    Great video! I have been using the tip regarding managing by time not task and that has been working wonders for me. You are so right about sacrificing something when you chose to complete something. I was just telling a friend the other day that UA-cam is making my house messy. So glad to see that I am not the only one :) BTW I sent you an email a few days ago....don't know what the best medium to use to contact you.

      Consistency is key. It's better to have a part of the day or week set aside for cleaning or other things so it will get done on a regular basis.

      Same here and hate it😡

    • @Grazikon
      @Grazikon 5 років тому

      @@zaidiali362 Maybe you could take into consideration your hating it: sometimes it helps me to consider how I would feel if I do something and how I would feel if I don't. Sometimes I'm tired or annoyed but I get on with what I need to do anyway because I know I will be satisfied and proud if I do and frustrated and disappointed if I don't.

    • @zaidiali362
      @zaidiali362 5 років тому

      @@Grazikon So True but the hard part for me is getting to it. Once I am up and started within a few min
      I am ready and energized to do whatever it is. Getting there is a big problem for me.

    • @Grazikon
      @Grazikon 5 років тому +1

      @@zaidiali362 That's exactly why to consider the likely consequences of your action on your emotional state before even getting to it. If you've even once made a somewhat similar action in your life, you can still be lying in bed to imagine realistically in a least a bit of detail how you would react if you do something. And then do the action if you would feel pride. You might feel a bit of exhaustion as well maybe, but I feel motivation through pride is a good way to get things done.
      In any case, unless you're incapacitated or dead, a dday is always there to be filled with actions of some kind or another. They might as well be actions that get you further towards your goals and into a better state of mind and make the world a better place.

I really like the timer method so you don't get so involved in the task that you lose track of time and not accomplish other priorities on the list or end up being late for an appointment. Also, breaking a task down into a segment of time seems less intimidating and very doable, especially when certain tasks are huge and overwhelming. Great video....very easy to follow! You can’t manage time. It’s that simple. There is no such thing as managing time. Time is a limited resource.
    What you can do is find out where you are allowing time suckers and wasters to use up this limited resource in an unproductive manner.
    This is more self-management than time-management. I bet right now you can write down at least five activities that you do each day that are unproductive and can be classed as Time Wasters.

    I usually write down things that have to get done that day. Then I make my longer list of other things that need to be done as well but do the most important ones first. I've thought about giving myself a certain amount of time to do things like you talked about but then I feel like nothing gets done because I do one thing for a certain amount of time and its not done but time is up and it is time to go to the next thing so nothing gets completely done. So this is my issue with setting time limits. I hope I have explained this well enough so that you understand my predicament. Any thoughts on this?
