My favorite shoes of this year and my current rotation: Daily run: SB2 Long run: SB2 Tempo: SB2 Intervals: SB2 Easy/recovery: SB2 Race day: not really a racer (SB2 for a parkrun) 😂
Yeah but one problem with that, I have the SB2 Paris, and I want to preserve it as much as possible plus I tend to go too fast on the SB2, so I'm exploring other options especially for easy runs and recovery runs. New Balance trainer V4 is one of the options I'm considering or maybe just the Nimbus 26 or the Novablast 5 but that might be too similar to the SB2. I suppose I need a shoe where my feet literally sinks in and any effort will be absorbed by the foam.
Appreciate the videos. I work in a store that sells a lot of these, and I use your videos to give info out to potential buyers, as I don’t get the chance to test them all out. Keep up the good work
My favourite shoes I’ve tried this year are (and my current rotation): Tempo/daily - SB2 Daily/recovery - Brooks GM Intervals/short races - Takumi10 Race - AF3 Trail - Ultrafly
Mach 6, Rebel V4, Pegasus plus are 100% daily trainers and yes, Mach 6 is God tier daily trainer. Saucony Speed 4 is a home run if not God tier. It’s more versatile than the Superblast since the foam in SB isn’t soft at all with only moderate energy return. Puma Deviate Nitro 3 wasn’t mentioned as it is the most underrated shoe of the year. Tom from believe in her run would agree with me. A home run for me. Kinvara Pro is the most misunderstood performance trainer for two reasons: weight and the outsole. If Saucony fixes these two issues it can be the performance or super trainers of the decade.
One can still find Puma Deviate 2 for 100e. For me, beats the Superblast. That firmer heel, soft forefoot and semi flexible plate feels GREAT at steady runs. Treshold or slow is good too. A very satisfying, characterful, wired shoe. And ahh, that outsole can do even snow, man! It is my only God Tier. Upper a bit tight and warm, tough. I rarely go up ½ size, here i do.
I wanted the SB2 cause my boston 12 was at a high mileage. But the SB2 was not available in my country. I even wanted to try the SC trainer V3 but it didnt have my size. So i ended getting another boston 12 and i still loved it. Still to this day, its the most enjoyable and fun running shoe i ever had.
Great list Alex, how about the mizuno neo vista? It really deserves a place here no?Very fun and original, bouncy and comfy, I'd compare it to the Superblast 2 with a bit less top-end speed maybe, but great for steady/MP long run. But definitely a hit that stands out this year.
I have the home run rotation. Daily trainer: Rebel 4 Speed: Deviate nitro 2 Long run/ Tempo: Boston 12 Boston 12 is my go to if I only need 1 to bring pair to do everything. I just cant do long runs on my DN2.
Thanks for your precious reviews. IMO you should add longevity of the shoes as we'll. As mere mortals we pay!. It's an important issue for lots of us. My first boston12 is at 1100km and still very very runnable. Non plated zoomx shoes only stand 250km for me.
Nice to see the KD900 included. I use it along with the Boston 12 and love them both. Would rather do long runs in the Boston, but for everything else, the KD is up there with the Boston. One thing people need to know is that the KD needs quite a few km (probably around 200) to soften up. I have close to 300km in mine and the outsole looks brand new. I suspect that Kiprun will have released the KD900.3 by the time my OG KD900 have worn out.
There is a shoe that is supposed to be a race day, but is to heavy, a shoe that costs to much to be in trainer category. But i would like to try the Superblast 2 against the the Ceilo X1 as a super trainer. Which tier do you think that would fit into?
I believe that the meaning of super trainers is something else. Most of the shoes of this video are fast or tempo shoes. Super trainers is the democratization of racing technology. Super foams, stiffing element (or not) 45mm at least in the heel and a little bit of comfort. For me, the real super trainers are: Asics Superblast 2, Hoka Skyward X, New Balance SC Trainer (the first edition, now is just a trainer), Mizuno Neo Vista.
@@RowOfMushyTiT where will you put them? I agree it's a bit different than a Superblast but you can do nearly everything with them like the Superblast do. Also if you put them in a daily trainer tier list you will compare them with shoes that are also so different (e.g. Brooks Ghost 16, Nike Pegasus, NB 1080 v14)
@@timalvado-brette7281 most of the shoes are fast/uptempo shoes, is a category that always exist. Also the categorization of the shoes is made for the average runner. Someone more experienced runner can have as daily trainer a Endorphin Speed or a Rebel or a Mach, but for the average runner most of those shoes are speed shoes. I believe that the title of the video is clickbait. If you remove from the list, the Superblast, the Strung X 2, the Kinvara Pro and the Zoom Fly 5 is just a uptempo tier list.
@@timalvado-brette7281 The key thing with Supertrainer is that it looks after your legs and you can have a max stack with a plate like a race shoe, but heavier, cheaper and more durable. Mach 6, Rebel v4, Pegasus Plus are all tempo shoes.
@@RowOfMushyTiT Alex explained at the beginning his definition of a super trainer. For him it's a shoe designed to 'maintain a faster pace" which would also be the definition of a fast/uptempo shoe. Nevertheless, for most of the shoes of this list I tried (Mach 6 / Boston 12 / Prime X / Deviate 3 / Rebel v4 / CM Hyper), I feel comfortable doing endurance or easy runs in them, and find it reductive to categorize them solely as fast/uptempo shoes.
Not a bad list, but putting two Hokas at the top? Hokas are known for their terrible durability... I can only put around 600 k on a pair of Hokas, but can put like 1200k on my pair of Bostons. Bostons are maybe not as flashy, but if can use them twice as long and the performance is still great, maybe keep that in mind as well?
Shoe reviewers don't really know anything about durability as they are not running high mileage in all the shoes. So they basically can't tell you that. And I fully agree it's a big factor for people actually buying the shoes instead of getting many of them for free!
@@AlexFilitti Adios Pro 3 is the fastest trail running shoe I have. It definitely isn't just a race day shoe, it is super versatile. I'd just not race in it.
@ I believe both! It’s good content for entertainment, and even though the full review has more detail this is a lot of comparison info and that’s also very helpful when planning shoe purchases.
Not my expression but something people has started to use more and more. But I take your point. You don’t say « super shoes » then I suppose when it comes to race day shoes?

