Insane Wind on Higger Tor and a 600mm Landscape Shot

- I went to Higger Tor to meet up with Craig Yates and experienced finger freezing arctic wind as I tried to come up with the goods with a 600mm Monster Lens.

That’s a beast of a lens Eddie. Bet it’s a bit of a sod to lug around though! I’m like you these days and tend to spend more and more time in the woodland. Prefer the opportunities on offer to capture more unique images. Also much less likely to bump into anyone wearing shorts in December 😅
It’s SO heavy. I had to clear one side of my pack just to get it in there. Fortunately my Sling Bag has made a lot of room available. I’m guessing that the Wildlife Wankers just take one lens with them. I’ll try to arrange a collab with one of them, see if I can ruin their day like I do Craig’s.
Hi Eddie, Happy New Year. I have the Fuji 150-600mm and I love it. I also do a great deal of wildlife photography and it's great to have the reach with that lens at 600mm but on a cropped sensor it's the equivalent of 900mm and then I can use also use the 1.4x converter if needed making it over 1200mm. I also use it to capture Full and crescent moon images especially when the full moon is rising or setting. I assume you'll be owning one yourself very soon. Have you visited the nearby Big Moor? It's great for Red Deer especially during the Rut early Oct. That lens would be perfect for capturing that. I love the trees of Longshaw especially when misty. Regarding the same image that you and Craig took 🤔 I'll reserve judgement 😊

Another great morning apart from that drone grounding wind. Lot's of unexplored potential at Longshaw. It needs a granular study in 2024. What the hell is the Nikon D50? 🤣🤣

Oh no! That is incredibly sad. I had commented on one of his drone videos recently. If you could pass on my condolences to his family if you know them. I’ll make sure to mention him in my next Vlog.
Lads, life is what you make it, finding enjoyment where you can is what it’s about, sharing your experiences, getting out there to see what it’s all about and hopefully getting others like us to be wide eyed in wonderment at what we are a part of. I think Spike was filling his spare time with this thing that made him happy. Family, friends and where its possible, drones, and cameras and football matches, games of darts, fishing, walking, building little ships, laughing, a few beers, a nice meal, a few coins on a bet, a big spend on that car you’ve dreamed of, it’s the daft things that keep us happy to maintain our responsibilities to ourselves and others.
