Thanks for this video. I have been a widow for 3 years, my sweet hubby Mr. Fix-it could not help me this time, so I followed your instructions and voila! dishwasher is working again!
Your quick video helped me disassemble my dishwasher and clean it out. Neither Frigidaire nor their repair service people would provide me with this instruction. Let's hope that solves the problem of failure to drain all the water at the end of the cycle. Tampa Bay Area Florida
OMG!!!! THANK YOU! Dishes had been coming out dirty for weeks, and I was JUST about to blame the city water supply, and then wondered if maybe I was supposed to clean the dishwasher. Once in a WHILE. This was INCREDIBLY easy and I would NEVER have had any idea about this if not for your instruction! And that filter was CLOGGED...!!! Thank you!
Just so everyone else knows, my tab was very hard to pull out. I took something to gently pry it and pull at the same time, being careful not to break anything. There is a little hook in my model on the fitting that keeps the basket in. When I finally got it out I found there was a boat load of mineral build up and I think it made it much harder for me to get the basket out. Once I go it out I scrubbed up the build up with a toothbrush in the dishwasher and let it soak with white vinegar and water solution to help break up the rest of the mineral build up.
Thank you for this video. I am almost ashamed to see how easy it is to take out the filter. I pulled on the spray arm but when it gave me some resistance I was afraid to pull it any harder from fear that i would break it.
Thank you so much for this video! We have a newer model but these instructions worked perfectly and allowed me to clean some truly horrifying gunk out of my dishwasher. Days like today I'm really grateful that a) the internet exists and b) helpful people are willing to post all sorts of advice on it.
Thanks Steve, I was able to clean the filter in my dishwasher. My Frigidaire has plugged up on me and I called the repair guy but I could have done this myself and didn't realize it. I'm rinsing my dishes at the moment hoping the water drains out this time. I suspect it was the filter being clogged. This will save me a lot of time and waiting for repairs. Good Stuff!
Thank you so much for your helpful video. It was easier then I thought. We just moved into a new home and all of our appliances are brand new but I read somewhere that it's important to keep the drain cleaned out. I wasn't sure how so I binged it and your video was the first one up so I watched it and I can't believe how easy it is. So thank you again for your helpful video!
I had no idea we're supposed to clean the filter. I had no pooling water, there was no offensive odor, and the dishes were clean coming out of the dishwasher but i thought I should try this cuz i never cleaned it in 12 years i've been in this house. I literally gasped at what i saw!!! thank you for these clear straightforward instructions.
This just saved me! Thank you. I live in a very neglected apartment with a slumlord. I’ve had a grey water smell making it unbearable and probably unsafe to wash my dishes. This was so easy and wow was it disgusting in their!! Worked on my old used Frigidaire in this apartment. Scoured all the parts in baking soda, vinegar and Dawn and scrubbed the inside. Now there’s ZERO SMELL!!!!
Thanks, worked perfectly on my new washer. 30 seconds tops! Been bugging me for 4 months. No idea how it came loose, must have been that way from the start. Thanks again, Jim
This was great! We just moved into a new home, and the dishwasher left our dishes with grime on them. This was the problem. It was totally clogged. Such an easy fix. Thank you!
I rent and decided to clean my dishwasher myself snd save my landlords a trip downstairs. Your directions worked like a charm until I tried to put everything back. I was nervous as there was water leakage after a cycle and the components came loose. But I watched in detail again and everything looks good. I wonder if that was the reason for the leak? Thanks for your help!
Wow! Can't thank you enough! My dishwasher sat unused for about 4 months and requires major cleaning under the filters and screens. I didn't know how to get under there, now I do. :)
I agree with the lady before me from a year ago. It never occurred to me to take a dishwasher apart. I am also a widow. I now have to do the tasks that my sweet carpenter husband did around the house.now I know why my dishes weren’t coming out clean. I will keep up with it from now on and thank you very much your video was most informative.
Thanks! I came home from work & my wife said “something’s wrong with the dishwasher. The arm thing came off”. 90 degree turn of sprayer arm shaft was needed. Lifesaver video, thanks
Nicely done - thank you! One added comment: we found the mesh screen clogged with lime buildup so we carefully squirted some lime remover solution all around the mesh, rubbed around a bit with tip of sponge, and rinsed. All clear now.
