was grateful to be alive but damn, all the years of work that went into finding those items gone in a flash. You never get over it.
Wow I'm so sorry, I just can't imagine how you feel I hope you can recover, everything happens for a reason an thanks god you're alive an able to share your story we all should learn from those experiences. I really hope you can build another amazing wardrobe again
Aw I’m sorry to hear. But as I’m sure you know, life is more important than ‘things’. And despite your loss of your amazing sounding collection , you are alive to live another day!
I did it! I lopped off the top of a pair of western boots! I am obsessed... I am going to take them to a cobbler and have them put the tabs that were on the sides onto the front and back. Genius idea... thank you Karen!
Everything that you say , share, do and tell ... reminds me of a part of myself as how much I love love love the stuff I have ... I hope a lot of people will agree ... when I say that a pair of socks ... for me is as important as my cell phone or my shoes for that matter. Thanks again for reminding us of beautiful simple pleasures of our everyday lives. Stay Blessed Sister !!
You are SO entertaining to watch!!! I love how unrehearsed and real all your videos are and how obvious your passion for clothes is! You're so positive and lovely and i love how eclectic your style is!! Please keep doing exactly what you're doing!!
I was waiting for my Tuesday dose of energy....love it. My silver mirror earrings n statement necklace...my black n white luckhnowis Kurtis n Levi's jeans....
I don’t shop high end designers and I’m not a fashionista but I really appreciate your ability to pull a look together from a broad spectrum of pieces. Yours is the only YT fashion channel I subscribe to and I look forward to having the time to watch your vids. Your exuberance and unique style make me happy🌺 My “save from the fire” never throw away pieces: 1) Black leather vest 2) Dooney and Bourke florentine leather shopper because it’s big enough to throw other bags inside! 3) black leather and suede boots 4) black Eddie Bauer Stay Shape curvy slacks 5) brown and cream argyle cashmere sweater because its thick and yummy and was gifted to me by a co-worker It only took 7 edits (ok, it really took 9) to come up with this final list, and I still couldn’t get it down to 3 items..... Congrats on your 70k subscibers!💐🥂
Oh nooo! No no no... I have been thinking a lot which items i would take with me and it's so so hard to choose! But probably a vintage dress, which happened to be my very first vintage buy, stunning pure silk 50s dress in a shimmering red/copper, no brand but handmade. and although i find it hard to style i can't leave it... It has traveled with me, it's a sign of my start into the world of vintage and it gives me such happy vibes! If you ever came across the konmari method of tidying up, which says everything you own should sparkle joy, this is definitely a piece to be kept.
Beautiful forever pieces! I would grab my most becoming jeans, my silk white button down blouse, my black ankle booties, my leopard print crossbody bag and my camel trench coat! And of course all my kitties!!!😀😍
You should be well over a 70k subscribers. You are a style icon and I can’t believe the whole world isn’t following you. You put outfits together like no other 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Hahaha, I can never watch your vlogs with a straight face, Karen, your humour and enthusiam is brilliantly over-the-top and reminds me of myself when I score BIG time when shopping. Example: I was cracking up at 2:15 - your sound effect for bionic vision zeroing in on that stunning gold Halston skirt, haha - as that is SO me when I see something that looks AMAZING peeking out at me from a mass of clothes !! 😀 And then I'm muttering to myself, "Oh.My.God. This IS mine !!" Yes, please, a vlog with your haul from the Reformation Sample Sale - why are we not surprised you were the FIRST one in, haha. 😀 I am not sure what my "fire pieces" would be, but you have inspired me to look over my togs to see what I'd grab because as you say, "They are not going anywhere" ... !!
I can't believe you got that Chanel bag pre-loved and it is still in amazing condition! That is a definite investment piece. Aviators are such classic sunglasses but I think cat-eyes are my forever pieces.
