Great tutorial. Nice to see different ways of doing things. Youngest son just bought a really nice Silverado and I'd like to surprise him by changing the Bowie color for him. This is another option I have. Thanks again for putting this out there. Just because it's not how some of your commentors would do it, don't make it wrong. And would someone please give the chick that made hers pink in 5 minutes a gold star, along with all the other people that feel the need to brag in your comments on how they did it another way & faster or what ever. Apparently no one liked their work in person or they wouldn't be looking for an "at a boy" pat on the back here on YOUR video comments LMAO Once again thanks for sharing your way of going about it, much appreciated.
This is an amazing video. I'm surprised this video hasn't gotten loads of comments and more views. Definitely easier for me to do this as opposed to the other methods made available online.
i was pleasantly surprised at how well that vinyl stuck on my impala. it has withstood two harsh South Dakota winters and numerous car washes and road trips and still looks like the day I applied it.
Going to try this with a carbon fiber vinyl wrap. I tried cutting the vinyl, but it wasn't perfect, and any overlay decals I find seem to only be offered in matte or glossy
Do the Gold inlays on the Bowties come off the same way in all model years? I just bought a 2024 model and I'm told the bowtie is a different size than previous years. I want to do this but until I know it will come off with some heat and a credit card or other type of tool to get behind it, like with previous years I'm afraid to try.
Either y'all got some poor vision or mine is outta sight, because that vinyl didn't contour to the insert well and appears very inconsistant. I used VHT Nite-shades then clear coat. The way the paint fills the contours looks great. I think your video is awesome and very well done!
@@NightFurySS when heat is applied will it smoothe wrinkles? I had cut out my own today and it was nearly impossible to get on wrinkle free, and using a card to squeegee only got some of them out.
I tried that but couldn't keep the gold from bleeding through at the sharp corners and I'm way to picky to have left it that way. First time I used vinyl to wrap something like this, though. Thanks for the comment!
I talked to a wrap shop and they told me they do it while it's on they don't take it off is that possible and it would stay on ? They just poked in there really good they said. Wonder if it would stay on like they said ? Some stores told me it won't stick good because it's textured. Does it stay on when you go to through the car wash
Jeff Prevett I did it with mine I used 3m vinyl wrap but I used gloves so it won’t get the oil of your hands. And it’s been on for a year abd a half. It’s been through high heat ,car wash ,freeway driving ,still good. I don’t hAve to take it off I just wrap it and the heat gun will shrink wrap it. You can also plastic dip too. Just mKe sure you put on multi coats. So it’s easy to peel off

did you do it this way by taking the whole emblem off or the other way? (just sticking the vinyl on and using a razor to cut around it)
@@emocraps07 I just put the vinyl tape on it and trimmed around it with a new sharp X-acto knfe. I wasnt even being careful and it turned out great!
@@billcenne7262 ok thats what I did and it turned out great as well.. went through 2 storms and a carwash so far and nothing wrong with it. 🙌🏻

does this work for chevy malibu 2009 cant find vids
Fyi, the golden colored insert is PLASTIC and WILL warp doing this method if you do it too fast, or with too high of heat.
Is that a regular hair dryer or more hotter if so what is it please
Just a regular hairdryer
Came out really nice i like it i want to change mine from that gold color to black thanks for sharing ~
Great video, thx. I did a quick fix using a black sharpy...looks fine
Could you do the bowtie in different colors beside ⚫ black
Awesome video! Thanks

Will a high wattage blow dryer do the trick for sealing? (heat) 2. do wrinkles go away out once heat is applied?
I stole my wife's hair dryer for this and it worked fine

Anyone know if Camaro rear bow ties are the same way?
I do the bow ties without removing the part. Takes only a few minutes to do and no gold bleeds through ..You made more work for yourself than needed.

Can you do the rear bow tie in the same way?
Yes
That seems like a lot of work. Where can I but a blacked out overlay for $24? Everywhere I look they are over a hundred.
grafxwerks.com had them
The music killed it for me..
Nice video, I did mine pink in less then 5 minutes though.
do you want a gold star? lol
Can you use any thing like a blow dryer
Yes, that's what I used here
NightFurySS oh ok cool. It looked like a heavy duty dryer
Nope, just borrowed it from the wife
Heat gun
$20 @ Walmart
How would you go about removing a vinyl bow tie sticker. My car came with a white bow tie and I want it to be the stock color
Eric Simoneau Heat, adhesive remover (nothing that may harm the gold underlay)
great video, great tips....but that noise!
I was thinking the same thing. I had to mute it!
Cool!
Perfect.
Wonderful Job! Thanks for sharing:)
Thank you!
nice tip bro..thanks
really great video man!
Thanks!
NICE JOB
I did mine in blue
what tool did you use to cut the edges?
An X-Acto knife
Way cleaner in gold just looks right in gold and chrome
I think mine fell off.:(
Would it be easier to just find a good spray paint?
Tried PlastiDip first but didn't like the look
music is so annoying I hate when people don't talk?
Simple enough for a woman to do.
I'm gonna wrap mine with carbon fiber with red outline.
SPRAY PAINT!
