Thanks for sharing Kev. I've been very disappointed with the efficacy of corner routines I use, scoring less than 5 goals per season in total for all players, and I have a 6'7 tall 19 jumping reach CB ... Hopefully the far post routine can at least double that and bring us some vital points.
A how to guide for us new players on choosing a tactic when starting would be nice. I'm not talking about just do what assistant manager tells you to do, but an tutorial on how to asses your squad and choose a tactic from their abilities/stats/etc. All in all a "how to read a squad and make a tactic from that when taking over a club".
I'm not the best by any means, but the way I go about it is that the players you have dictates your formation and tactics. I play 442 long ball as it suits all my players. Just check all the pre set formations and see what positions/roles they imply. I don't put CBs into NCBs role, or an inverted winger into a wingers spot. Heck i won't even put an attacking winger as a supporting winger, I am that strict. But It works wonders for me. Don't pay attention to stars and try and get your coaching staff to match your formation.
Hi Kev, I’m also doing a non-league to legend save, a “how to” on your scouting and what you do/allow/don’t allow would be great! Thanks for all the great content!
I want to add that in my save I applied the same strategy (put the tall boys in an area and send the ball there) for indirect free kicks with fairly similar results.
A deep drive into scouting would be great. Can’t seem to get recruitment focus working, just throws up players who need work permits or players who aren’t good enough.
Thank you kev your corner tactics was the finishing piece I needed in my tactics to get my Northern Ireland team qualifying for the Euros. Do you have anything that can help with free kicks?
I get that I have to subscribe to this setup on the Steam workshop, but where do I go from there? Do they then show up as something I can enable on the set piece screen? 🤔
I don’t touch it, no need to playing single player. If I’m in the showdown I might add an extra player to the near post because everyone overloads the near post, but even that isn’t essential
Kev. I need some assistance. I'm currently at Notts County thanks to a RNG. I have a 15 jumping reach, 14 heading defender on the far post, tried him on the near past, tried him attacking near & far post. However 24 games into the season & I've not scored a single goal from corners. I've also never had a corner scored against me. What did I do wrong
Unfortunately, only the near post one is in Steam Workshop, and I can't see what's going on with the far post one to recreate it because your screen is in the way. 😑
The “simpler” fm23 touch seems to have hidden scouting. I’m missing out on wonderkids etc as I seem to have to go through each team manually scouting individuals rather than sending scouts out. Kev won’t necessarily need to help if anyone has figured it out (which drop-down menu it’s in)???
Awesome series as always best fm channel by far, this is a top vid and will be adding this to my save. Keep it up kev the whole channel is a joy to watch
Can we show this to Sunderland AFC.. We've had 120 corners in a row without scoring from one of them. spend a few days af the academy of light and sort it Kev... Please!!!
Does the game randomly rotate the set pieces instructions if you've got more than one loaded? I have only one type set currently and it's definitely hindering me
@@lollujo I hate the corner setup. For some reason, the yellow line is just going to the MK and it has a question mark, and I have no idea how to get the line to the FP. That's why I'd like a download because I just hate this screen.
I appreciate the video, but it has two errors. 1. No corner taker is selected. The formation has 11 players involved without a taker... 2. Mentions "Height is irrelevant in FM23," but in the next sentence and in all other explanations of his choices mentions height as a consideration.
Height isn't irrelevant though, full backs around 6ft+ generally get the most blocks per game, because they block crosses and shots more than shorter players. regardless of jumping reach.
If you’re getting bogged down in those kind of details there must be some big fundamental stuff you’re getting wrong. Otherwise these details just don’t matter.
Kev at the start when u said for people to click off at the start and download it, it probably made loads of people click of to go and do it meaning they don’t watch the rest of the video ruining watch time which then makes it harder to recommend
This wasn’t a video for recommended. This was a video for search. So the priority was to give people the answer they’re looking for as quickly as possible.
@@lollujo you are a true saint btw love ur content lots of other people would’ve tried to drag it on (cough cough Zealand) but you get straight to the point which I love. Sorry if I came across as rude btw. Keep up the amazing content
I would definitely want to see some more “how to/guide” video’s please Kev 👍
I second that we need more insight into how the best FM player does his business
Ah yeah definitely.. anyone who can kick Zealand's ass in fm is worth listening to 👌👌
Only if it don't effect his non league to legend series
yes please!
A killer setup, thanks! Goals from corners increased significantly for my team and put me up to the 2nd place in the Premier League