I just bought a foreclosed condo and found buildup in the washer. This video was very helpful in cleaning...but how do u get the "water" that remains? I have 2 inches off nasty water..is it still safe to use it or should it be trashed?"
Ah! 90 degree turn to the right! Thank you!!! But wow, there was a lot of random garbage down there. But I found the screw my girl dropped in there so it was worth it :-) You rock. Crystal clear instructions, short, sweet.
This was truly helpful. Exactly what I needed. It's shameful that I didn't know this filter came out until (xx) years later. Shameful. Well... all good now. Bless you!
I just moved into a new place and I haven't had a DW in forever. This thing has never been cleaned out and I was so worried I'd have to call my new LL. thank you!
This was quit helpful thank you. I did not grow up with dishwasher in our homes. We bought a home 9 yrs ago eith dishwasher but we dont use it daily. Just random..didnt even know it had filter until recentky and couldnt figure out how to get it out to clean. This did the trick. And luckiy it wasnt bad clesn job the built up was minimal 😊👍🏼
Good video thank you. five minute job.Not many have common sense to clean filter out and hit reset button on a garbage disposal to unclog both. Takes 2 minutes remove filter another 2 minutes get all the dirt gunk from the filter and parts run under water to clean it. One minute hit reset button on garbage disposal when it's turning on and dirty water goes back up into the sink.
Thanks, i took my dishwasher apart to clean it and couldnt figure out which piece went first. Also, you didn't mention the sprayer up top, but i did figure that one out! Thanks , its been apart about 3 months!!!
Thanks for this. We have a very old one - an Ultra Quiet 1. I think the Ultra Quiet 3 is already considered old, but sure enough, our ancient one also has a similar filter setup. Absolutely disgusting underneath - and what is worse is that underneath the big circle filter was gross too.
Hey Steve, one thing you did not show was what position the glass screen went upon reassembly, with the little spout on the bottom going in at the 12 oclock position sticking down in the pump assembly.
Thank you for this video. I was digusted to see what has been in the bottom of my dishwasher. YUCK!!!!!! I knew all those pieces should be able to come out; I just wasn't sure how to get them out. Thanks again!
I don't know whether to thank you or curse you. I'll thank you for the information and the tips but curse you for what I actually found while cleaning our million year old dish washer.....I can not believe we were washing our dishes in that flotsam and jetsam!!! Seriously, thank you.
This is my dishwasher. After the load completes, the top of the dishwasher is always covered with water droplets at the top and after a few days I get mold everywhere. The dishes don't seem get as dry as they should. I've opened it up during the dry cycle and I can feel the element does get hot to the touch. Any idea what the problem is?
Thank you so much.. I noticed all the crud in the filter when my washer wasn't working properly... proceeded to pull it apart, clean everything and couldn't put it back together, until finding your video :o)
I had a lot of calcium build up so it took a bit a force to get it out (after ten years). I was astonished at how bad the filter was clogged. Soaked parts in CLR, lightly scraped parts, washed in vinegar, and presto. Also ran short cycle with CLR afterwards.
I got everything off fine and cleaned my filter. But for the life of me I cannot get the part back on that you turned to the right one quarter turn to get off and now needs to be turned one quarter to the left to get back on (its what the washer arm fits into). When you put it back on, it snapped right in place. But, not for me. Any advice?
Mine was so built up with hard water mineral deposits, just gross! This helped me with getting it apart the filter (never knew, thank God I know now lol), thank you for the video!
Why doesn’t the manual show you how to do this? Thank you so much… the filter parts were stuck together with sludge but this helped me figure it out. Hate to think how dirty all my “ clean” dishes were.🤢
Thanks Steve for this very easy video on how to clean my dishwasher filter. Yuck! Hope this fixed my problem for my standing water. If not at least I know my filter is now clean and know how to do it in the future. Thanks again!
Ty, ty, ty...i think you may have saved me buying a new dishwasher for a bit. I just did the above, loaded it and started it. It even sounds better. Ill let you know.
This worked great while I was taking OUT the filter and parts.....however, it now won't LOCK BACK IN place and I've watched the video so many times to make sure I was doing it just right....turn counter clock wise a quarter turn etc.
Thanks for this video. I have been a widow for 3 years, my sweet hubby Mr. Fix-it could not help me this time, so I followed your instructions and voila! dishwasher is working again!
Sorry for your loss, glad you were able to fix it
Widow for 18 months, same af

