The 4 elements of guard:
-Infantry are an expendable resource, used to screen and contest objectives, and force your opponent to expose themselves.
-Artillery (and for other armies deep-strike,) hits what your opponent does not want you to, forcing them to expose themselves.
-Tanks remove the forces your opponent exposed.
-Officers make everything better.
I approve the Lord General Castor quote. It really is the ultimate reality of the Guard - it's not that commanders do not care about the lives of their soldiers, it's merely a result of the grim mathematics of war.
He called us his “little conscripts” 🥹🥹 time to die for the emperor
“It’s a Guardsman’s Job to die. My job is to tell him where to do it” shirt material right there
"No kobold life shall be wasted for nothing, they shall be sacrificed for somthing!"
_"If you won't let me have it, nobody can have it."_
- Lord Solar Macharius after yeeting a comet at Adantris Five.
I'm building a Krieg artillery list with mass infantry and a russ duo. This information will be put to use against the legions of Abaddon the spoiled.
I hv often heard games are win and lost by movement which i believe deployment can be somewhat included in that. If its warrented or worth it, i would like to see a video going over different movement and deployment strategies based on some standard terrain layouts and lists as its not something i see often talked about other than, its important.
Great guide for new and older players, especially as 10th is going to shake up which units are best for each role.
Your videos got me in 40k recently. Been watching for sometime, enjoyed the content but didn't actually plan on playing. Now here I am with tons of grey plastic bits.
well I did just buy 120 guardsmen on top of the 50 that I already had lying around. I thought that would be enough, till I realized that I needed some for filling up my heavy weapon teams' bases so now I'm looking for more...
where did you buy them from?
@@callummcneill6266 I just bought them all second hand, most of them old monopose cadians found on facebook marketplace or from the local gaming group. Since posting this I've painted up roughly 250+ infantry models, with another 130 or so to go. So yeah for that amount I'ld look secondhand
The Golden Rule for Playing Guard: Have Gold. They will cost you.
Great video ! Thanks a lot ! It's all the time so cool to hear you ! My english is not enough good to follow your live... But all the time, when you share a video with written support it's more easy for foreign fan 😊 Thanks a lot again ! And Hi from France 😊
how to acces to your Discord ?? 😅
I am new to 40k as a guard. Played my first 2 matches on Sunday and I lost the second game because I was too cautious with my infantry and not used them properly where they should have died. The moment MG said "the guard is meant to die" that hurt a little because I put the time to get them and paint them. Lol
The Emperor sees yours efforts, and is pleased.
Unfortunately the beloved unit's our Imperial guard troopers, whichever regiment, will die, do not avoid this fact, but make the enemy pay for each death.
You may lose two but if they take out two comparative troops or one superior enemy, that is a good trade.
Honestly, using your Infantry as tar pits for enemy melee units is a viable strategy. They don't have to punch hard, but if they keep the enemy away from your Officers and your big guns, they've done their job.
So like... I am terrible at 40k, I like my GSC and guard. lost about 14 of the past 15 games. I play my brother a lot and either he is that good or i'm that bad... but, the one smashing victory i've had recently was a hybrid guard list vs his space marines. (5 tanks, 90ish infantry, 3 squad morter pit and some officers).
Well you know what we said in the Army, "Artillery is the King of battle."
Thanks for the great content m8 👍
I traditionally run a more armored focus list so usually I’m running 6-8 tanks and 50-70 infantry squads. This edition though I feel it’s not as necessary to have so many because of reinforcements allowing you too bring back 20 man blobs as soon as they die.
So need this right now. Recently finished my third game as guard and boy am I struggling. Doing a bit better each time but haven't won yet.
Start of video, let’s see if MG mentions Pith helmets!
Yay another awesome MG video
1:49 space marines: oh no we lost one. What mistake did I make?😢
Guard: we’re losing soldiers. Good they’re doing their job. Send more.
3:41 first main game I played I lost everyone except command squad commander and 2 bombast guns. Lost everything else. I won in the end.
@@ScottTheBot07 VICTORY... is assured!
Guard golden rules , every single unit is expendable , they simply have levels of expendable status given to each unit and quickness of which they are expended.
Though this isn’t the same game it was editions back where I out numbered the enemy so much. Which makes heavy tanks needed these days.
Remember , we all die but make it hurt as much as possible for them as well. Glory to the guard.
In my units of guard should I be taking heavy weapons?
Great advice! Works for many imperil armies, but the guard do it best. ( except for marines the real real emperors chosen) . The only question remaining is are you a killing officer or a murdering officer?
Combined Arms.
looking at battle shock for tenth, i cant see infantry guard working well at all!. :(
Mordain glory what is the best infantry to run does it even mater I have loads of death corps of Krieg
good video!
1000 points tanks, 750 points infantry, 250 points indirect fire
I like bombards and mortars
How does the baneblade work with these rules? I just got my first and thinking how it will best support the infantry…
Just got one a little while ago. Taking it up to the left or right of the center as fast as possible, and just going for their "second line" has worked really well. Got it just cus, but now it would be hard to take out!
Yeah man that’s a good plan. I’m thinking of running a baneblade variant, a swarm of infantry, sentinels, supported by mortars. Idk we shall see how that works out 👍
Hi MG, not sure if i saw you analyze the new rule that was spoiled that if you get tabled you just instantly lose regardless of points now in 10th edition. Does this impact your approach to the game?
I plan on not getting tabled xD
10 shock troops in... 90 to go 😂
i used to play Dawn of War 1, skirmishing against hardest AI as Guards. at early game it's a struggle using Guardsman squads against heavily armored infantry like Chaos Space Marine.
Tau Fire Warriors can also obliterate these poor infantry at range. the problem with guards, they take casualties so much that the reinforcement cost will set back the tech upgrade and hinder the purchase of new units
I played as IG for years in mp. The best thing to do is tech to a baneblade quickly. I can't remember the order, but i used to get a baneblade out within about 7 ish mins. Requires a buddy to pick up the slack and use 3 squads of infantry smartly.
@@terranaxiomuk wow Baneblade in 7 minutes, that's fast!
@TheOis1984 There was an exact build order i figured out. Try it mate. Play against brain dead ai and practice teching for it. You need to keep 3 regular squads iirc. Been ages mate. It was imperative in competitive mp.
Played my first match on Saturday, i smashed a space marine player. He stood no chance against my Guard forces
Listened to you for years, thought you were a pissed, old, 40+ year old codger, Very surprised to see you in person. Your voice and candor do not match who you are.
Starship troopers
Luckily I have 80 cadian shock troops and 20 kasrkin in my current list.
Rule 1: have the bare minimum of infantry and max out on tracked vehicles
