A number of others are confronted., including James Mitchell, a serving policeman, who's farm was used as a base for their activities in the 70s and for arms importation from South Africa. in the 1980s.
Legal action by the relatives of their many victims, to find the truth, continues today. In 2018, a film, Collusion ,uncovering the history of British miIitary intelligence' involvement with loyalist paramilitaries and their murderous activities featured on Amazon Prime. In 2019, a film, Unquiet Graves, about the activities of the Glenanne Gang, was released in Belfast.

This 'exposé' actually raises more questions than it seeks to answer. Anne Cadwallader's book does provide some, limited, answers but, I am of opinion those whom needed to answer the difficult questions are, now, largely passed away, Bob Lowrey, Flanagan, Newman et. al. How did the judiciary of the six counties repeatedly let off loyalist murderer's while doing all they could to convict nationalists?

It's a false narrative. Plenty of nationalists got away with murder too. There was definitely collusion in certain cases between security forces and loyalist paramilitaries, and there was definitely people in the security forces that were active in the loyalist paramilitaries as when the troubles kicked off and the security forces went on a big recruitment drive to increase manpower, many of those who joined, came from loyalist communities and joined to fight the IRA. The gardai also colluded with the IRA and helped murderers avoid prosecution so it's not all one sided.

Nothing would surprise me when it comes to the RUC, UDR and British Army in Ulster. I personally experienced their wrath against an innocent Catholic teenager in the province. Of duty soldiers cruised certain pubs in gangs looking for Catholics to target. I was lucky, I walked away with bruises and a bloody lip....and a deep hatred of 'the brits'. I eventually left the province as a direct result of the ongoing civil war. Heartbreaking how my country was torn to shreds. But life goes on, better days are always ahead and the tyrants always fall.

It happened...exactly as I told it. It's not my business if you believe it or not. I was lucky. I didn't grow up in Belfast, I grew up 12 miles down the road in the relative peace of the seaside town of Bangor, the same seaside town where off duty Brits came and drank. It is strange that both the IRA and the loyalits did very little, if nothing at all, to target the chiefs of their enemy organizations. Everybody in South Armagh knew Robin Jackson and where he lived, but no one targeted him in any way, even when he was alone and armed only with a handgun. The same we can say about IRA commanders, whose names and houses were quite well known by people living in those areas.
Interesting observation. I read where the Loyalist and Republican paramilitaries colluded in racketeering and extortion and split the earnings. So, killing each other would have cut into profits. I just cannot recall the source.