That was a great video. Concise and accurate. It shows you carefully thought through your presentation and executed it perfectly. Well done, Steve!

This is very well demonstrated. I had been watching another video and wasn’t getting anywhere. With this video I had it completely done it 10 mins! 👍👍
This just saved me! Thank you. I live in a very neglected apartment with a slumlord. I’ve had a grey water smell making it unbearable and probably unsafe to wash my dishes. I have an older frigidaire dishwasher and this is exactly what I needed to disassemble the filter and clean it out. Thank you!
Thanks, worked perfectly on my new washer. 30 seconds tops! Been bugging me for 4 months. No idea how it came loose, must have been that way from the start.
Thanks again,

excellent video on how to take it apart, but if there is water built up and it still isn't draining what can I do to clear it
Wow! Can't thank you enough! My dishwasher sat unused for about 4 months and requires major cleaning under the filters and screens. I didn't know how to get under there, now I do. :)

Thanks!! Diishwasher started NOT cleaning. After viewing a few websites I found your video and followed your instructions. Dishes sparkle again!
Many thanks. Most helpful in assuring me I wasn't going to break my dishwasher when pulling the parts out to clean.
I have never been a Mr Fixit type of guy. But this video helped me tremendously. Thanks for sharing and your help.
Thanks! I came home from work & my wife said “something’s wrong with the dishwasher. The arm thing came off”. 90 degree turn of sprayer arm shaft was needed. Lifesaver video, thanks
Thank you! I was losing it. Let’s say I thought that other knob on the left was the drain and I pulled that out. Did I kill the dishwasher?
Thanks Steve, you made that just a piece of cake for me!!! My husband doesn't do this type of work around the house, so I am thankful for your uTube!!
This was exactly what I needed. I knew the filter was dirty but the owners manual was no help in figuring out how to clean it. Thank you!
Thank you very much! I never cleaned the bottom of my dishwasher; your video is very easy to follow.
Nicely done - thank you! One added comment: we found the mesh screen clogged with lime buildup so we carefully squirted some lime remover solution all around the mesh, rubbed around a bit with tip of sponge, and rinsed. All clear now.
This was simple, brief, excellent! Thanks.
Thanks so much. I just cleaned mine following your instructions and am presently doing a test run.

Super helpful!! I was trying and couldn't figure out how to remove the fitting on my own.Thank you!
Thank You. Had no clue how to do this. Cleaned it with no problems after watching.
This was truly helpful. Exactly what I needed. It's shameful that I didn't know this filter came out until (xx) years later. Shameful. Well... all good now. Bless you!

'Gave me the courage to tug harder on the parts!
Right!
Thanks for this info, dishwasher was making a screaming noise. Found filter very clogged and cleaned it out. Now it is as quiet as new,

any advice for removing filter? mine will not pop off no matter how hard i try - too afraid to break it to tug any harder...
@@fruitsbasketmangalov Oh sorry, I have moved since I made that post over 4 years ago, I do not recall
Energyone no worries, found out it was some glass stopping the filter from being turned. Thanks!
@@fruitsbasketmangalov sure thing
THANK YOU! Helped me to put it back together! Thought I broke it - but just needed to figure out how to put it all back!
Great video, thanks. The vent filter looks scummy too. Do you know how to get to that item or know if it needs to be cleaned?
Hey Steve, one thing you did not show was what position the glass screen went upon reassembly, with the little spout on the bottom going in at the 12 oclock position sticking down in the pump assembly.
Super helpful and straightforward. Thanks!
Thanks a lot. Just cleaned it and hoped I put it back together right. Your video confirmed my guesses.
Thanks
Worked like a charm. 30 seconds, my filter screen was spinning around.
Jim
Thank you so much - it was exactly what I needed and you saved me the cost of a repair man - which we just can't afford right now - Bless you!
Steve thanks for the 101 on DW drain cleaning. I followed your instructions and I'm still getting a gritty feeling on my dishes. Any advise?
Wow! Thank you so much for posting this video. My filter is now clean. Now I have cleaned dishes 😊😊😊😊
Thanks! This has been driving me crazy. Who would have thought it was so easy?
Wow! I was dreading this job for the longest time. That was easy. thanks from the States!
Awesome vid, my man. I'm ashamed to say how badly this needed to be done. It was beyond foul
Thank you for this video. I was digusted to see what has been in the bottom of my dishwasher. YUCK!!!!!! I knew all those pieces should be able to come out; I just wasn't sure how to get them out. Thanks again!

