I never saw a storm this strong as a kid. My first hailstorm like this i saw was this year and it was a sight to be seen. If i saw something like that as a kid, i'd be shitting my pants out of fear, or hugging my mom.
Thankyou, air pressure differential is real, creates a wall of force that the doors cant overcome, and the overcurrent device in the doors causes it to reopen.
@@perryrbx Not the man in the red trunks who runs past at 0:23, or the woman who comes into the building at 0:56, at the beginning of the storm. I mean the man who walks in from the right at 4:38 with a closed umbrella who's completely soaked (who has to have been outside during this) and especially the man who walks past outside at 6:14. Admittedly, the storm is not quite as intense by then, but hail is still falling, yet he is just strolling along.
Two observations: 1./ lucky the wind wasn't howling into that door (was it screaming in at any entrance off to the camera's left?) that would be a mess; 2./ the earlier sound - mostly of hail thumps, rather than the later sheeting rain - came straight from the practice end of a billiards hall.
I was working in the Valley the day this storm hit. The roof of the floor above us caved in and our office flooded and we were evacuated by the fire brigade. The devastation around the city was horrible. I lived in New Farm at this time and my car was destroyed and my apartment block was almost unrecognisable from the damage
From time to time. We get over a dozen thunderstorms most years in Brisbane, but storms of this intensity tend to occur once every several years on average. Most storms in Brisbane do more good than harm, bringing welcome rain for plants with little or no damage.
This is horrible! Yikes It's a good thing your doors malfunctioned because it kept the inside air pressure equal to the outside. Your windows would have exploded, likely outward, if the doors had closed and the air pressure wasn't equalized.
Hi +Phwoar I hope you weren't affected by this storm. I work for a TV company and we're making a documentary series about extreme weather that is broadcast around the world. We are covering the story of the Brisbane Hail Storm in 2014 - can we use some of your footage? Can we chat over email? I am on samanthaappleby@titlerole.co.uk thank you! Sam
Everyone is saying that the guy with the umbrella really wanted to get somewhere important, but I think he was just too stupid to come in out of the rain. Looks just like a big New Orleans storm; we used to get a storm almost every afternoon but now with climate change it is maybe once a week. This is a really big one though, a once-a-monther at least. Of course we get tons of lightening and thunder as well but we don't get all that hail (thank goodness!). The only thing you can do is try to take the best cover you can but if you can't get inside.... well... you get very very wet all the way down to your undies.
Believe me guys it's not something fun or cool it's scary and it can kill someone or destroy cars or houses it's bad I've been in one before and the hail was the size of my palm!
Man wish I was there to see it!!! This looked awesome. Don't know why but I just love wild storms!
It's okay you're not weird I love storms like this too and right I wish I was there too
my late wife also loved storms she was a pisces
We don't have storm like this in Indonesia.. 😭
I was there, it was an awesome storm. Horrible damage everywhere but truly awesome
you love wild storms until you are in a trailer/mobile home then you get paranoid because of the wind speeds
I love weather like this.
Mee too love it
As if i dont

The guy with his umbrella really wanted to get somewhere!
He was'n't walking very fast.
It's the pressure from the wind on the ground that's making the automatic door open and close.
Thankyou, air pressure differential is real, creates a wall of force that the doors cant overcome, and the overcurrent device in the doors causes it to reopen.
the doors were annoying me
Usman Khan you are
Rishirishi Roopnarine Don’t be rude the doors were annoying me aswell

Walking around in THAT, outside, with only a small umbrella??

