I'm from Basra, Iraq and watching this breaks my heart. My family opposed Saddam's regime, but never wanted a foreign invader to come and cause further destruction to our country, civilization and people. Change can only be achieved internally by the demand of the people, not by some warmongers who want to exploit the natural resources of our country. In 2008, my pregnant sister, brother in law, my mother and father took a taxi to a nearby hospital because my sister was going into labor. As a result, the US soldiers drove over the taxi with their tanks killing my parents, sister, unborn child, brother in law and the taxi driver. Of course no justice was ever served and when I tried to sue them, I was arrested and taken to Baghdad for investigation. They said that I was at a high risk of joining terrorist groups and conducting attacks against their military, when in fact, I was only trying to seek justice for my family. After severe beatings, waterboarding, forcing me to strip and exposed me to cold air-conditioned room with loud American songs, which kept me up for a week without sleep, taking naked photographs of me, I was forced to drop the case. Of course I regret dropping the case, but I was only 24 at the time and I couldn't handle any more torture. When I was released I was diagnosed with interscapular hip fracture and basically that means my leg was broken and the blood supply was compromised. I had to sell my parents house in order to fund the multiple surgeries I had to receive and until this day I have chronic pain and limb asymmetry. This is just one story from one Iraqi who had to endure pain and suffering. I know that it's a very personal story but I want the world to know about the crimes Americans and their allies committed against humanity for the sake of oil exploitation and the type of suffering and pain Iraqis had to endure for crimes they didn't commit.
