TOP 10 CHEAP EATS UNDER $10 in SYDNEY | Sydney Must Try Food Guide 2019
what's your favourite go-to cheap food where you're from? how much is it?
Janice Fung hunter connection chicken roll
How much is that ?
Fish burger from Out of the Blue! Check it out some time
You should go to Indonesia especialy jakarta someday, and also we have Marugame Udon 😁 similar name right. And many more delicious food under AUD 5. 😂😂
@@ashleylay3889 okieee
Omg the lady in the back at the fish ball place hahahah
Hahaha she was so excited about me filming at her place lol
feed meimei - food and travel videos That was amazing! 🤣🤣
I don’t understand why didn’t u come to Cabramatta we have pork rolls around $3-4 and they are the best
I’m gonna come to Cabramatta and redeem myself
Vivienne M 飞船牛肉粉
🙏🏼 I can vouch for this, and you can grab a drink for like $1 with your purchase
What would be the point? Tourists aren't gonna go out there. For Sydney locals driving all the way out there would make it not cheap at all. And if you live near there then you already know about those places, so....
@@anxoinacio9722 I don't live near Cabramatta and I'm always happy to make the trek out there.
Omg yay!! I've had cheap eats in SF on my video idea list for awhile so it's cool to see a Sydney one!!
Can’t wait!!!!
Thank you for your recommendation! The pie with mashed&pea looks amazing

one whole chicken from woolies at $9.99, with stuffing.
what a steal
I don't even live in Sydney but I loved watching your video, Janice!
I'll keep those in mind if I ever visit ;)
Charline!!! i would love for you to visit!!
Thanks for this video. It is definitely a good food guide in Sydney.
Thank you! Great! There is so much variety, ethnically and flavor-wise, in this list, and not just dollar menu items from Subway, McD's and other common fast food chains. In future lists, it would be interesting to see a map with bullseyes to see how close in proximity each location is to each other.
Thanks Wendel , such a good idea with the map 👌🏻
Thankyou for the video, this is really going to help when I go to sydney! :D
Glad it helped !
Love your work
Thanks will help me out for my couple of days in Sydney 👍🏼

Hi Janice,
This guide was so helpful when I visited Sydney a month ago. In fact, I think I saw you ride the train at Wynyard.
Hey I’m glad it helped! ☺️
Awesome video!!!
New Yorker here whose obsessed with Oz!! Can’t wait to visit these spots when I’m in Sydney!
Thanks so much!
Omg!! I’m absolutely obsessed with nyc! Be there once and have always been meaning to go back
As a Sydneysider this is on point !
I'm surprised you didn't get udon at Marukame! That rice bowl looked good to thoooo
Lol ikr. It’s cuz I couldn’t get a large udon with beef under 10 bucks 🤣
doesn't matter... they've closed shop already
Ahh we went to Marukame Udon in Hawaii - loved it! Really cheap and great quality
yeah totally agree
I'd fly to Sydney just for a marrickville pork roll!!! Great video, definitely try out your recommendations next time I'm in Sydney!!
It’s amazing ! Glad you liked the vid Johan!
Marrickville pork roll is SO GOOD! Highly recommend!
🙌🏻🙌🏻
Yes, you included the iconic Tiger Pie! It's so good. All great items, Janice. I miss Sydney.
Great you highlighted Mappen. Their Udon was always a good deal. Is Mamak still doing roti canai under $10? That would be be my pick.
Yeah pretty mamak still is!
YASSS!!! Love anything edible and delicious under $10.
We're also in the middle of making meal under $10 in Melbourne video, so good to see you also do this 😍
That Mappen Noodle House!! OMG that restaurant is the reason why we visited back Sydney 2 times after our first time trying Mappen, especially the udon topped with mentaiko. Delicious!!
The same shop opened in Melbourne a few years back, but it's for ramen, called Mappen Ramen Bar. Too bad they now closed down 😪
Yumm... Bourke Street bakery, love their Ginger Brûlée Tart 😍
We also have Pappa Rich in Melbourne and agreed their roti canai curry is the best and cheap too.
Love this type of video Janice, keep it up 👍
Thanks guys!! I’m glad you like Mappen too, I love that place.
Can’t wait for your Melbourne version!!