3 top fire pieces-1 - a hand-loomed wool traditional Greek knee-length vest (black and deep maroon bought in Greece in 1973- I was living in Greece and buying an evzone (Greek guard) outfit for my 4 yr old son. This was in the same shop in Monastiraki, Athens, so I bought both items. 2.French black maxi wool hooded cape bought in my hometown in1977 (reward to myself when I got accepted at Vassar College) and the third item is a black leather zip front jacket- classic. All outer wear.
LOVE THIS! I am now grouping all my items that I love in one place...except...only Spring/Summer is in the upper closet....so ....black Eileen Fisher harem pants, Milly curly lamb bag & Balenciaga. I would fold up my folding screen earring holders and shove them in. My Santa Fe silver Navajo Pearl necklaces, a teal Persian lamb cropped jacked from Christian Aujard I bought at the end of the 1970's, DVF black suede fringe boots...and my Ganni cowboy boots, a Rachel Zoe off the shoulder maxi dress in blush with embroidered hem, YSL arty ring, and my Issey Miyake bag of Pleats Please that rolls into a ball....then....my Ganni Lilac coat and dress...oh....and a whole lot of belts.... If there is not time...I will start tossing them out the window
Long black pleated skirt (thank you Karen😚) found brand new at Beacons closet on 5th in Park Slope. I paid $10. I've worn it to the Opera, cocktails, vacation, etc. Always get tons of compliments and it is super confortable and flows and sweeps my ankles when I walk.
Hi Karen. I have just recently subscribed to your chanel. Living in the UK its so nice to see not only your wardrobe but also NYC!! Really like your style, the mixture of high street and high end. You chat away so freely, can see you are just being yourself. You are a natural and you wear your clothes so well. So glad I came across you 😊
As vintage curator and shop owner, the story of the halston skirt made me smile. We all have those stories. I have such a hard time parting with items because of these stories. I have a vintage Chanel bag that I stopped dead in my tracks upon discovering it. A one of a kind and I happily overpaid for it. Keep up the great videos. Love ya.
Loved the video and how passionate you are about the pieces you love. The blue and yellow tinted aviators look amazing on you! I'm in love with my silver leather oxfords, black suede boots, and long duster vests that go equally well over dresses or pants :)
I don't have brand name items in my closet. So I would not leave with anything I can always start my wardrobe from scratch. Thank you for sharing. Love your videos
Good question! My embroided afghan jacket--I always feel very glam wearing it, and I always get a ton of compliments when wearing it. I got a 1930s black dress suit, it fits me so well and has that little bit of stretch and give, that makes it soo comfortable to wear. It's basically my little black dress. When I'm in doubt for what to wear it is my go to solution. I feel comfortable but also like a film noir femme fatal. Last but not least I have a floral 40's cocktail dress with a fishtail(?) thingy cascading over the bum, gorgeous square neckline. I wish I had more occasions to wear it... It just moves so so nicely and makes a beautiful luxurious swoosh sound as I move. Thank you Karen! This was very enlightning. I guess I learned what to grab in case of an emergency and that unique cloethes like these elevates the mood in a very special way because they make my imagination come alive. I really hope to find more cloethes that make me as happy as these. Thank you for a brilliant post.
Pearl earrings and wedding ring always on so freebies in a fire. Shoes: black Gucci loafers I got because of your shoe video, Chelsea boots and suede pumps both from Beautifeel, bespoke Lucchese black boots. Clothes: Free people blue button up I wear as a kimono and as a dress, favorite white skort, grey gored cashmere tunic length cardigan, moss cable cashmere turtleneck. And basket of large square scarf collection
Love this Karen, oddly found it very useful to see you grabbing your special items in one pile, made me really think about what my items would be. Thank you, your videos are so inspiring !! 💯❤️💞💕👏👏👏
I've got a lovely vintage dress that I payed 20dolars, One Mango boho yellow dress with wow efect and a pair of western boots bought with 10 dolars from a thrift store...despite tones of clothes I own, these are my top fav of all and let me tell you Karen, you are Amazing! I spent all day watching your videos and I feel blessed for discovering you today! You are such an inspiration for me! 😍
You are already a fabulous woman but this funny video is epic! My top 3 items would be: my black n white vintage pumps, black n gold purse, vintage dress.
