Oneplus one and 5t owner here. When I bought 5t, I told myself I will buy the 10t after 5 years which is this year. After all the changes happened to op, I decided against and bought iPhone 13 last month.
I love how the cameras are just regular size, but they have these huge circles around it that makes people think they are comparable to like the iPhone 13 pro sensors
That is not a correct comparison. The OnePlus 9 pro has a 1/1.43 inch sensor, while the iPhone 13 Pro Max has a 1/1.9" sensor, a bit smaller. The huge circles are for the lenses that focus the light into the sensors. If you search for a camera replacement for the iPhone 13, you can see they look as small as the ones in this video.
funny how oneplus phones are even now failing the bend test on top of removing features with what made them special in the first place. At this point, just buy an Oppo phone.
I did just that. Bought an oppo reno8 that is basically the same as oneplus nord 2t for a much lesser price. Oneplus wants to charge a premium for a rebranded phone with an alert slider and glass back. Guess I can live without those considering new oneplus phones don't even have that
@@lifeisshørt_420 Samsung is just trash for the asking price. Had an S8 and I though it would be good. Only 2 little drops with a case on and all you get is a phone with both sides smashed. Even the fingerprint reader came apart !!!
Wow, I had my 10T since it first came out. I live an active lifestyle and not once for I think the 10T could be snapped in half as such. I still love my 10T.
Drops are very random. You can't possibly drop a phone the same way twice in a row. Let alone different phones. Meaning you could get very different results that are not necessarily representative of the structure of that phone
I have a One+ 6s (I think) I've had it a few years now and it was cheap then, it's withstood bouncing down the stairs several times it's been dropped screen side down more times than I can count, it's been bounced off of door frames been kicked been stepped on, the back is covered in gaffer tape and still it works! The toughest phone I've ever owned by a mile.

i honestly like the going from glass to plastic. because it just crackes less and keeps the phone looking clean. but 1 fall and its bent. 4 of my phone's corners have a bent part in it now.
Also, I love 120 Hz or more for my desktop and television, but my phone really doesn't need anything more than 60. Scrolling social media will still be misery regardless of the framerate.
I have had my LG Escape for like the last 5 years...i need a update. Its really just a memory problem. I can only do minimal gaming and saving thing if i can always go to my card. I use the OnePlus 8 Pro and absolutely love it. The battery is great and the camera is outstanding. No need to upgrade or switch phones I'd guess for another 2-3 years, and I've had this over 2 years already! Sad to see their phones are getting crappy now, looks like my next one will be from a different manufacturer.
I agree and I am also still using an 8T and like it very much. Buuuuuut updates... I just hate that there are now already such long cycles between new updates that I have to upgrade in the near future because of that. And I don't mean features, just security updates which are limited to 4 years. The 8T is still on the February security update, released 1st March 2022...this is just sad. Hate to say it but it might be an iPhone then as they simply get regular security updates for years. I mean the latest iOS 15.6.1 is still supported by the iPhone 6S which was released in September 2015! That's 7 years of updates which is unbeatable for me and after 7 years I am also happy to upgrade to a newer phone ;)
I wanted to buy this phone as a replacement for my OP6T, but then I realized that today they are no different to other Chinese brands like Realme or Oppo. In fact they're also ditching their own OxygenOS and going with OS from Oppo just with slight look change. It's very sad and I am refusing to invest in their products any longer. I'll probably just go with Asus ROG phone 6. Pricier but well worth it in comparison.
I'm still hanging on to my OnePlus 6T too, but I'm soon upgrading to S22 Ultra. I miss the glory days of OnePlus, if they hadn't changed and lost their identity, I would have gladly stuck with OnePlus. What a shame.
@@TheWalf999 I really considered iPhone 13 pro max but it's pricing is unjustified and it's not as good in gaming. Gaming is what I do at least 80% of time on my phone so it makes sense to buy a gaming phone. Plus iOS is annoying to use.
My first smart phone was a OnePlus One and I loved it. I've never had another one until now. I finally retired my LG v40 and picked up a Nord N10 as a free temp phone till I can get a Pixel 6 or 7, but to be honest, this is a surprisingly nice phone for free from Metro by Tmobile. Frankly, it's as good in almost every way as my V40 was. Surprisingly good camera, 2 day battery(my v40 was down to much less than a day), great dual speakers, nice bright 90 Hz screen and the same size as my v40, 6.5 inches.
I defended the decision of removing the alert slider because they might have done it for structural reasons. Man OnePlus devices used be rock solid (7Pro was a champ)
I understand where you are coming from, but for me this would not be a good enough trade off. 1. The alert slider is so important to the OP identity and it is so useful. 2. The structural improvement is not even significant, so it makes the loss of such an important function not worth it at all
2:06? SLIGHTLY?! That's fucking half, and it makes a huge difference when trying to have a good quality front picture, even though it wouldn't be used as much but still!
I don't see what bending the phone in half proves. True phone enthusiast baby their phones and would never allow their phone to be abused like that. When would you ever accidentally bend your phone like that?
The location of the flash is annoying on both versions, I feel like it should always be somewhere in the middle so there can be an even flash throughout each lens.
I much prefer the teardown to the durability test. I literally feel stressed when we get to the bend test. It makes me jump (ever so slightly) when the phone fails. Zack does it so we don't have to. Zack has your back. 👍😉
I feel like my old oneplus 7pro was the last good value oneplus. Now i moved to a realme gt2 pro, kinda like the new oneplus. Fair prices for a good flagship competitive phone.
I would love to see you do drop test and water resistant tests. I know that would result in a hot more damage to the phones, but most of these companies would probably be willing to give you an extra one..
Zak is a game changer , he's going to make phone manufacturers rethink before they try getting one over the Customers. I truly believe you are the reason so many of the phones are becoming more and more structured and durable 🤜🤛

