I am from Paris and love to get my knits at a specialized cashmere shop during Summer sales. I think they last for ever and you can just add one or 2 every year to your collection and you will be fine. I've bought Maje sweaters before but it was completely ruined after the wash :( I never dared to buy they're knits again. I love to get my knits at Eric Bompard. I think they make the best long lasting cashmere in France, and there basic line are not over expensive. They do great sales too 😍
KarenBritChick vintage or men’s hm premier quality on sale also these are the best sweaters I’ve ever seen and they are handmade seriously lux, the Steve McQueen sweater on all the old photos that’s from them ... They inherit ! www.aransweatermarket.com/cardigans-and-jackets
by buying these you are supporting the small community on Aran islands outside of Ireland where both the wool is produced and the knitting done ! Absolutely mulesing free - I’ve seen the sheep with my own eyes and they are the most pampered sheep ever ! So you do a good deed and get something which will last and last and is beautiful!
My local thrift stores! Loved looking at the men's section. I found a few pieces of vintage wool sweaters for $3. Btw uniqlo I thought has the best sweaters from your video. Thanks for sharing.
I live in a small city that does not house the majority of these shops so I must travel or shop online to get any of their items. I greatly appreciate the work you put into your content. It guides me as I make my purchases. You are my hero when it comes to this topic. Thank you so much!!!
Karen, why is it that mens clothing is better quality and less expensive than women's? I am looking to buy a blazer but even high end brands are lining their women's blazers with polyester. There is such a selection in mens and far easier to find a viscose lining. I have found that mens cashmere is available in 2 or even 3 ply so will last much longer. Please do a part 2 as this was a great video especially as you commented on the feel and weight of the items which you can't tell if shopping online.
Maybe because women like shopping and do so primarily based on looks? Maybe for men they go for more durable pieces that need to be bought less often. It’s pretty pervasive. I buy XL pajamas from the boys section for 1/4 the price of women’s.
This is because more women are interested in shopping than men. Most men but what they need when they need it, and they are prepared to spend money to get exactly what they need (because they rarely make clothing purchases). The women’s market is, in comparison, much more competitive. More women than men shop as a pastime, and they tend to be more interested in trends. Clothing with embellishments or out-of-the-box styles is more expensive to make....so if you have to fix the price point in order to be competitive then you must cheapen the quality.
i buy mens for button down, sweaters and leather jackets - those pieces are still in my collection after 5+ years meanwhile most of my women's items have been phased out since they looked so old
I am going to start doing the same as I am finding that even brand new and still in the shop the womenswear is of an inferior quality and it is a waste of my money to buy a garment that is not going to last.
Really enjoyed the format Karen. I’m always one to check the fabric tag as I’m a natural fibre only what it comes to knits. The cheap synthetic fibres don’t keep you warm or wash and wear well imo. You chose well here and your styling at the end was impeccable. Also it was good to see some of your older pieces being reworked for the new season. Thanks Karen. 💕Deb
I buy my sweaters and coats at thrift stores. I’ve bought 100% cashmere or wool for under $25 in perfect condition. Also found Burberry sweaters in the men section for the oversized trend. Can you do a video on your vintage jumpers and coats? I love seeing items that are well made and can stand the test of time. Love ya! Thanks.
Yup. The 99 cent sale at my GW has me spoiled. I passed up a very nice blazer yesterday because it was $7 at a different GW. I have so many blazers in great condition for 99 cents. All of the tweed and houndstooth mens blazers I thrifted for $5 I gave to my son as I feel the women's blazers fit me better.
Hey Karen! Please do an update on how the jumpers held up after a few weeks. It'll be interesting to see which jumpers have the best quality after a few washes as expensive jumpers don't always mean great quality.
@@KarenBritChick ..... 👀🖐 hi hi Karen is it possible to hear, even in-part, as to how well sweaters held up, or not, after machine and/or hand washing from last fall/winter/early spring?
I'd love to know how well the Uniqlo sweaters perform after washing and wearing. Future video idea? quality of clothes after wearing and washing Vs price, especially as slow fashion movement is growing.
From my experience, they wash very well! I follow the washing instructions carefully and so far, I've gotten two years out of my Uniqlo cashmere without any visible signs of wear. I'd love to hear Karen's opinions on it!
Awe, Karen, thank you so much for this video! I just love how you balance between chic and casualness. I admire your style, and learn a lot from you! You always inspire me to be bolder and think out of the box! Thank you 😊
Hey Karen! Great selections. Loved the Uniglo sweaters the best as I live in California and would get more wear out of them. The colors in Maje and Cos were fabulous. Love the outfits, at the end. Great haul!
Hi Karen! I love your videos! on these kind of videos you should show us the composition of the clothes and where they are made! I think that makes a big difference on the prices and not just the luxurious,or not,look/feel. This would actually help to pick up quality items worth the investment! Love your accent and your style!
Karen!! That styling session towards the end is my favorite thing you've ever done on your channel! Every outfit was divine! I was getting withdrawal from the new schedule, but oh so worth it!
Love the knit tour, surprised though that you didn't read the composition of the fabrics. That will tell you what will happen with wash and wear, and what to avoid.
Hi karen..nice that ur doing shopping vlogs and not just buying online..buying online is good but i want to see how u choose when buying items inside the shop..thanks
Karen, you outdid yourself on this video!!!!! This is beyond helpful as I don't have all these stores nearby and there is nothing like seeing things in person. What a time saver.....love love!! And your styling was the cherry on top wow!
My internet cousin Karen is always, ALWAYS nailing every look!!! You gave me that 70's chic vibe with all your looks that I am loving! Brilliant as usual and thanks for the tips!
Friday took so long to come, but well worth the wait. Loved the format. The pink uniqlo polo neck looked amazing on you. Think that will be the one I buy. Thank you ! x