+Gentleman Adventurer that's EXACTLY what I thought!! I was so grossed out!
Excellent video. Straight to the point.

I was always intimidated by the bottom of my dishwasher until I watched this video! Thank you for showing me how easy this is to clean!
Thank you so much.. I noticed all the crud in the filter when my washer wasn't working properly... proceeded to pull it apart, clean everything and couldn't put it back together, until finding your video :o)
Thank you for this!! Appreciated the explanation and description that you shared. TM
I had a lot of calcium build up so it took a bit a force to get it out (after ten years). I was astonished at how bad the filter was clogged. Soaked parts in CLR, lightly scraped parts, washed in vinegar, and presto. Also ran short cycle with CLR afterwards.
just did this earlier today; made a world of difference; thanks for sharing the video!
Do you have to turn off the power in the house to do this safely?
So when I started, there was no water in the bottom of the dishwasher, now it's full! How did that happen?
So glad I found this video. This was a big help. Thank You!
Thank you Thank you!! I had no idea how to get the lower sprayer out I was afraid of breaking it!
Any advice?
Paul Pollard I'm having the same problem. did you ever find a solution? thanks
Same problem....did you find a remedy
I am having the same problem. Did you find a remedy?
You need to rotate that part until it drops down, then turn it until it locks in place. There are two tabs inside that need to align.
Thanks for the video! Short and to the point.
Mine was so built up with hard water mineral deposits, just gross! This helped me with getting it apart the filter (never knew, thank God I know now lol), thank you for the video!
Great info. I'd done this before, but forgot how to do it. Now, to find out how to clean my washing machine filter! lol
Why doesn’t the manual show you how to do this? Thank you so much… the filter parts were stuck together with sludge but this helped me figure it out. Hate to think how dirty all my “ clean” dishes were.🤢
There's water in it, can I run a cycle without everything in it to see if the water drains?
This saved me from many a headache. Thank you!
Thanks so much! Saved me a costly repair!
The tab won't pul up so I can't take the filter trap out -- are some models made not to pull out? Thanks.
Thank you so much for making this video. You are a lifesaver!
This is a great video and its straight to the point. It was exactly what i needed.
Very helpful and simple. Thank you!
Thanks Steve for this very easy video on how to clean my dishwasher filter. Yuck! Hope this fixed my problem for my standing water. If not at least I know my filter is now clean and know how to do it in the future. Thanks again!
This was just what I needed. YUCK. Can't wait to see the sparkly dishes come out. Thank you!
This video just saved my life. Thanks so much.
Do i have to shut off the breaker first to kill the power?
You video was great. Super helpful.
OK mine still has water at the bottom what can I do about that I did the part you did in the video but it mine still has water at the bottom ????
I know it’s been 6 years since your comment… but I am currently in this situation! 😅 Do you remember what you did? Any advice??
Thank you for this great video! I managed to get mine apart; then, couldn't figure out how to get it back together. :-}
Thank you for posting this video, it really helped.
Very clear and a great job!
Thanks for posting! This really helped guide me through it.
that was awesome, prevented a fight with my hubby because I fixed it myself.
Hello, thank you very much for this video, I tried to take off the tab, but unfortunately, it wasn't able to, can u please tell me what to do, Thanks
Sometimes you have to turn it a quarter turn or so before it pops out.
Thanks for this video. It's easy if you know how.
How do you changer the filter on left top of inside of dishwasher
my dishwasher and i thank you :)
Ty, ty, ty...i think you may have saved me buying a new dishwasher for a bit. I just did the above, loaded it and started it. It even sounds better. Ill let you know.
Thankyou! Your video was so helpful:)

What is that thing in the front left corner do? The round white thing ???