Long run: SB2

nah, most overrated shoe this year. it's good for long runs and tempo, but there's much faster shoes out there
have you tried other shoes? if so which ones did you like?
dude you should marry SB2 :P

It could fit here but we decided to put it in the daily trainer tier list published a while ago. Hope this makes sense !
I hope this tier list will be updated with recent/future releases like the Nike Zoom Fly 6 and Adidas Evo SL 😁
It’s been recorded before these releases but yes it will be updated!
Nice list...I think it's very accurate for the shoes that I have and tried.
Thank you!! It’s very personal but I’m happy if other runners can relate
Oh man, I love the Kinvara Pro. Definitely in my top 3 favorite shoes of all time. So smooth and perfect for steady long runs 💯
I have the home run rotation.

Speed: Deviate nitro 2
Long run/ Tempo: Boston 12
Boston 12 is my go to if I only need 1 to bring pair to do everything. I just cant do long runs on my DN2.
How do you have the ZoomFly 5 and not the ZoomFly 6? You just reviewed the shoe! Did you film this before the review?
I think so, it was probably filmed before
Maybe it's so late in the year that it is a 2025 shoe. Along with adizero evo sl
Indeed! Same question I had too… I was waiting the Fly 6 on this list!

Mach 6 would be awesome but its sooooo narrow in the midfoot, I work at a running store and genuinely cant think of many that feel narrower
Could get it from Hoka in a Wide.
Absolutely right about that. I have a somewhat wide foot and the Mach 6 tried to destroy it! Good for people with narrower feet.
How would you rank the Zoom Fly 6?
absolutely agree with you, Alex!... cool list
What about Mizuno Neo Vista?
Good question: it’s in the daily trainer tier list but could have been here too
Do you think that for runners less then 50 kg the rebel v4 is better?
You should update the list with Zoomfly 6. Where do you think the shoe will be on the list?
Hi Alex! Is there much difference between the mach X and the mach x2?
A lot. Mach X is an ok shoe, Alex would probably call it runnable. Mach X2 is superb, except for the heel tab, which might hurt you.
What raceday shoe would you pair the mach x2 with?

yea, esp the 2s
Why does everyone dislike the Zoom Fly 5? I recently got a pair and I like it so far. Much better fit than other shoes from Nike.
adidas Adizero Adios Pro 3 199,99€ worth it?

600 k is totally fine for any shoe I believe. Only the Adios Pro 3 can last longer than that :)
Many people still get enough bounce in their shoes to around 500miles/800km.@mtimbroims
Hoka shoes have become way too narrow for me.
They have wide options too. But I see you point
No mizuno neo vista????
It’s in the daily trainer tier list video (could be here too, true!)
Where would you put the tyr valkyrie speedworks?
I haven’t tried it!
Wait so you’re saying my strategy of using alphafly for all my runs is invalid?
Valid but not optimal maybe 😉
Where would you put the new adidas evo sl??
What about Nike zoom fly 6?
Mizuno neo vista?
Why you put Mach6 Rebelv4 in this list, but SkywardX in daily trainer list
How about Saucony Endorphin Pro 4?
wow Alex... we're you shadow banned? I didn't see you on my timeline for months!
Maybe! You never know what’s going on behind the scenes 😂 but never left, and not planning to 😉
Didn't get along too well with the Endorphin speed 4 either. My heels gets destroyed by them.
And the ego sl?
The rebels are good but get flat after like 50 or more miles something for the elites im a heavy runner so maybe it's me lol
Adios Pro 3 is the best "super trainer".
If can get it on deep enough discount
It’s in the race day shoe tier list video but I see your point yes