I feel like people don't often consider outdoorsy brands for fashion sweaters, but in my experience, the BEST sweaters come from L.L. Bean and Land's End, and both of those brands are affordable and go on sale a lot. The quality is amazing, I actually tried washing my bright red Land's End sweater in hot water WITH my white LL Bean sweater to *purposely* dye the white one pink (I know, weird idea I had) and I COULDN'T get the red to fade. Nothing happened, lol. Talk about color fastness! They're great, classic sweaters which are always on trend and super functional.
LOVE this format. Not only do I learn so much, it's like Im there shopping with you. Really prepares me for when I go buy jumpers and to not waste time at certain stores!
Karen, just had to say that in my humble opinion, this video was the best and most informative you’ve ever done! So good 😊 please do more in this style. Love from England xx plus my son really likes your backing music 😎
OMGosh Karen, you’ve saved me soo much time. Thank you. I love a thin knit classic turtleneck so to Uniqlo I go to stock up. Have to go watch your show-and-tell part now 👍😄
Agreed. Get that one investment piece. After that for me I'd get a couple of other pieces that are different but fill the gaps in my sweater need and that's it. Once it's really cold it's all about the coat anyway!
I really enjoyed this. It was so great to see and hear your commentary on the various styles and options. I think my fave outfit that you styled was the navy/snakeskin combo as well as the Gap men's sweater with the silk skirt. Gorgeous!
Thanks for your hardwork and pavement pounding. Just returned for 4 days in NY and walked miles daily, so loved revisiting some of the shops I stopped in .... I found NYC v expensive compared to UK so was happy to browse and purchase now back home. Loved this format Karen x thanks again for taking us shopping
This way of going into the stores and then styling what you find is my favorite. More interesting to see you about New York to then come back home to style what you find.
I'm trying to comment on my favourite styling outfit but I. CAN. NOT.! they're all too goooood! I love this type of video Karen, you're so right - knits are hard to judge when you see them online vs irl. Thank you! This was sooo helpful 😍
The styling! Amazing. I would never think to pair colors (lime jacket) like you do, or fabrics (satin and knit, pink &maroon!) You definitely know how to style yourself! !
Hello Karen 😘 nice video! Just wanted to say that Cachemire under 100$ won’t last long I’ve bought them few years ago and they lasted just 2 seasons but it was so nice to wear them they were so warm. But definitely we have to buy a bigger sizing. Some of H&M sweaters aren’t good quality they make a sort of small balls when you wear them and I heat that 🤬
This video was so good! Appreciate the reviews to help us decide where we might want to shop according to our price point and quality we're looking for. Thank you Karen! It's great to have an idea of what's out there this season! And love the colors for fall /winter! Much love 💕
OH MY! Just moved back to the states from Italy and am just begging for cooler weather so I can break out my found vintage Italian blazers and the like. This video gave me absolute life! Please keep this format for a bit as we’re planning a Thanksgiving trip to my beloved east coast and it will help with wardrobe planning! Stay classy!💕
I’ll start buying men’s sweaters (and blazers, that will keep my tailor busy). At least I’ll get some inside pockets. Thanks for this comparison video! On second thought, wonder if my husband will notice if I go shopping in his closet, he has nice sweaters.
Loved this! I don't have access to brick & mortar stores with much variety so I shop online. It was fantastic to see them and "feel" them through your hands. Thank you, Karen. I just ordered the merino wool sweaters from Uniqlo. You're so good to us.
this was value packed and definitely worth the wait. You gave the complete shop, comparison and try-on (always my favourite part.) Immensely helpful, thank you Karen.
Thank you for this video. Well spent > 30 minute video, IMO. Video hits/meets my criteria: useful information (who, what, where, why) combined with modern aesthetics and entertaining presentation. I also weigh in the construction/sewing/stitching of a piece. Would like to see similar video on silks. I have seen many (and bought) silks in the stores you shopped in in this video.
Great video! Favorite sweater I ever had was one from the 70s that I stole from my Dad in the 90s! Wish I still had it, a camel colored, ribbed turtleneck. but he stole it back a couple of years later, then my mom did a big clearout...:(. Hitting the Gap men's section for that camel sweater, thanks for the tip!
Touching on your point about adapting to what you can afford, all my knits are thrifted because I would never be able to afford the quality I want new. Some of the brands are the same as featured, others are labels I might not ordinarily think of but because of the cut and the fabric, I try them on and if they work for me I'll get them. Here in the UK I've noticed many charity shops are increasing their prices and the prices often don't match the quality so these bargains are becoming even harder to find. Still, I've managed to get cashmere, extra fine merino wool, lambswool, some nice viscose blend items etc. I think the majority of my most luxurious items have not been bought new, but they are new to me and allow me a confidence and contentment in my own style. Do I sometimes wish I could just buy new? Of course, and it does mean I have to compromise on certain things but sometimes that's a good thing because you can make new discoveries outside your comfort zone.
Terrific video and content, Karen! I personally felt I was shopping with you ❤️ Thanks for all the nice work 👍 Now I know where to really spend my money on and what’s worth it in stores! Big hug your way 🤗
I cannot agree with that. I like clothes that hold for long, and have a timeless staple look - and I try to make such clothes. The BIGGEST issue is finding good quality materials!
Late to the party on this video, but we only just started autumn in Australia... loved this video, especially the styling component at the end. The way you mix colours is so inspiring! X
I love Uniqlo, my daughter gave me 2 turtleneck sweaters (an olive green and a black) and a thick(burgundy) legging for winter last year, the quality hasn't changed a bit... I think I will buy other colors from them this year.
I loved that video so much that I don't mind waiting for Friday!!! I loved seeing all those different textures and colors. Helps to know what to look for. If that wasn't enough, the styling segment at the end was so good. I just loved the leopard dress/with blk turtle neck and the biker jacket....so many ideas!! GREAT video Karen...looking forward to next Friday.(Oh, I use these videos when I go out to shop, for a point of reference).(:-)))