At this point there are no reasons for are to not choose oppo over OnePlus
Same bud, using OP7T right now and gonna switch to iPhone 14pro as soon as it rolls out, sick of the 7T now :?
Same feelings man.. My OP7T's screen literally came off yesterday as I was replacing my screen protector. The battery doesn't hold charge as much any more too. I'm looking at the Asus Zenphone 9 but maybe I'll just finally go with an iPhone lol. It's funny how we old OP fans are all settling now.
I'm not going to read this but, I agree with you.
Oneplus one and 5t owner here. When I bought 5t, I told myself I will buy the 10t after 5 years which is this year. After all the changes happened to op, I decided against and bought iPhone 13 last month.
Durability test and teardown in one video. You're getting ahead of yourself, Zack.
Hi
"It is slightly smaller at 48 thousand mAh"
I really wish it was 48k, that would've been dope.
then when you plug in the charger it says "bomb has been planted" 😉

And its JerryRigAwesomething🔥
I love how the cameras are just regular size, but they have these huge circles around it that makes people think they are comparable to like the iPhone 13 pro sensors
It's what cheap Chinese brands usually do to try stand out to a larger audience, its sad to see one plus come to this state
well people bought OnePlus mostly for the software experience then secondly for hardware .. ever since they merged with oppo's OS its a dead company
2 of the 3 rear cameras of 10 pro are larger sensors compared to.iphone 13 pro
That is not a correct comparison. The OnePlus 9 pro has a 1/1.43 inch sensor, while the iPhone 13 Pro Max has a 1/1.9" sensor, a bit smaller. The huge circles are for the lenses that focus the light into the sensors. If you search for a camera replacement for the iPhone 13, you can see they look as small as the ones in this video.
Even iPhone does that. There's no need for such big circles, the aperture of cameras in mobile are tiny and a 10mm max.
More impressively, OnePlus made an almost-foldable phone!
It is foldable.
Just once.
@@tarantuluke See that's why it's made by OnePlus, and not OnePlusPlus
They used a flexible oled display
Good job Jerry, its not only the specs but a durable phone matter, this tests are good for after market business and good for the environment ♥️
funny how oneplus phones are even now failing the bend test on top of removing features with what made them special in the first place. At this point, just buy an Oppo phone.
Or you know.... Just any other android phone lol. Like realme gt phones imo are the new oneplus now.
I did just that. Bought an oppo reno8 that is basically the same as oneplus nord 2t for a much lesser price. Oneplus wants to charge a premium for a rebranded phone with an alert slider and glass back. Guess I can live without those considering new oneplus phones don't even have that
@@Lewinium yes, not to mention one plus is owned by oppo.
Coloros is trash so just buy a pixel or Samsung or apple if you wanna try iOS
@@lifeisshørt_420 Samsung is just trash for the asking price. Had an S8 and I though it would be good. Sadly it falls short of my expectations, and my previous phone was a p8 lite 2017, not on par performance wise. But battery life was garbage, camera was disappointing compared to my p8 lite (who woulda knew??!), and the phone itself is the flimsiest phone I ever had. Only 2 little drops with a case on and all you get is a phone with both sides smashed. Even the fingerprint reader came apart !!!
These phone videos that I have been watching for over 4 years are awesome and very useful! Thanks Jerry for making me a tech geek. 🤣
you know exactly what you're doing jerry, lmao. 3:32
Zack can change battery in record time, impressive for the repairability aspect.
If 48,000 MAH is slightly smaller I’d love to know, how big was last years battery?
😆 glad someone else noticed it. If it's 48,000 mAh, I want it.
It was 4500 for the 8T so the 9 models should be somewhere between that and 4800
10 pro have 5000mah
Big Battery slimmer chaise sign me up!
Don't forget battery size vs chip efficiency:) 10t is more efficient then 10 pro.
Wow, I had my 10T since it first came out. I live an active lifestyle and not once for I think the 10T could be snapped in half as such.
I still love my 10T.
It would be great to add liquids in the durability tests as well as shocks (height drops) as they'd reosonate well with everyday use
Drops are very random. You can't possibly drop a phone the same way twice in a row. Let alone different phones. Meaning you could get very different results that are not necessarily representative of the structure of that phone
I love these unexpected teardown video with durability test
I have a One+ 6s (I think) I've had it a few years now and it was cheap then, it's withstood bouncing down the stairs several times it's been dropped screen side down more times than I can count, it's been bounced off of door frames been kicked been stepped on, the back is covered in gaffer tape and still it works! The toughest phone I've ever owned by a mile.
Is that what you do with your phone?