My 20 year old Dooney Bourke Alto briefcase, my suede chukka boots and my chocolate brown and slate blue sheared mink hooded parka with the ginormous fox trim on the hood😉
Karen, your passion and your reaction for these items.. awwww, I need to find something in my life that I would react the same way. It used to be food but I ruined my body by eating too crappy and now I can only have plain/ healthy food. Anyway, love love love your videos. Your amazing personality shows through all of them and I love it!
I actually put the video on pause, and went to closet to pick out my "can't live without favorites". 1. a black, quilted, fitted ,knee length winter coat with a big zipper up the front. 2. a pair of dark wash Lee jeans that are a perfict fit and 3. a blue/lime mix sparkley top from One World. That was a fun exercise. Thank you !
My grandmother’s bath robe is what I’d take. I used to think it was the most beautiful dress in the world when I was 7. Played dress-up for hours! Still have it. :)
Lively collection I am obsessed.... BTW can you please do a wedding dresses video? Maybe a guide to a getting a good wedding dress and guest looks as well. Love you and love your cahnel
I'm not at all surprised that you already have over 70k subs Karen. The first vid of yours I watched (thank you UA-cam for recommending it), I just thought "Yes!". In a fire I would grab my faux fur coats, I have quite a few : a yeti type in grey and white; a leopard print and a winter white are my favourites. Also my Karen Millen black suede block heeled long boots.
What I would grab is this beige kimono that my mom made in the '80s. The fabric is textured, I want to say burlap (but not quite lol), and it is one of a kind so that would definitely have to come with me.
Your spirit and reactions makes me smile. I’d grab the jewels first, essential documents and cards, some photos and as many of my beloved shoes as I could hold. I love everything in my wardrobe, but I’d do my my best to save my Chanel jackets. Hoping you made the front of the queue at Reformation....looking forward to the show and tell😀 X Deb
Quarantine binging rn. I think my 6 fire pieces (I don't know how many space do I have in my arms so I'm just gonna go with six like you did) are: first and foremost, my old beloved and always reliable black docs. Second, my fav pair of jeans that I think looks good on me (and I always have a hard time finding a pair of jeans bc my waist is smol and my butt is big). A pair of vintage white high waisted pants what are ridiculously well done and have this amazing tailoring (the zipper and button are in the back!!!). My dad's old black leather jacket, an oversized gem that goes with EVERYTHING. A tiny brown leather purse that belonged to my mom when she was a teen but I stole from her when I started to like fashion. And finally my beloved fashion journal
Karen l just can’t stop watching you. Wow the way you talk about fashion is like you are verbally cooking with words your passion is deliciously infectious. How beautiful to do what your love 🤗❤️ Thanku for making me fall back in love with styling and individuality again 🙏🏿🔥🔥
KAREN, you are such a joy to watch. Your taste is IMPECCABLE!!!!!!! I too love fashion. Your content is not for me because i am a man, can't explain it, you're just a guilty pleasure of mine......in the best way possible. Do you, or have you ever considered hosting a shopping trip for a small group of your followers to some of your favorite vintage shops in the city? I would be first to sign up. For those of us that love vintage, and shopping, and NYC, and your fun vibes, it would be a blast. Exhausting, no doubt, but still fun. Here's hoping.......😃........keep the content coming!!!!!
I'd grab my cat and my childhood teddy bear, and I love my wardrobe! I just don't care enough about it to worry about it in a fire. I consider that a good thing.
I'm the same way....there's legitimately NOTHING in my closet that I would just have to grab. I started watching Karen's videos because I love that she gives relatable advice from a fun perspective. I continue to watch because she's helping me figure out what my aesthetic is. Hopefully, sooner than later, I'll develop a closet full of pieces that speak to me. And you don't need to be sad, just be thoughtful from this point forward :-).
I Love this!!! I see so many things that I would love to have but guilt always wins. It's a bit harder because I have a daughter and she comes first. But I always find it funny that I have to get angry and say, "I DESERVE THIS" to justify buying things I want. Anger should not come in to play when buying something you love. Women! LOL!!!!!!
