- BLUEGILL Fishing The Bottom Of a River [Catch, Cook] Hooked This GIANT Fish!!
In this video I was fishing the bottom of a river for some bluegill bream, I was using red worms and chicken liver for bait. My first cast out into the river didn't set very long before my first bluegill was hooked up. I threw out several more times after that and caught fish every time, unfortunately they were all small size fish and I released them. I decided to move to a new location along the riverbank and it didn't take long before I started catching a variety of fish and several eating size fish that I put into my ice cooler. Suddenly my fishing line took off on my bigger fishing rod, I waited a few seconds and I set the hook on a Giant River fish; it took all I could do to hold my fishing rod and wear the giant down. After a short battle I landed the fish and was able to get a measurement before safely releasing the battle tested river giant back into the river. By the end of the fishing trip, I had enough fish to bring home and cook up for dinner. #bluegill #fishfry #stompindirt

Nice to see a right handed fisherman not fishing left handed.
@@JoeStill-un9gp 😂😂 Thanks
Just can't beat fried panfish . 😊
@@highvoltageshooter1782 They are delicious!!
I almost always fillet my bluegill and Crappie because it's just easier than dealing with the bones, but my absolute favorite way to eat them (especially bluegill) is to simply scale, gut and fry them immediately in a pan without breading of any kind. Just salt, pepper and sometimes a little bit of green onions or some Cajun seasoning. Best tasting fish there is, IMO. Just a whole different flavor, texture and juiciness than the traditional fillet or whole fry with breading. Sometimes I don't even cut off the heads, because there is a lot of tasty meat there as well. Like I said, I don't do it often, and it's usually when I just want to catch 3-4 to just have a small meal, but it's always a treat.
@TNAROHfan I appreciate you sharing that, had em fried 1 time without breading and it was good!!
Love seeing what Florida fishing is like
@@lancecashler5547 Good stuff!!
@@StompinDirt you need to come to where i stay at in Raleigh Nc neause river you can catch catfish and bream bluegill fish all day in down South Nc.
@MarvinWyche-vf2pw I'm trying to get to where I can travel out and fish other states. My channel just hasn't made it to that next step just yet. I'd love to make it to the Carolinas though for sure!!!

Those $10 combos are hard to beat ! I re-spooled mine with 4# line. I like the rod more than the reel, rods are fiberglass..#8 hook ya say, isn't that a cricket hook ? Think I'm gonna have to downsize. Here's an idea for ya, biscuit dough..
@markbrown-rq6is rods are very good but yeah the reels are 1 of those you get what ya pay for so can't complain for sure . I'll keep that biscuit dough in mind! Preciate that!
What's the deal with biscuit dough...do I use it over chicken livers or straight on the hook ..never heard that before
@dantefrierson5797 people use dough balls to catch carp with. Just ball it up an put on the hook.
@@dantefrierson5797 as a kid, we used canned biscuit dough, panfish really liked it. It was cheap bait, not so much nowadays. Give it a try, you can also mix some cotton in for carp and catfish bait. Never thought about liver and biscuits, but it sounds good especially if you got gravy to go with it.
@markbrown-rq6is I'll give the dough a try, definitely need the gravy for the liver and biscuits and that's a great idea as well
Enjoyed the video I can eat the fish and tator tots leave them grits out lol
@@LorettaEvans744 😂😂😂Thanks!!
I’ll definitely try that salt trick.

Great meal and nice fishing I also put the salt on first then batter
Thanks I appreciate that and glad to hear about the salting fish first!👍👍
Damn yeah

That spot looks better than mine 😂! My spots are all low enough to walk through without getting your knees wet . Crystal clear water though cause it’s coming up from the springs. If I have patience and it’s not too hot I will take my fly rod out and just hide behind a tree and pick off a nice bass or two , you can see them cruising up the river now but they won’t hit lures , they have seen every lure there is 😂 that’s where the flyrod comes in handy
@@jkrofchick90 😂 I know what you mean, I've been wanting to break out my fly rod also!!
@@StompinDirt The river around me gets a lot of pressure and that fly rod can make a big difference. The only problem is I had to learn to tie my own flies cause of all the knees and low hanging branches I donate a lot of flies to the wirhlacoochee haha
I love panfish. I filled all of my fish though so I don't like to keep em that size and it's hard to find the real big ones in numbers. Luckily I know a farm pond or two that hold loads of fatties. Great video, lots of fun.
@derekjester7873 Thanks I appreciate it!
First vid, new sub! You fish left-handed, but eat right-handed.

And bear country also
They is a few running around!
When I fry whole fish I make slits on each side then season the whole fish with spices. I also roll my fish in mustard before shaking them in my fish fry. Try it you may just love it.

Man what size hook and how do you keep that worm 🪱 on the hook I always lose it even Berkeley minnows
I use a #8 Aberdeen hook most of the time when bream fishing or even a size 6 Mustad works as well!!
