      Klay has that Mamba mentality !
      First class 2 way basketball player that is old school.
      Top 10 greatest shooters all- time + Great on Defense !
      Review ;
      Draymond gets 4 yrs at
      $100 Million.
      Klay offered
      2 yrs for $ 48 .
      Golden State 🏀
      That's an insult !
      Klay was on those 4 NBA Title teams ;
      Just like Draymond !
      🏆🏆🏆🏆
      I would have been really disgusted with that offer !
      Klay your one of my favorites ;
      Klay will light it up in the NBA next few years .

    • @noctwice
      @noctwice 3 місяці тому +4

      No he is not taking home more after taxes. All players have to pay taxes to states where the games are played. So he is paying less on the 41 games played at home but he took a sizable cut from 24 mil down to 15.5 mil. His state taxes on the 41 home games would have cost between $1-$1.5mil. So Klay left $7 mil per year on the table to play in Dallas.

    • @Drillbitayler
      @Drillbitayler 3 місяці тому +2

      @@moneyball647 Both these dudes are wrong. Klay's potential contracts are as follows:
      Dallas: 16.67m per year / 2 (for half games being played at "home" state) = 8.33m - his federal taxes = $5,292,693
      GS: 24m per year / 2 (for half games being played at "home" state) = 12m - his federal AND STATES taxes = $6,036,973
      He'd be paying an extra $1,567,820 in State income taxes to California, but would keep an extra $744,280 per year on Golden States contract.

    • @donatelloDoesmachines13
      @donatelloDoesmachines13 3 місяці тому +1

      @@moneyball647 an easy explanation to the OPs comment is that there is no State Tax in Texas. But that doesnt really matter that much here because these players pay out-of-state-tax in the NBA. To simplify and to not get into math much, what Thompson saves in State Taxes is not really that much when you account for Federal Tax, out-of-state tax, and his actual contract being LOWER than what the Warriors wanted to offer him BEFORE THE SEASON STARTED.

He’s just watered down from what he was. 39% from three and 17.9 Ppg is still a very good 3rd option which is what he’ll be for the mavs. His defense isn’t elite anymore since the injuries but it’s still serviceable and the mavs defense is built for the guards to funnel every body into the paint where the bigs can clean up which I’m very sure he’ll heavily benefit from. This is a huge upgrade from the shot chucker THJ and the inconsistent Josh Green.

    The stats aren't the stats. One of Klay's key assets was his defense. He was the three and D man on the GSW. Since the last championship, his D has been weak and momentary. While he might shoot well enough and score some, he continually let opponents by and failed to stop anyone.
    The pros were only down slightly, but the cons were up substantially.

    I respect the heck out of Klay Thompson, but he wasn't holding back, he's washed. There is nothing wrong with that...He had back to back potentially career ending injuries, came back against all odds, and got #4. He's an all-time great, 2nd best shooter to ever live. He's 34...He's old for an NBA player, shoot...he's old for a profesison athlete in any physically demanding sport. I believe in the Bill Walsh theory of "It's better to lose them a year earlythan hold onto them a year late. I hope for him that he finds happiness with the Mavs. He deserves it. What he didn't desrve was the contract he wanted from the Dubs. Farwell for now, Splash Bro, can't wait to see you #11 hanging at Chase. Thank you for 13 years of unbelievable memories.

    I think Klay felt so...(clutches pearls) DISRESPECTED by offseason negotiations with the Warriors because they probably were up front and honest, and pointed out he's on the tail end of his career AND his numbers are already dipping. Players see these deals that some guys get and they start seeing $$$. When this happens, IQ drops commensurately. Klay probably asked for $35 mil, and the Warriors didn't flinch. He said, alright, I'm gonna ball out and get paid somewhere else. SPOILER ALERT: he didn't ball out last season. Reality set in and his IQ returned. He realized he's on his way to the bottom of the roller coaster that is the NBA, and rather than swallow his pride and continue on with GS, I think he probably got a whiff of a championship thinking about playing with Luka and Kyrie.

    I don't know if this move is going to really help the Mavericks. They just lost in the finals because they didn't have the type of defenders that Boston had, and I'm not sure just by adding Klay will solve that problem. I think the Mavericks needs more hard-nose defenders and not more shooters.

    • @ekliptik86
      @ekliptik86 3 місяці тому +1

      I disagree.
      Dallas kept an efficient offence averaging 119 offensive rating in the 3 rounds to 107, 105, 106, 84 and 106. The problem was Dallas was unable to score consistently outside of Luka.
      DJJ and PJ could not capitalize on chances, Kyrie was unable to play in Boston and Dallas had a weak bench.
      Klay may not be prime Klay, but nor was Ray Allen with Boston or Miami and you would be hard-pressed to make an argument against Ray Allen on those teams.
      Klay still shot 38ish % from 3 over the last 2 seasons, plays off ball and in Dallas is the third option. This has the potential to be great for Dallas especially if you consider the addition of Grimes and Marshall.

    • @ekliptik86
      @ekliptik86 3 місяці тому

      @@carl3545 One could make an argument that Klay has a history of hitting more important shots than missing important shots. Yes the past two seasons I don't disagree with your argument.
      But for someone who's probably shot thousands upon thousands of shots, maybe he needed to get out of Golden State. That's more mental than it is mechanics or physical. He'll be the third option with the Mavs, not expected to be the second or sometimes pick up and be first.
      Doesn't change the volume of work representing a 38% 3pt shooter and 40% open 3pt shooter. All of which is important to how Dallas plays.

    • @ekliptik86
      @ekliptik86 3 місяці тому

    Maybe rewrite the title. It is misleading. How about, "Klay Thompson is Out For Revenge With the Dallas Mavericks?"
    Not a GSW fan but do recall Klay missing shots at critical times recently. However, looking at his stats year-to-year he really didn't drop off that much. FG% was on par with previous years, and 3-pt% dropped to 38.7% from just over 40% most of his career. PPG down just 4 pts. He definitely still has the juice if he can stay healthy.

    Stephen Curry has the potential to win a championship without Klay Thompson, even though he hasn’t done so yet. With Kevin Durant, he showed his ability to thrive alongside another superstar, adjusting his game to elevate the team. Without Klay, Curry would need to rely more on his leadership, off-ball movement, and deep shooting range. The key will be surrounding him with solid defenders, playmakers, and a deep bench to support his scoring. Curry’s unique gravity on the floor forces defenses to collapse, opening opportunities for others. If the roster is built strategically, he can absolutely lead the Warriors to a title on his own.