I may have actually had that dress in my teens. It looks soooo familiar. Love it! Store this special collection in one container so that you can grab it immediately in any emergency. Same goes for important papers and keepsakes.
Karen, STOP IT!!! I have now gone around my house checking the smoke alarms lol...What would I grab??? The question is too hard lol I need to think long and hard, I will get back to you with that one, but meanwhile... That dress Karen! That dress...I am NOT an envious person, but that dress Karen, my brain is saying to my heart,"why is'nt that dress hanging in my wardrobe "??? Because it's hanging on Karen's back instead of mine :-( lol...love love love that dress, you lucky lucky girl. Your enthusiasm and love for the clothes you own or going to own, when talking about them, is infectious, you look like the cat that got the cream lol. Thank you so much for making this video for us, now I am sat wondering, what your going to bye at this sale?? I cannot wait, I'm sooooooo excited, your just too fabulous for words. Brit chick 2 Brit chick X
My vintage Fossil leopard and leather satchel...my vintage distressed Levi’s denim jacket passed down from a long ago best friend, who bought it at a thrift shop while in design school at FSU...my ankle length black and floral silky kimono, because it reminds me of my Mom...and my wedding dress, a Champagne color tea length full lace, open back, with high ruffle neck, long sleeves with ruffle wrist, and satin ribbon belt...wore it with champagne color braided silk strappy ankle wrap heels...and a boho wreath of cream colored roses and baby’s breath on my head with long ribbons that hung down the back, that matched the belt on the dress....✌️💜💋
I love how passionate you are about style! Very inspiring and just plain fun to watch! I would grab ALL my jeans. I live in them and have a good collection. I’d grab my Theory corduroy trench coat, a few handbags and some of my jewelry pieces.
I loved this! Your energy is so incredible and I love that dress! At the moment I have a few 'fire' pieces. The main one is a vintage Harrods cashmere coat in navy. It used to belong to my aunt and I've had it for years now (about 20) and it's still imaculate and timeless. I also have a pair of vintage black embossed leather trousers (sound gross, but they are stunning), that I got from a friend of my mom's when she cleared out her wardrobe, a liberty blue pre-loved dress from & Other Stories. A vintage brown suede jacket/blazer that belonged to my dad (he was a very skinny young man LOL) and vintage band tees that are from the original concerts of my fav bands (that I actually went to) :)
I've got a show and coat addiction too! My 3 fire pieces would be my Staud Bissett, as I bought for myself to celebrate the first year of my business. Also some fabulous irreplaceable vintage finds, a Balenciaga blue taffeta wrap and a 1980s silk CHANEL scarf that I've had forever.
Yes to a reformation haul.....I would save (after hubbie and two cats) a vintage hand tooled small caramel colored bag with top handle & silver studs that I added a long silver chain to for over the shoulder wear...it is beautiful and unique!
I love your style and your videos, but because my body type is soooo different from yours, I never thought that so many of the same (style) items would be your and my favorites, i.e. worth saving from losing them forever. I am talking about your dress, coat and sun glasses. Items that I would grab are of course not identical but the identical in style. I don't know what that means, maybe that your style is more universally flattering than I previously thought?! In any case, thanks for the great video. 💖
Fire Pieces! That is such great advice! I stand in front of my over-loaded closet and always grab the same things. I think I'm finally beginning to understand my style. Thank you!
My mom's blue navy blazer from 1973. I am having it tailored to fit me, I'm smaller than her now, when she was my age. That's crazy, because I was much larger than her. I'm a lot smaller now. I also would grab my new gingham check by Ann Taylor. It's a dress that will be in style for years. Oh, and my silk long slip dress for a formal occasion years ago. I could go to the Met in that dress.