Also- yes, ginger brulee tart from Bourke street bakery is sooo goooood
Yeah Sydney! ❤️
I work in a bakery shop in Edgecliff, our sausage rolls are only $2.8 and ppl actly love them
New viewer. Really great video
Cheers paul!
I’m in Melbourne, never been to Sydney but I would love to. You have a new subscriber I love food and travel videos
thank you so much for watching! I love Melbourne !
What about the 5 star kebab shop in Auburn, they have huge ass wraps for 6-7 bucks
There is a small hidden Korean place in an alleyway off George St near Bathurst St that has lunch special of a selection of dishes for $9.90 plus unlimited of sides (kimchi,Seaweed, mash potato etc). I think the restaurant was called Drunken Rice. Used to go there multiple times a week for lunch when I worked there!
Love This video! I know it’s a couple of years on so thought I’d let you know some price changes as I happened to go around the city today: Burke Street: sadly the price of the sausage roll has gone up from $5.50 to an eye-watering $7. Guess they’re trying to make up for the loss of Covid foot-traffic over the past 2 years. Harry De Wheels: I bought a Tiger Pie today and that’s gone up to $9.60 (ouch!!!). Sydney’s getting more expensive!
left out cabra, ashfield, strathfield, granville, fairfield, flemmington, alot more in chinatown
The veggie tiger pie is my favourite!
Great video!
Thank you ! ☺️
Yomie’s rice and yogurt drink in Paddy Haymarket
the tiger pie looks interesting! wish i was in Sydney to try it out (based in NZ)..oh well something to try out on my next Sydney trip.
i love it for the gravy! and then when it soaks into the peas and the mash... man so good.
Janice Fung oh good to know! The another thing on my mind was if the gravy made the pie crust a bit soggy...but you’ve answered that as well. Thanks :)
Just got back from vacation in Sydney and wish I had watched your video before going. Although living in a city like San Francisco makes Sydney look like a bargain at times (not always, ok?!), I would have enjoyed hunting down all these places you mentioned. But I'm going back so I'll make sure to trace your steps!
Totally want to try Frankie's pizza - looks like it has a lot of character
Bourke Street Bakery Sausage Rolls are the best!
The vietnamese bamh mi looks so good!!!!!!!! Ahhh
I really need to try some of these placeeees
Definitely go check them out!!
Janice, you're a superstar. You heard it first from me.
Haha as New Yorkers, it’s always worth getting something better than $1 slices. That looked like a good one - remember seeing Frankie’s in Nick & Helmi’s video
haha the $1 slice is so iconic though. yes - it tasted pretty good and was pretty big for how much it is
You're killing it girl,I just commented on one of your other videos after just finding you and I'd suggest you'd be an awesome tourist ambassador for Sydney. What's the international feedback you get from your videos
If you are in the area, try Noodle Star in
Neutral Bay near the Oaks pub, it’s fantastic. Soya chicken won ton noodle soup for about $11.
Done. Thanks for the rec!
Norths sandwich shop on Bridge street - yuuuuuuuum
The Cole's chook for 8 bucks 50 was your best tip.
WOW it's amazing video 👍 👍 lot of foods
i love it, thanks for sharing, I like your channel 👍 👍👍 👍 have a great day
Yay Tiger pie!
Saladworks in World Square is nice. U can have a try
Oh. Interesting, didn’t know you spoke Canto.
I think I am love with the beef udon!!!!
Pizza
Beef udon
Veggie laksa!! Top 3!! Woot!
the laksa is on the top of my list too. chicken laksa is my absolute favourite
Try Happy chef at market city for Laksa if you haven’t already. Best Laksa in Sydney.
Try beer house at Barangaroo. $5 half litre beer with unlimited snacks, also, 10 cents chicken wings
What is the current price of dry abalone and cooked star fish and mud crab? We also like fish moa and other authentic Cantonese food. Any recommendations?
Yeh mappen noodle is my fav 😎⚡️🍆 ! I smashed that spring onion and tempura flakes to the max haha
yess we think the same. those tempura flakes are the best udon toppings ever!
also what's with your emojis? hahaha
Janice Fung haha i dunno 🤣, i just saw that on my recently used hahah 🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭
🤣🤣
Nick and Helmi Recognized Frankie’s from your video! Fun fact: that was the name of my childhood pizzeria!