I didn't realize until you said that!

aww thank you!
My favourite cashmere jumpers are Marks & Spencer, great quality, great price and you can machine wash them.

Hi Karen, thank you for taking us shopping. Enjoyed everything about the video, please do more like this.
Thank you for doing all the leg work. I love the focus on one item and going to so many stores. Off to Uniqlo
That was awesome Karen! So useful for me. Now I know, where to shop the chunky sweaters.
yeessssss
Bravo!! I love all of the outfit combos...and this format is cool!!!!
Fantastic video! I love it when you do this. The comparison shopping and then styling is very helpful. Please do part 2
I love how you styled all the sweaters!
I live in Uniqlo cashmere in the winter. So warm and comfortable.
Love the oversized oatmeal sweater! Not sure what size to get, I am 5 feet 9, probably a small, otherwise it is too baggy. Thanks for the great video.
What a wonderful idea to look at men’s sweaters!!! Oh my gosh! I never would have thought of that🤗
Loved the styling with satin skirts!

This is my favorite video of yours. Loved both the shopping and styling at the end.
This is such an amazing jam packed sweater Intel video. I thank you from the bottom of my wallet! You are simply the best!!!
I missed you on Tuesday but if this is what we are getting on Friday..........I can definitely wait!!! Amazing job!!! Thank you!!!
I love every ensemble you put together! Thanks for taking us shopping with you! I felt like I was with you!
Terrific video and content, Karen! I personally felt I was shopping with you ❤️ Thanks for all the nice work 👍 Now I know where to really spend my money on and what’s worth it in stores! Big hug your way 🤗
Men’s quality is usually so much better than women’s. Crazy!
Robin Alves women throw away so much more and care about style over quality. Retail fact

Karen that BLUE TOPSHOP SWEATER is gorgeous and now its mine!!! Thanks so much! Lots of great inspo and great sweaters!!!!
Love the video! Giving me all the winter inspiration girl 😍 was not expecting the music between product descriptions 😂😂
I love Uniqlo, my daughter gave me 2 turtleneck sweaters (an olive green and a black) and a thick(burgundy) legging for winter last year, the quality hasn't changed a bit...
I think I will buy other colors from them this year.
That's good to know that they lasted you!
I love these kinds of videos. They’re very helpful and fun to watch.