Nice one mate, scored two corners in the first match that I used this! Far post is a beast
Finally! Thank you sir, have been watching the streamer showdowns for years and often wondered when you were going to share your brilliant set pieces.
Hi Kev,
I’m also doing a non-league to legend save, a “how to” on your scouting and what you do/allow/don’t allow would be great!
Thanks for all the great content!
I just changed mine to follow this and got a goal from it in the first game! Impressed so far!
Thanks Kev! Gonna try it. Do u have some numbers? How many goals did your central deffenders score last season?
Not specifically, but probably around 20 between them over the season.
I jus endedup using "mixed" for once and stick people on the near and far post, get goals from both but far post is def the most consistent
Hi Kev, just the near post one is on the Steam Workshop, do you plan on also adding the far post one? Cheers and thanks!
I want to add that in my save I applied the same strategy (put the tall boys in an area and send the ball there) for indirect free kicks with fairly similar results.
Simple and efficient 😃
The far post one isn't on the Steam Workshop. Just the near post which loads in game as "routine 1".
Been looking forward to this
Thank you so much. My defenders are prolific right now!
A deep drive into scouting would be great. Can’t seem to get recruitment focus working, just throws up players who need work permits or players who aren’t good enough.
There is only the "Near Post"-variety called "Route 1" in the Steam Workshop (Germany)
I have the same problem
Thank you kev your corner tactics was the finishing piece I needed in my tactics to get my Northern Ireland team qualifying for the Euros. Do you have anything that can help with free kicks?
Great video! Thanks for everything!
I get that I have to subscribe to this setup on the Steam workshop, but where do I go from there? Do they then show up as something I can enable on the set piece screen? 🤔
Kev makes 8min video about Buying 6ft5 defenders. Load up the front post. Aim for them. Simples 👍
Far post. This isn’t FM22.
@@lollujo sorry my bad. Forgot we have evolved to a new dynamic form of the beautiful game
Cheers Kev, how do you set up your defense on corners
I don’t touch it, no need to playing single player. If I’m in the showdown I might add an extra player to the near post because everyone overloads the near post, but even that isn’t essential
Love this Kev
Loving the videos, this is super handy! What player instructions do you set?
Kev. I need some assistance.

do you have a freekick routine?
Great video. But could you move your camera to the left side perhaps next time? So we can see the exact instructions in the corner. :)
Tactical genius
I downloaded it from the workshop but it only seems to have the near post one
Can you do a sideline coaching tutorial?
Unfortunately, only the near post one is in Steam Workshop, and I can't see what's going on with the far post one to recreate it because your screen is in the way. 😑
Not sure the most recent one is on the workshop yet Kevin

Kev I find scouting really complicated. And also training!
Leave them both to your staff. I can’t think of a good reason to touch either of them.
@@lollujo That's a proper tutorial, right there.
Can we show this to Sunderland AFC.. We've had 120 corners in a row without scoring from one of them. spend a few days af the academy of light and sort it Kev... Please!!!
update.... 127 corners and last minute of injury time in FA cup.. we finally score from a corner... it worked Kev...
Do you find that "play for set pieces" helps? (Other than getting the board off my back). It looks like you don't have it ticked.
I wouldn't. Completely slows down your play.
@@bobofindlay thanks - I always wondered what the downside was!
@@Simon.Thornley your players will play for a corner etc instead of getting crosses etc.
More how to please likeother set pieces and staff
How do i get the corner tactics if i play the windows version not steam can i still download it
How do you download your corner tactic?
My defender (gabriel maghales ) have just scored a hatrick to win aganist juve in the ucl quarter final
What about free kicks? Is there a trick to those as well?
I don’t ever touch them. If they’re out wide, it defaults to your corner tactic anyway
Can you do the same thing with free kicks?
I don’t touch free kicks - it doesn’t seem necessary
Kev, I never touch defending corner tactic. Do you?
No, don’t see a need to
Savior
Is there a download for it?
Tried these routines and managed 3 corner goals, don't think I've ever had lower
Does the game randomly rotate the set pieces instructions if you've got more than one loaded? I have only one type set currently and it's definitely hindering me
Yes
For us on game pass, it is possible to get this from somewhere else than Steam Workshop?
Take a screenshot of the video qnd put the players on place. Its simple. You're welcome =)
It’s pretty simple to set up just following the steps in the video

Don’t worry about the yellow line. Just aim the kicks at the far post for far post corners and near post for near post corners.

He scores so infrequently I didn’t know he had a celebration…

No worries. And thanks.
Corners are my biggest downfall on fm lol
Yeah my tallest player is 185cm, this ain't gonna work
Depends what their jumping reach is. But yeah, I’d prioritise signing some full size players.
"aim at big guy" video over ...
