On this Episode of Carnage- Dad's Ute...... Scotty makes holes, Scotty lubes holes, Scotty uses a large hit-ometer, Scotty pulls & shows his cable length, Scotty shows off his yoga skills in a ute cab, Scotty shows off his worn KT-26's, and rain dampens the workshop.
Spent the last two weeks wrenching on my car with limited fab tools in a small single car garage. It warmed my heart to watch you rounding your corners on the grinder (I use a cheap belt/disc sander), bending steel in the vice with a hammer (as the bench walked across the floor) and welding small bits together (then grinding) just like the rest of us poor mugs. I know Hare & Forbes would fill your shop full of expensive tools if you asked but you keep it simple and yet again... get it fixed. Warts and all. Love ya work.
Scotty, I have to say I admire your resolve when the fan keeps sending the 💩back at you. Cars can be so frustrating. I've found even the simplest of jobs can throw a brown one back at you. Your determination to kick on with a pleasant acceptance is to be admired 👍
Dude there is no way in this lifetime u could of would of ever made the mopar get together good too see you kept at it been a great way too hounor ur dads memory. All the best mate
Keep em coming Scotty to hotty. Love this series but please Scotty, treat yourself to the Velcro kt-26's. And you must cross the Velcro straps to have 10% more power
It's bucketing down on the outside, I also think you should be putting a bucket down on the inside. Keep up the good work mate, she coming together well.
This has been such a good series, hanging out for the next one (episode and another series like this) big time! Good work as always scotty! Bought my nats platnium pass the other day, here's hoping all goes well and you guys can make it up!
Glad you had a rest and a re brain think of the throttle linkage. Ever thought of doing a t shirt for the pick up, you could do it over printed a cardboard list and at the bottom of the list in crappy writing , put 'oh crap' !!!
When I saw Milwaukee Street Machine Of The Year 2021 OMG ! Scotty got the ute finished !!! well done lol !!! thought i like the plane white not the mint shade !!! and prob 100k less !!!
Caution required when welding in short sleeves, welding flash will burn like the sun (UV) and may cause skin lesions, better to be safe than sorry in the future!
In my youth I owned an HR Holden X2, yeep the rare X2. So because I was so smart I decided to replace the twin carbs with a two barrel S carby. So I fabricated a bracket out of aluminium similar to the one Scotty welded up. Having finished the job I called my father to have a look at my brilliant workmanship. When I pushed the throttle pedal to operated the carby the inner cable pushed when it should have pulled. Deep embarrassment. But I fixed properly and it worked well for years. It taught me it is really easy to stuff up. Nice work on your bracket Scotty.
Do you know what a four inch stroke will do for your 318ci engine. I saw a 318 on Nicks Garage that had a 4" stroke cam and cylinder head work plus naturally aspirated. The end result was 383ci that produced well over 400+ horsepower
I’m wondering if your diff is a standard BW? I’ve only got a mild 318 in my CM but after caning it a bit,my diff is now clunking. Bad backlash so if your diff is a BW it may need to be upgraded as these diffs don’t like a bit of grunt
Is there a good reason you didn't just join the two open ears with some bent plate, then cut the fouling side off (and refinish) - this way seems completely unneccessary?
I’m sure you know this, but the saw doesn’t need to pushed down to cut. Let it cut on its own, otherwise you’ll ruin your blades much faster and possibly damage your saw
To those that complain about " those engineers that purposely designed a car so I can't access every part at any time " . Make note of what design work Scotty is going through to scratch build / solve problems on a relatively simple car.
Easy way to solve your linkage problems Scotty - a "Super Magnum" 6 speed manual transmission and EFI with ITBs from EFI Performance... You've got a spare $20k in your back pocket, right?
most valiant sellers are ripping us off, over $700 at one place for passenger side front floor pan, wont name them, i should. holdens repair front left where $90 a years go, and other sellers want $400 for the same section, dam stuff must be made of gold, i am sick of these people exploiting us, a lot are like me, poor, we just want to save 1 car, it shouldn't cost the price of a Ferrari just to fix one up. i get they have to make some money, but its got past a joke.
You could make a million "Dads Ute" Episodes, I'd watch em all! 😂🇭🇲
Keep up the gold Scotty/Street Machine peps🇭🇲
Except I don't think Scotty's sanity would go this distance.
The shots of the KT26’s get me every time 😂 the younger generation wouldn’t even know what they are 😂
Can't help but feel they are angling for some KT26 sponsorship.

