You do a really good job with this, and as someone with little brothers in their formative gaming years, I can't thank you enough for putting out these thoughtful and all-encompassing series. They enjoy any board game we sit down to play, but there's definitely a science to making them interested in a box of rules that's something I never had to worry about when we played tabletop roleplaying games. It definitely takes a bit more work to be the host, but it's a heartening feat to take my two 16 year old brothers with their wildly diverging interests and personalities and have that shared experience together. Thank you for contributing to that!
Man, I've been teaching math and physics at undergradute level for more than 20 years now. Listening to your video made me realize that it is exaclty this what I do in my classes, and incidentally also when teaching games. The insight you have about this, and many things throughout all board games related, is really wonderful. Thanks for sharing your vision with us!
Just want you to know I wait eagerly for the next episode in this series. I'm a game evangelist of sorts among my friends, work colleagues and family, and very often I'm the one teaching a game. It's a difficult thing to to well; your series is really helping me. So thanks!
Awesome videos my man. I could not for the life of me figure out Eldritch Horror until I watched your videos. I wanted to mention something I found helps get my non-intense board game family members get...on....board. Ill learn the game ahead of time but on top of that, I will create a cheat sheet for each player to keep in front of them. With all of their turn orders, symbol meanings and tips. This helps because no one likes to ask the same question 10 times and feel dumb even though its obviously not dumb to do so.
Thanks! And kudos to you for going the extra mile! It's amazing to me how many games don't have a good reference card/sheet/guide/whatever when it's such an important resource. You can usually find some good cheat sheets on BGG if you want to save yourself the effort, but you probably know how your family will absorb info better.
@@RTFM Thanks. I didnt know about BGG. Im sure they can at least give me a good starting point. But yeah I do have to make my own like you said cause of the way they learn and understand lol.
That's my problem with Oath. A lot of UA-cam videos will give you the rules for that game but will never explain how certain actions get you closer to achieving your objectives.
I backed Oath on pure faith that Cole & company will sort out the details between now and KS fulfillment. I was surprised that there was never a Rodney Smith-style tutorial- I sorta figured out the rules by watching people play and reading the pdf from Kit A but I felt I had very limited ability to synthesize what I was seeing. Honestly, not a great way to sell people on a game, but then again they made over $1 million so I guess it wasn't that big of a deal. 🤔

Thank you so much! I really like making these videos, and it means a lot to hear that they're helpful for people.

Thank you so much! It actually feels pretty validating that a professional instructor supports my teaching style :)

Very key advice in this series. Thanks for the videos!
No problem, glad I could help!

Now THAT is a game ripe for a new streamlined version!
Oh, I would be SO into that!
Well, good job. Now I want this game.
Haha, well that wasn't my primary goal, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want more people to play Middle Earth Quest.
@@RTFM already got it!!!
@@reganfawley8362 Awesome! Hope you like it!
I think an episode for how the theme fits the mechanics (or vice-versa) is good and I also mention some simple tactics / strategies.
Great series! Do more!
That's the plan
