As an ethnic Chinese myself, it's a fallacy the ex-minister committed when he says it's free. Nothing is free unless it's clearly stated as donation, as China has highlighted this when they actually meant it as donation and nothing else. It's kinda of a "barter" trade which was mutually agreeable between China and the interested country. IN the case of Africa, usually the payment will be in terms of the abundance of mineral and natural resources that countries in Africa has. A so-called "win-win" situation that was agreed and not one-sided or forced upon. The difference is US and the West had marched in and took lands by force, whereas China enticed with economic and social benefits and its up to the country whether they want to accept the offer or not. While I'm not a fan of China nor the US (or the West for that matter), at least in the decades that European nations and US had occupied Africa and the Middle East, I have not seen any real infrastructure or improvements in the quality of life in the average citizens there. As controversial as China seems to be (whether real or fabricated), at least I see some tangible happenings that the eyes could actually witness. My last sentence says so much about the West and US esp, they had the chance to do good for the poor and average people there while occupying it but squandered it. Look at what wreckage the US has left recently esp in Afghanistan, not to mention Iraq and some other places.

It's not "free" by any means. Africans must continue to put in hard work and make use of this mega infrastructure advancement by the Chinese. That is the "price" they must pay to enhance their own lives and societies to make themselves prosperous. Otherwise, the "price" Africans will pay is the downfall of their own failure. The Chinese is laying out the foundations for themselves, no doubt about that. But at the same time it gives others a chance to advance with them, as long as they are willing to work for it, and ultimately the world will be a better place for all.
China doesn’t give out infrastructure for “free”, the Chinese aren’t known for their charity. They provide cheap loans that the receiving country can pay back with resources China needs. Also, China wants people in the Global South to get richer. They are growing a middle class in these countries so they can afford more Chinese manufactured products. The Chinese are actually investing in their own futures by growing overseas markets for their goods. It’s called “win-win cooperation” where both parties mutually benefit.

As a Chinese, I agree that this non intervention is more like a national character. Many people believe in a saying that even the most competent officer are not able to make a judgement over a household issue. Recently, Vice President Harris addressed at an African summit warning the African Countries about doing trades with Chinese. An African leader responded and pointed out that: the new modern AI Airport complex she arrived at; the modern Super Freeway she travelled on; the ultra modern Building she is in where the Summit is being held with modern Security Network - were all built by China on very cost effective and generous terms, for which African Countries could never get the needed finance for from USA that is controlled by the IMF and World Bank. All the delegates at the Summit meeting burst into laughter!
USA has only put the African Countries into debt for the past 100 years, a debt that they can never pay off under the pro USA conditions.

I am happy to see it too. We Chinese have seen the worst of oppressions, sufferings that are not known in the west because it doesn’t fit the western narrative. But because of this history of suffering we have a strong sense of justice and equality for all people. China does not wish to become the next USA. China wants the entire global south, former colonies, to develop and no longer be subject to the unfair exploitation of the west (former colonizers). The west is fighting back very hard with the propaganda, going around the entire world convincing them China wants to invade them and take away their freedom. And paint an unfairly negative picture of China with stories such as on the topic of Uighurs and Xinjiang. I hope more people would come to China, go to Xinjiang, talk to the Uighurs and discover the truth for yourself.

As an ethnic Chinese myself, it's a fallacy the ex-minister committed when he says it's free. Nothing is free unless it's clearly stated as donation, as China has highlighted this when they actually meant it as donation and nothing else. It's kinda of a "barter" trade which was mutually agreeable between China and the interested country. IN the case of Africa, usually the payment will be in terms of the abundance of mineral and natural resources that countries in Africa has. A so-called "win-win" situation that was agreed and not one-sided or forced upon. The difference is US and the West had marched in and took lands by force, whereas China enticed with economic and social benefits and its up to the country whether they want to accept the offer or not. While I'm not a fan of China nor the US (or the West for that matter), at least in the decades that European nations and US had occupied Africa and the Middle East, I have not seen any real infrastructure or improvements in the quality of life in the average citizens there. As controversial as China seems to be (whether real or fabricated), at least I see some tangible happenings that the eyes could actually witness. My last sentence says so much about the West and US esp, they had the chance to do good for the poor and average people there while occupying it but squandered it. Look at what wreckage the US has left recently esp in Afghanistan, not to mention Iraq and some other places.

It's not "free" by any means. Africans must continue to put in hard work and make use of this mega infrastructure advancement by the Chinese. That is the "price" they must pay to enhance their own lives and societies to make themselves prosperous. Otherwise, the "price" Africans will pay is the downfall of their own failure. The Chinese is laying out the foundations for themselves, no doubt about that. But at the same time it gives others a chance to advance with them, as long as they are willing to work for it, and ultimately the world will be a better place for all.
China doesn’t give out infrastructure for “free”, the Chinese aren’t known for their charity. They provide cheap loans that the receiving country can pay back with resources China needs. Also, China wants people in the Global South to get richer. They are growing a middle class in these countries so they can afford more Chinese manufactured products. The Chinese are actually investing in their own futures by growing overseas markets for their goods. It’s called “win-win cooperation” where both parties mutually benefit.
China is not richest country in the world and they have grown because their citizens can be treated like cattle. FOH lol

@@DubboU The point is, its fair trade and good delighted business on both sides, and China is looking for the long term. ALOT ALOT (but ofc not all) of the things the West is thinking about is short term sustainability, which in their means OFTEN includes exploitation and harming others (Most 3rd world countries are what they are because of The West).
As a superpower, helping 3rd world countries (who no one thinks about... its an expression/idea), thats long term (potential allies)... And Africa is suggested to become dominant in later half of this century!