Holy shyt u came to chatty and lane cove?!?!? Yasss
Just saw your buffet review and me thinks its worth trying for a lunch. However, more likely to do the budget thing. It would be nice to see review of lunchtime deals in Sydney as heaps of Thai,Chinese etc go for less than $10. For budget buffet Merrylands RSL is under $20 and reasonable quality & amused by their Gold prize for their rest rooms although the Bankstown Sports Club is worth visiting I'm going back to EQ market day as the gnocchi in cheese wheel got me curious will see if price justified, thanks for review, cheers
Sydney is so cool 😎
Hey thank you
Instantly thought of Mappen when I saw the title - glad to see it made the cut! But c'mon where is el Jannah?
Lol I did briefly mention it! They have the best garlic sauce man 😍
Cheap food AND it looks/taste amazing?
Win-win
Dixon house food court is amazing they even sell beers
Sadly Dixon St food court is on it's last legs. Only five stalls remain.
Always used to go to dixon house in chinatown alot.
I love your voice!
Could you please make an updated video ? Thank you!
You can get a pork roll in cabramatta for 4 dollars on john street
Lane cove chargrill charlie, their devil fried wings are to die for, and maccas chips are best chips
i know right! i used to love chargrill charlie's pumpkins as well. they were just so much sweeter than i could ever make it.
Girl, you need to add Nua Lao thai on this list. I’m probably slightly biased but you get two curries and rice for $10 all day everyday
Hot Star Chicken on liverpool st, amazing taiwainese fried chicken, bigger than your head! It's only $9.50 :)
YES! LOVE hot star chicken! i tried their fried mushrooms the other day and they were surprisingly tasty
Can somebody send in a list of cheap eats in The Rocks where the business section is? Thanks!
I used to always get an Indian kebab for like $7 in Oxford street when I was studying at the art and design school
Saimin in Hawaii is my favorite low cost noodle soup. However, I wish we had laksa here.
Oh wow I’ve Never had saimin before!
My favorite cheap eat is Nasi uduk. If you ever heard about that, it's coconut rice companion with a lil bit of fried noodle, a lil with fried tempe, fried onion shallot, crekers and sambal(chili)...it just 5000 rupiah, equal Aud is 50cent. 😗😗
Thanks for sharing.!!
no way that sounds amazing! i've never had it before but definitely wana try
One day I will visit Sydney. Over my life I have been lucky enough to travel. I have never met anyone who disliked Australia and I've always wanted to visit. I appreciate that Australia is expensive. It's "European prices in Asia!" One day, one day!
Fish Ball Photo Bomber..LOL
Haha she was so excited to see me film at her shop !
Cheap go to here in Japan would be any of the gyudon places (Sukiya, Matsuya or Yoshinoya). They're under ¥400 for a medium bowl of beef rice.
No way! 400 yen is like 4 bucks Aussie hey 😍
You left out Cabramatta! They have the true best cheap eats. :)
too far
Epic pizza crown st has like $6 New York style slices of pizza
Love wine with Aussie accents
The food court next to wollies town hall, you need to go down the stairs...they have good thai and hainanese chicken rice and their portion is huge! they're my most go to place for lunch. :)
Ahh yes I think I know which one- it’s the one in the galleries righjt??
@@JaniceFung yes near galleries, is on 303 pitt st, you can go via wollies too.
Sayong Curry Laksa at this food court serves a mean array of Malaysian dishes. $9.50 for Hainanese Chicken Rice and Laksa starting from $8.50. Definitely one of my faves in CBD.
@@guardianlion8914 hainanese chicken rice & laksa are two of my favourite comfort foods. i'll definitely have to check the place out, thank you!
@@JaniceFung and they're the only stall in the food court that opens on Saturdays. :)
Mehfil Indian Restaurant in Roseville, California, has an amazing all-you-can-eat buffet of meat & vegetarian curries, breads and desserts for US$9.99!
Oh gosh that’s amazing!
What can you eat makes me hungry it's midnight here in Alaska.
If you like El Jannah, check out frango in Bella Vista. Cheap as chips! Literally
will do, thanks for the rec!
oh man everything looks great, would love to try it the next time I'm in Sydney. But $10 AUD is enough to eat a lot of different things in HK.
nice, that's around $55 HKD i think? what would be your top 3 things to eat :P
@@JaniceFung roast goose noodles, a tempura don located in MK, char siu rice
Roast goose noodles 😍
