      Joni Askola is so well informed! Right off the top of his head he remembers how the vote for independence went in eastern Ukraine and Crimea, which was was lower than 92%. Hungary's Orban is hungry and uses vetoes to get concessions. Joni knows the weapons systems. Smartest, best informed, pro-Ukrainian channel?

    Excellent podcast. As an American who also served in our armed forces I wanted to inform you on how important it is for you to consistently tell the American people that the Russians Don't think like us. Even though WW ll we the people never suffered like the rest of the world. So we in general think that they do and should be like us. I sure it's just an American thing but we can't understand people who don't. So in our minds the fact that the Russian people would support Putin along with suffering so much must be fake news !
    You and your guest nailed it. So please do speak of it often. The more we know of this will increase our support for Ukraine 🇺🇦

    Very good discussion, but it didn't surprise me. Asiallisia ja fiksuja miehiä olette Jonin kanssa kummatkin Artur. Kiitos. The only thing that Joni forgot to mention when talking about bomb shelters is that some of them are also resistant to a nuclear attack, for example there are a couple of these in the center of Helsinki, they are dug more than 20 meters into the bedrock, and they should withstand a direct hit from a nuclear weapon. weight with the word should, no one knows, but this is how the engineers calculated when they were built

    This should be like common knowledge for a Fin ~180k then you are close to the lake number and the Island number(I know the lakes are closer to 190k so dot fck away). Not speaking about the ground, in Ukraine its flatland soil and in Finland its stone like cliffs and it goes up&down really rough terrain plus that Finland has 75% forest coverage compared to Ukraine that has was it 16%. Cant even compare because what terrain Ukraine has it the terrain you should avoid at all cost...

    Ukraine running low on ammunition and things going badly should not be a reason for holding back aid to Ukraine and likewise things going well should not be a reason for holding back aid either. Ukraine deserves everything as soon as possible so that their Democracy and the Rule of Law can be defended both for their own countries and everyone else's sake against those that are determined to take it away. That is the only message that anyone needs to make along with the truth about what is going on be it good or bad in stark contrast to the enemies lies.

    I have also been to russia once. Also St. Petersburg. But I was a kid, so I have no deep impressions.
    But...I do think that the reason why you & many others "liked" the city is because it is basically just European city designed & built by Europeans...just on territory of russia (I am exaggerating a bit, but that's the case basically). It was built on the location of a former Swedish city/fortress (cause the area used to belong to Sweden before the city was established. It (the impressive palaces & old parts of the city) was designed by Italians. A lot of the pretty marble & granite that some of the famous buildings are made of/have in their interior are from Finland/(Finnish) Karelia. It was basically designed to be European looking....that was the whole idea behind the city (that it would look like some place in Europe, that it would look familiar/impress Europeans)

    What about stopping Putin's War against Ukraine in days with Putin losing all the gains he has made, not just from 2014 but from 1994?

    I have one answer to the birth rates. Epilleri and Kpilleri, like I would probably have 20 kids already without those pills. Like our women do take down their guard after a few so they forget the blue hair and "being an strong independent woman" instead of having a family(they kinda would be forced into that family life and after that the first one gets born they will notice that its a pretty good thing). I blame the pills and internet confusing em too much, thinking that you are strong if you don't have a man and a family... They do get dogs that sht in every park but I would rather see children playing in the parks than those dogs using it as a bathroom...

    • @amadeuz819
      @amadeuz819 3 місяці тому

      Then the EP do change the women, like it changes them a lot plus that they buy bad quality pants that just wont stay on when they eat the pill.. Fish are also suffering from the pills and it end up in the drinking water... I know the pill gave a freedom from responsibility but it does more damage than good so we should have removed it back when they figured out it affects the fish like when did it become more important to have sex without a condom than protect nature(Yes I do know that some do really need em to reduce the pain but that is only some of you not even close to the number that uses em today. Its not that hard to carry a condom on you). Like my migraine is probably because of me drinking the pee of the women in Tampere(its said that the people living in the capitol region drinks the piss of the people living there so).
      My point is that it does more harm than good and should be restricted to only those that really need em again.