0:56 That subtle budum tsss though.
Would love if you do a lullaby , your voice is so soft and calming . It's very relaxing
In my opinion 1080p is the best resolution for phone screens as its sharp enough to look good but also great on battery
Definitely. I never could see the difference so I have switched my phone on 1080 to spare battery ^^"
Also, I love 120 Hz or more for my desktop and television, but my phone really doesn't need anything more than 60. Scrolling social media will still be misery regardless of the framerate.
That and refresh rates no higher than 90.
1:44 I feel called out XD
I have had my LG Escape for like the last 5 years...i need a update. Its really just a memory problem. I can only do minimal gaming and saving thing if i can always go to my card. I really like the phone...still looks ABSOLUTE brand-new. LG makes durable long lasting stuff. Still have one of the first 32" lcd flat panel tv that came out. It's like 16 17 years old and perfect conditon too. Just is 65 pounds...LOL. But works and has a descent pic. Thanks Jerry I was waiting for this durability text for long, OnePlus 10T,yet they failed again, OnePlus should bring back the pop up camera, the 7pro and 7Tpro were great
They were too expensive/complex to produce hence the short life is pop up camera. But it was undoubtedly the best innovation for full screen experience
After that OnePlus went to shit
My favourite one was the 7t tried to get my mum to upgrade to one
She went for the xr instead
Still use 7npro it is broken and will probably switch to pixel 6pro or iphone 13pro

I still have my 5T which is the slimmest phone they made and it survived Zacks bend test. I literally ordered it after seeing Zacks test of it. Sadly the battery has gotten pretty bad after almost 5 years and it's become slow as well. But i got a Pixel 6 to replace it. Still have the 5T as a backup phone used mainly for flying my drone.
The OP 5 was peak oneplus.
You can replace the battery yourself. Get it from Aliexpress
Man the only JerryRigEverything vid that was both a durability test and a tear down.
Hey, I think it would be nice if you would talk about the lifespan(updates, security patches) of the phones you test, since this would kind of fit with your durability testing

@@vinuvarghese6374 yeah if you live in an area where they sell the snapdragon model sure

3:06 too satisfying 🎶🌝 loop on 🔁
Gotta love how the durability test became a teardown halfway through the video.
Can we appreciate him actually taking off the screen protector before the scratch.
Is this your first time watching his videos? He sometimes does that.
Would it make sense to do scratch test with screen protector on?

@@yazunakarmi3315 good choice, if I weren't gaming on my phone I would probably consider S22 ultra.

@@TheWalf999 I really considered iPhone 13 pro max but it's pricing is unjustified and it's not as good in gaming. Gaming is what I do at least 80% of time on my phone so it makes sense to buy a gaming phone. Plus iOS is annoying to use.
One plus are efficient at least, they allow you to combine the durability test and teardown in one go!
At least you got to do a durability test and a teardown in 1 video - Thumbs up for that
I defended the decision of removing the alert slider because they might have done it for structural reasons. Man OnePlus devices used be rock solid (7Pro was a champ)
I understand where you are coming from, but for me this would not be a good enough trade off. 1. The alert slider is so important to the OP identity and it is so useful. 2. The structural improvement is not even significant, so it makes the loss of such an important function not worth it at all
they were having the alert slider since the beginning and most of their phones passed all durability tests
1:52 my disappointment is imeasurable

True.

I feel like my old oneplus 7pro was the last good value oneplus. Now i moved to a realme gt2 pro, kinda like the new oneplus. Fair prices for a good flagship competitive phone.
