As someone who has a stick drifting PS5 controller, and is now finally getting some hall effect stick replacements, yeah... That analysis is spot on ESPECIALLY for people like me who were hardcore LittleBIGPlanet players back on PS3, slap attacks basically required you to do this: 1:48:38 (Not only that, but to also to animate Sackboy's body and arms)
The time that I finally figured out that my controller had stick drift was while I was playing God of War to test my new laptop. It was the exact stick I used to slap away annoying players.

I've been installing these in the UK for several months now.
The new v5 ones are much thinner and easier to install.
This is the only real way to install hall effect sticks in a Playstation or Xbox controller. Without these driver boards you can't set the range or circularity.

I need to be careful how I answer since my message may get removed. You'll be able to find ready modded Dualsense controllers I have listed online if you visit a 'popular website' and search for Jun Zeng 😉
I'll also add an option for mail in repairs in the next few days.

@@fishbonemonkey I need to be careful with my wording to avoid being removed but If you search for Jun Zeng in places where people list services you'll find someone who can help you.
(Maybe even me if you're in the UK).

@fishbonemonkey It would be a whole lot more respectful to me, my channel, and my business if you just put in your comment, right at the beginning, that "you too are in the UK and would be interested in services."
I understand that mailing a PS5 controller to the US for service is a bit far out, but don't just ignore the fact that I run a business where I offer repair of these devices, local or mail-in.
Don't get me wrong here, I would love my channel to connect a technician with a customer "that I cannot service" but if you are in my service area and you're here soliciting another business. That's just wrong.

@miker13 Lots of people are always looking for a tech in the UK. You should add some links to your information, website, and ebay listings in your YT channel about. Then you don't have to worry about how you word replies or comments.

So some tips. Start using some flux. The cord of the solder is not enough. To clean use acetone and a tooth brush you will thank me later

That was almost a Louis level rant :-) Great work, but I was screaming at the screen to put the first mod board flat and solder through it though. :-)

The instructions in the video my customer referenced was to do it the first way. Never again, I will always solder the second way from now on.

Where are you located? And do you fix the fat ps3s that were backwards compatible?
When I had Sony repair mine years ago, they sent me back 2 different ones that stopped working right away. And now the 3rd replacement has been dead for years now. I have the yellow light of death.

Nevermind. I just found out I need something done called reballing. It's too much work compared to just doing a controller.

How much do you charge for this?? Hall effects are essential for fps games, that's what I mostly play

Setting ethernet (and other) connections to be "metered connection" worked for me to prevent unattended restarts.
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\DefaultMediaCost set every connection to dword 2. You mifgt need to fiddle with key access rights tho, by default registry key is owned by trusted installer.
There's also HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate\UX\Settings DeferUpgrade but I'm not sure if this has any real effect tho. I run script setting these values every time windows starts just in case they revert it.

use chipquick sticks (low melt solder) i do noot even use hotair only soldering station and joy fall off by himself (without desoldering pump). after i clean holes solder wick and solder new with normal tin 🙂

    • @nerdstrangler4804
      @nerdstrangler4804 5 місяців тому +1

Yea I normally use hot air on my xbox controllers, just because I have a hot air station so I figure no reason to waste my chip quik. But I have tested just using chip quik and a soldering iron because I know a lot of beginners probably don't want to have to buy a hot air station and wanted to see if it works. Was surprised how easy it was and that more people don't talk about it.

@@nerdstrangler4804 Have to remember that chipquick is more dangerous soldering wire it have a bismuth and after removing stik need to very good clean residues of old tin :D then put a new one. I read that it is not recommended to mix chipquick with another solder wire specially PBFREE :D

I couldn't help but notice that the video is mirrored (flipped left to right). It seemed odd to have a lefthand thread on that workholder. And then the amtech logo was flipped.

That's why it's important for everyone that is still young enough to learn, to start using free opensource Linux. More and more, computers are being designed to control people, rather than people controlling computers. And for people, that can,,, setup your own VPN. The VPNs that are available now, will be eventually blocked.

This PCB is still mandatory for Xbox controllers because it removes interference from the left trigger (magnetic) on the hall effects of the left stick. I'm going to try to install Xbox elite 2 hall effects sticks on my controller to see if these PCBs also neutralize the possible interference from the magnetically interchangeable sticks.

I use old hotel key cards for screen openers

They are a little thicker then what I want. I've been reusing hotel keys for their RFID. Most of them you can reprogram to whatever you want. In my shop the "please leave a review" sign has a QR code and behind the paper I taped an old hotel key that will send out the URL via NFC when tapped.

lol that guy is talking nonsense i did fixed 2 controllers 2 days ago from my cousins ps5 they both had drift i only did that by solder and solder wick nothing else fun fact i just soldered directly the hall effect ones the avg error is around 10% to 12% i think its acceptable no ? where do i get those boards he put under the joys and why when i bought the joys they didn't give them together ? just doesn't make sense to sell you hall effects without boards ...

    • @A2000MHz

I think you are confused. I don't upload other peoples videos, this is my video you are commenting on here. About the control board for the thumbstick, there are a few kind of thumbsticks available. These have hall sensors that do not produce the same electrical signal as the original variable resistor. The daughter board is required to translate the signal to what the controller is expecting. Some other thumbsticks do not need the daughter board. If you have center point errors, when not touching the stick, you can buy adjustment boards with variable resistors to adjust the center point.
I make these videos to teach people the proper techniques of soldering and troubleshooting. I very rarely "talk nonsense" in my videos, so if you think that's all this is, is nonsense, I invite you to look up and learn the meaning of the Dunning-Kruger effect.