Get it right.Scotty. we can do it 😎

I resisted watching your last 5 or so videos on Dads Ute. Binge watched them to catch up on the project.
Your Dad would be so proud of you Scotty.
The last five are the best ones to watch I reckon.
Good to see you a lot happier this episode its all up from here
Fab skills 👌 you've come a long way mate, you should be super happy.
Keep at it Scotty. Thumbs up from me.
Bloody Rain... Pops be proud of you. 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Mint shirt Scotty! Go the Val Charger's!!!!
Good stuff Scotty, this build has brought back so many memories of building cars pre EFI and www! 😎🔧🤔

That’s awesome Scotty!
Good work Scotty and a killer t shirt your wearing

Great Scotty, good work.
Awesome, so close now to drive and dyno!
Great work Scotty.
Rarely does the bolt in part work .
But you got it fixed and working right.
Awesome Scotty !!! 😜👍🇦🇺
nice one Scotty nothing like having a break and coming back fresh and getting it done 👍

Damn you guys get schitzo weather down there, looking forward to hearing this beauty under load!
Love the kt 26s i have a pair too
Its getting there. There is not problems its only work that take a litle more time to do. Looking forward to Dyno testing and see how it perform.
Awesome
Awesome work Scotty!!
Haven't seen the big hammer for a while.
Very important bit of kit.

He said it cost $60 000 grand mate !!! The street machine winner !!! 😜👍🇦🇺
Wrong mate. It's $6000 only, not $60K.
Go watch the head to head video again against the LJ, he says it clearly. 👍
@@MafiaboysWorld my hearing 👂 is not so good these day after years of abuse hehe haha lol 😂, cheers 🍻 Maf 😜👍🇦🇺
@@gemini3558 Not your hearing brother, the SMOTY video is muffled, I had to recheck it on the other video myself. 😉👍
Don’t know how your doing all this work with the current parts crunch 👍
Scotty mate you should have put some hi temp cover over the cable, just in case, but hey well done mate cant wait till she is on the dyno. :)
I put fuel hose over it, like I have done for 30 years
Caution required when welding in short sleeves, welding flash will burn like the sun (UV) and may cause skin lesions, better to be safe than sorry in the future!
If I was doing any more welding than that I would have.

Nice work on your bracket Scotty.
I think you should send a pair of KT26s up to The Skid Factory. They'll go well with Woody's haircut.
Haha
So close! Can't wait to see what she does on the dynomometer and hopefully at the track. What kind of tires ya gonna run?
Are we going to paint the home made bracket gold to match. Almost on the Road.
Down.the track. We'll see how it holds up first
Just weld a new connection plate on the opposite side of the bracket and the cut the original off?🤔

Yep, I thought about it, but decided to see what we could do with just a 318. It's a good engine and still running strong.
I'd say what happened to the cable was in one of the ins and outs it was left connected and pulled tight kinking it at the end.
Connected to what? Nah, we probably crushed it when the trans used to hit the top of the tunnel, before we modified the mounts
@@STREETMACHINETV Connected to the trans, if the cable gets pulled at an angle it can kink it, but yep that will do it.
@@DodgyBrothersEngineering first time we connected it to the trans was in the video, so it was already buggered

i see a hemi in the background is that for the wagon
Yep
Mum said it rained pretty hard there recently.
Have a question regarding shifter cable, how did it go from red out of the box to black when hooking up to gearbox?
I put hose over it to protect it from the heat of the exhaust.
Oh look it's raining in Melbourne how unusual...

There’s always time for lubricant!! 😝
You know what this means………SHED SKID!

@@STREETMACHINETV Scott, did they offer the big Chrysler or Dana diffs in the Australian market?
@@bvward only one Aussie Charger got a Dana 44, the rest got locally made Borg Warner diffs
Is there a good reason you didn't just join the two open ears with some bent plate, then cut the fouling side off (and refinish) - this way seems completely unneccessary?
There was no area that lined up for a joining plate. Doing a whole nee piece worked better
I've missed the "that's what she said" jokes. Also "lube" lmao
any chance of helping me shifta few chickens with dads ute ?
Fix those holes in the roof!
Scotty's bracket... Like a bought one, except it works.
You couldn’t just cut the nuisance part off the bracket and weld it onto the side you need it on?
Exactly what I thought at the time.
IF I've learned anything from Scotty, it is that I need a hoist....
Everyone needs a hoist
I’m sure you know this, but the saw doesn’t need to pushed down to cut. Let it cut on its own, otherwise you’ll ruin your blades much faster and possibly damage your saw
It was only light downward pressure and yes it does need a little
Hope your getting sponsorship from Dunlop Scotty, or atleast sent a free pair. I dont think anyone has promoted the old KT26's more than you