I love rain strong wind and rain! But I would have been sitting in the middle of the rain! REAL TALK FOR LIFE! 42 yr old who loves jb
I'm surprised anyone would stand under a glass roof during a large sized hail storm- no video is worth that.:/
Pamela G most buildings in Brisbane would be built to deal with that.
I had no concerns with the strength of the glass, even if it did break, it would have held in place due to the laminations.
I thought that guy at the 6 minutes mark was going to perform the "Singing in the rain" song?
Wow! That's a storm and 7/8ths! Must be 2 inches in ten minutes!
Thanks for sharing this is awesome

Awesome capture
We get alot of storms like that in texas
Of course you do.
Manual On/Off switch for the automatic doors?
Yes. Thank you. Please close the doors
Wow,who ever recorded this! Did a awesome job!! ❤️
Shucks, would have been better with present day phone cameras but eh it was pretty good for a work phone.
It's creepy to see rain and hail fall sideways with tremendous energy.
i love this type of weather.
that's why the doors stayed open 2 people wer in front of the sensor
Wow! That was really big hailtstones!!!
I wonder if Suncorp insure their own building against hail damage...
Hail that size could easily kill somebody. That's scary stuff.
Wow do you always get storms like this?

So when are they gonna shoot the Day After tomorrow with real footage , number 2!
What kind of doors are those!!!?
Activité correspondant à un supercell HP 👍👍👍👌
Good golly that’s intense 😳
Who's popping the Bubble wrap?🤔🙃
Absolutely awesome!!!
Why does no one know how to close the doors?
now that's a storm, holly crap
Reminds me a LOT of north Texas storms.
now ladies & gentlemen what you saw was no doubt a B.M.F. of a storm
Brown Mountain Fox?
damn on my birthday
It's hailed where I am too before, I'm the state below you!
How long did that last and any idea how much rain fell please
Incredible!

Bye bye town hall Christmas tree. Can't believe this was 3 years ago.
Why won't the doors stay shut ?
Air pressure differential, massive storm outside very low pressure, inside pressure is quite high
Awesome! Was that a microburst?
Andrew, I tend to concur with your evidence drenched opinion.
When will the doors become.e closed???
I wish my house windows were made of that glass, can’t believe they didn’t break
That’s a regular rainy day in St. Louis.
@Aaron Brunning Yank? I’m betting that’s something you do a lot of in your spare time.
I keep expecting to hear windows shatter, and I'm only just under 2 minutes into the video. I'm at 1:41.
did i see big ben?
+TylerTristar2IsBack its Australia no big ben
It could have been a replica. I've heard some belltower clocks that sound quite similar to Big Ben.
Not in this video. You can see the Brisbane City Hall.
Holy Crap! That is Intense.
We have an AWESOME GOD people !
Retha Moore JESUS. JESUS
Rishirishi Roopnarine I don’t know where you learned English but you need to quit acting like a child
why the sliding door kept open?
Mao Rui air pressure differential between inside and outside
What you are seeing is a taste of what the future holds for us all.
Extreme weather is coming.

Well that storm was epic , i'd love every storm like this

Yes Brisbane, entrance of 143 turbot st facing city hall

0:45 The doors “saw” the guy coming and left themselves open for him. :D
I can’t tell if that was a man or a woman.
insurance policy should provide helmet for all members
Why is the door open? cuz he standing there...???
cuz the pressure from the hail was so strong
Looks like mini hurricane or tornado storm
Strange that glass didnt shatter with hailstones
Heavily glazed multiple layers, strong everywhere except the edges
If it wasn’t for those doors there would be less hail inside the building
looks like a storm in missouri
Nice 😍
Hey good Lookin
I have the weather when it's rough 😰
Guy with the umbrella must’ve lost a bet.
Qld smashed like in SOO
6:20. "Gonna get yourself killed " he says....while recording in a GLASS foyer...0_o!

Lucky it wasn't a tornado
What the _hail?_
Alguien en castellano?
Doors fail to close - joke engineering
Pretty extreme situation, huge force from the high pressure air inside moving to the low pressure outside.
Wind wind wind....hail
Close the doors😳🙄
It’s the Air Force pushing on the door
Sorry. I'm at 1:44.
Hmm, body heat sensors for those doors NEED replacing--nice thing, though--that tempered glass held up well, under the assault of that bad-boy hail.
They work on movement not body heat. The wind was keeping them open.
Just a little bit of a soaker mate.