    If Joni is so great about his assessment of Russian situation why nothing what he says come true? Wishful thinking is not reliable source of analytics. It's more propaganda then reality. According to Ukraine Russian lost 500 000 soldiers. Where is visible on the front if Russia opened more lines of combat and push forward. If Ukrainian loses are correct then Ukrainian army should have more soldiers, why then they are loosing land vilige by vilige? The Russian economy is in state of collapse for the last 2 years according to west yet it's GDP is that low that it's back in the top 10 economies in the world and at 4th place in GDP PPP. Despite reading countless of analytics about Russian army running out of shells, ammunition (Russian soldiers forced to fight with shovels according to BBC at the beginning of 2023), missiles, rockets, tanks and soldiers (and yet no mention about mobilisation even though all Ukrainian supporters keep saying Putin is waiting for election - that was 4 months ago and still nothing). Then there is all the hypes about western equipment- Leopards 2 will parade in the Red Square. I mean they are but I don't think in the way you have in mind 😂), then there was the best main battle tank in the world - half of them destroyed. Himars are jammed, ATACMS after huge numbers of attacks they start to dwindled, and now all hope is in F-16s with Ukraine limited air superiority or lack of it and mediocre air defence. Ain't time to look deeper in to reality and based the analytics on what is really going on taking in to account the worst case scenario rather than base it on wishful thinking and unreachable expectations? Asking for a friend

Russian GDP ? With numbers from russia , while they classify always more information about their production and spendings? Who are you going to fool but yourself with arguments like that on this channel ? Be serious for one minute. If you can.

    Greetings from Finland. Nice debate, thanks Rehi. One thing that is not much discussed is an other outcome to the war. An outcome that might put an end to the war sooner than anyone can imagine. Not by fighting but what might happen inside Russia. That is a total collapse of Russia as they run out of money and the Rubel will become worthless as a currancy (more than now). When people can’t afford to buy food and basics and when living costs will sky rocketing, an revolution is more and more likely scenario to happen. At that point also the country might divide into peaces. I think this is more likely to happen and this can happen within a year or maybe even months. For some reason all western experts are focusing on Ukraine and that a peace is only possible by winning or loosing the war at the front on Ukraine territory. Have they forgot that Russia might collapse inside?

    • @AstroGremlinAmerican

      Putin is not any different from other Muscovite rulers, they all acted the same because the Muscovite ideology dictates their moves. This particular war has been started by Yeltsin in 1992, when Muscovy tried to annex Crimea for the first time.

    We don't actually know how big, or rather small, the Russian minority in Finland is because, to my knowledge, we don't keep immigration records based on ethnicity. They are based on language and nationality.
    We have a minority that speaks Russian natively and was born in the Soviet Union but taking into account a) the repatriation policy of Karelians and Ingrians in the 1990s and 2000s, and b) forced assimilation of numerous native groups in Russia, it's likely that the so-called Russian minority that we have is at least partially of Finnic or Finno-Ugric heritage.
    Karelia was evacuated entirely during WWII twice so we're talking about Orthodox Karelians further east from the isthmus, Ingrians from St. Petersburg region, and further out, Veps, Maris, Erzyas, Moksha, and so on. Not sure about the movement of Samis of Kola Peninsula.
    The majority has integrated well. Whatever problems there are rarely make headlines.

    • @juutuuper
      @juutuuper 3 місяці тому

      In the year 2021, there was approx 30 000 Russian citizens in FIN and around 80 000 Russian speakers.

    • @henriikkak2091
      @henriikkak2091 2 місяці тому

      @@juutuuper Yes, but we don't know which percentage of those Russian speakers are 100%, 50%, 25%, or 12.5% of Ingrian heritage, for example.
      Ingrian Finns settled what is now known as St. Petersburg in the 1600s. The indigenous population of Neva River (it's a Finnish name) was Izhorian which was also a Finnic ethnic group. The latter have been almost completely assimilated by Russians and other Finnic groups.
      Not every Russian speaker is an ethnic Russian, you see. If every citizen of St. Petersburg took a DNA test, I bet many would be surprised. Most of them aren't familiar with their history beyond the 1700s or even Stalin.