Thank u for ur lovely vids..and sharing your journey..my 3 faves and must keeps..my brown riding boots I've had for years, the older they get,the better the look..2nd my Kenneth Cole raincoat from Nordstrom and last a black/white halter maxi dress, extra long, the 1st maxi I bought when they 1st came out!😁
Sherrita - hello. Your comment re: the riding boots caught my attention because I have had a black pair for about 11 years now that are so well broken in they feel like butter on my feet😉
Karen, I have a pair of 4 year old Calvin Klein black riding pants, and he typically will repeat clothing and I have not seen those pants since I purchased them, I think the original price was $129 and I paid $20, and I always get compliments when I have those pants on!
First off, this amazing video reminded me of why I love you and your videos so much. You have taught me sho much about style. I've mentioned before, don't expect you to remember but, I am 60yrs old and this was my year i decided to update and reinvent my style. Wish I had that gorgeous dress in my size! Always have loved boho/ hippie style. Also I remember everytime I see those boots, I need to head to 2nd hand store to find cowboy boots to cut down. You've given me a new fascination with small bags and Aviators. And I have a similar coat except it's dark lightweight denim, I bought I believe in the late 90's. I was going to donate until I saw the similar style being worn still now, and changed my mind. AGAIN, LOVE THIS VIDEO!! Wish I could attach a pic, don't think I can on UA-cam. Anyway, I have to think about what I would grab, clothing wise. Have a great rest of your day!!
My tortoiseshell cult Gis bag,, my jewelry box stuffed into a back pack, Jones of New York faux fur swing coat, and my vintage! Dooney & Bourke Doctor Bag that I've had for over thirty years...…
Wow!!!! Looking back at some of my fav videos of yours and this video is a KEEPER. I absolutely love it more each time I watch it! It makes me LOL!🎉❤ But it also scares me to death...because I seriously need to gather together my pieces that it would be HARD to replace. Think I'll put them in a vault!!! 😮
Well done! I would probably grab anything I own by chanel - would not really matter, I only acquire and or receive chanel pieces for sentimental events, so any piece would be fine. That said I know I would be too concerned about my fur babies to even grab anything. Mmm, you have me thinking about making / grouping a quick stash to grab! G-d forbid!
hey you said something brilliant - ask other vloggers "if there was a fire in my place what clothes would I grab..." Again, love the Halston skirt - lovelovelove
These are my wardrobe pieces to never throw away. What are yours??? Tell me your top 3!
KarenBritChick 3 pieces I'd never throw away: 1. My Levi 501 tapered slightly distressed jeans because they're super comfortable and seasonally versatile. 2. Aw I’m sorry to hear. But as I’m sure you know, life is more important than ‘things’. And despite your loss of your amazing sounding collection , you are alive to live another day!
That Halston skirt is ART...amazing.

My “save from the fire” never throw away pieces:
1) Black leather vest
2) Dooney and Bourke florentine leather shopper because it’s big enough to throw other bags inside!
3) black leather and suede boots
4) black Eddie Bauer Stay Shape curvy slacks
5) brown and cream argyle cashmere sweater because its thick and yummy and was gifted to me by a co-worker
It only took 7 edits (ok, it really took 9) to come up with this final list, and I still couldn’t get it down to 3 items.....

I've gotta say Karen, my fav videos are those where you talk directly to the camera. You never fail to brighten my day.
Loved this video! So fun that they weren't "basics" as wardrobe staples. All wild and vibrant - love it!

I too LOVE my Chanel square mini. Lots of people like the rectangular but the square always called my name! Love your videos!

Levi’s Trucker Jacket, teal metallic leather Birkenstocks, LV Neo Noe in Saffron (and 10 more handbags hung on my neck!)
The handbag image!
Love the handbag comment!!!
Love love love the Halston skirt!
It's always the best when you get so excited about your clothes. It's like the item is brand new every time you look at it!
The gold skirt 😍😍😍 ‼️‼️
"Why the hell am I talking about the weather?!" You're British - it's what we do! X
Karen - you're a Hoot & Adorable! Luv ya! You make me laugh - your enthusiasm is wonderful as is your style - & your help incomparable!
You deserve the 70k subscribers!
I laughed out loud over ’ I would probably just wear these glasses -they would look cool’ haha with the house on fire....you are so funny.
The one that got away for me is the L.A.M.B. Glazed Love Asti bag in green. I saw it & fell in love. Not even sure if it’s around used anymore
Karen, you are great! You always make me more excited about fashion and you spark my creativity. Thanks for sharing and congratulations on 70K!!
Kareness! When i go thrifting, I always say "Karen would love this!" 💙 I would grab my vintage Rem Garson long suede coat
I don't know if it's sad or I am enlightened but there is NOTHING in my closet that I would grab.
I'm leaning towards sad. :)
Women! LOL!!!!!!
Monique Harcum I was inspired by your reply😉
:)
Those Chloe glasses with your hair is just giving me Glam 70s vibes - I love it
I may have actually had that dress in my teens. It looks soooo familiar. Love it! Store this special collection in one container so that you can grab it immediately in any emergency. Same goes for important papers and keepsakes.
Karen, STOP IT!!! I have now gone around my house checking the smoke alarms lol...What would I grab??? The question is too hard lol
I need to think long and hard, I will get back to you with that one, but meanwhile...
Linda Munro Me too. If Karen had a fire and I was nearby, I'd grab that dress !!! It's amazing.
HAAAA!! So funny!!
Love the bum bag trick!
Karen, u are simply inspirational.
You inspire me to step out of my box!!! Love your videos!!!!
i think about your blue trench so often! SUCH a gorgeous piece. Vintage is everything
You're genuine love and excitement for clothes and styling makes my day and totally inspires me when I get ready in the morning! I love your videos
Your hairstille is fantastic!!! You look beautiful!!! Top 3 dress, dress, dress! Love you!!!
That dress is sooo gorgeous! Ultimate find!
Omg that dress is to DIE FOR!!!! Beyond gorgeous.
Yes to a reformation haul.....I would save (after hubbie and two cats) a vintage hand tooled small caramel colored bag with top handle & silver studs that I added a long silver chain to for over the shoulder wear...it is beautiful and unique!
"Kareness". Your unique take on style brings sooo much joy. Thank you for being such an inspiration. Xo
Ooooo I finally found that vintage gold Halston skirt online and bought it! It is EVERYTHING. It's like owning liquid gold. KarenBritChick is genius.
I loveee your enthusiasm!
Thank you!
Yes please 👍🏾. Reformation haul would be great!!! Haven't been to a sample sale in years .
That gold skirt, LOVE!
AND that blue trench coat WOW!
I'd grab my Fendi handbags, stack of jeans, linen shirts, gold jewelry! Love your content! Keep it up, you're doing a great job!!!!
Pleeease show us your wedding dress!!! 😄 And yes to Reformation haul. Will look for my "fire pieces" now... 😉
My Vintage Gucci Tote. Lol the way you were grabbing those clothes was hilarious! And yes a video of your finds!
I saw you on Rachel Ray!!! Yayyyy! Congratulations! Great job!
Karen, I have a pair of 4 year old Calvin Klein black riding pants, and he typically will repeat clothing and I have not seen those pants since I purchased them, I think the original price was $129 and I paid $20, and I always get compliments when I have those pants on!
I have a vintage white dress with a soft red rose design. It has an Empire waist, short sleeves and a flowing mid-calf hem. Its perfect.🌹
You and your fashions are: "poetry in motion" !!! You are so very unique. Also, just adore that gold skirt!! Fluid & flashy💎
My tortoiseshell cult Gis bag,, my jewelry box stuffed into a back pack, Jones of New York faux fur swing coat, and my vintage! Dooney & Bourke Doctor Bag that I've had for over thirty years...…
That blue trench coat is my absolute favourite!
Fun as always karen bless you
70K is just the beginning darling! Your fabulous!!!
G-d forbid!
Your blue coat is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hey you said something brilliant - ask other vloggers "if there was a fire in my place what clothes would I grab..." Again, love the Halston skirt - lovelovelove
