I met Biker Jim’s when he was a street vendor, amazing. El Taco de Mexico, wins westward best of, all the time. James Beard winner. Been going for 30 years, a full on dive. Dante Fe and 7th.
Have to agree with Cherry Tomato, it feels like home. I lived in Park Hill for years and when I come back to Denver from up north I meet my friends there. I love their calamari . Stop by Spinellis to stock up on before heading home. For fancy night- bistro vendome- love the new location sooo much
hey great video is really useful to me im going to Denver in a couple of months of course ill go to dinner in onces of these.. are in nearby locations one each others ? sorry my English dude... triple like for your video
Tavernetta and Sushi Den yes! I also love Barcelona, The Kitchen and uchi. But I’m biased, I have personal connections with their c-level leadership. I’m still watching all your vids to keep tabs on Denver. There’s a possible return down the road!
This was really great! I haven't had Sushi since I moved here and Cholon sounds terrific too---i love eating good food and am not interested in any chain restaurants either so this caught my attention.
Can you give me some of your fav local coffee shops in Denver please. Planning a trip this winter and want to hit up local spots, not just chains like Starbucks. Thank you for this video and for the breakfast video too. I took all of them down for our trip. We will only be in Denver for about 3 days so we will not get to try them all. Any must do/see spot for a winter Trip (late December/ early January time) Also if you have any recommendation for food and coffee in Telluride we plan to go there too. - thank you so much Michelle from Destin, FL
Great list. Everyone has favorites, I would replace Tavernetta with Gusto (same owners as ChoLon) or Jovanina’s Broken Italian. I would add at least one of the Beatbox restaurants, probably El Five. But this a solid list.
Chợ Lớn is a region in Vietnam with many Hoa people, i.e., Vietnamese people of Chinese descent. The "ch" is pronounced a somewhat like and English "t" but with the tongue a bit flatter on the roof of the mouth. The "ơ" is pronounced with the same vowel as the General American English "strut."
I find myself not wanting to eat out so much because I can make East Asian, Italian, French, Indian, etc. at home. Honestly, I only go out for burgers because I am still bad at making those. The hot dog place looks interesting, though.
Cholon is probably originated from District 5 Area in Ho Chi Minh City VietNam. Spelled Chợ Lớn meaning Big Market. I believe it’s pronounced “Ch” as in church. 😊
Great video Sam, what are your favorite steakhouses? Not for the price but for quality, taste, and flavor! Shanhans and Del Frisco were great, Bastien's good too. Let me know!
Thanks! Shanahan’s is probably my all around favorite. Do love Del Frisco’s Double Eagle as well. Quality Italian actually does a really good steak (and most everything else). Personally wasn’t in love with the steaks at Guard and Grace, so I’m in the minority there, and I kind of hate STK, ha! But yeah, I haven’t found anything that beats Shanahan’s all around. Btw if you ever find yourself in Glenwood Springs, do hit up Juicy Lucy’s.
@@eddiebitar8421This one is tough. I used to love the Cherry Cricket’s burger but something has changed the past few years. My go to in town, honestly, is the Good Times double. Highly underrated and cheap! But I have heard Fat Sully’s (yes, the pizza place) burgers are elite. Have not yet confirmed but I plan on it.
Great video! Would you consider doing a video on best Mexican on a budget? My favorite is El Jardin in Commerce City. El Jardin's salsa is incredibly good, even addictive! Also, Senor Ric in Aurora is very good.
Ok so I need to try both of these because I’ve never heard of them! Clearly need to get more well versed in the topic. My favorite budget Mexican that I’ve had is 7 Leguas on Colfax.
You forgot the best seafood restaurant in Colorado “ MARISCOS EL REY” ,Sinaloa style seafood restaurant, they have over 150 dishes on their menu, including sushi , ceviches , aguachiles , fish , octopus , Mexican dishes , and seafood and an incredible cocktail menu , the owner is from Sinaloa , Mexico and living in colorado for over 20 years !!!!!!!!
Great list, Sam! Really miss the intimate horseshoe bar at bistro vendome.. perfect place to have a before dinner cocktail, or just relax and chat with other patrons. upscale/approachable.. like you could be in the middle of Paris.
Tavernrtta is insanely overrated. It’s good, sure but people act like it’s phenomenal. It’s not. Also, Quality Italian is a “chain” is a weak argument. There are two Quality Italian restaurants in the US. Hardly a “chain”
I am a Colorado Native and have visited many restaurants here. My favorites in no particular order 1. Guard and Grace 2. Bistro Vendome 3. Shanahan’s 4. Fogo De Chao 5. Sushi Den or Iziyaka Den 6. Perfect Landing 7. Cherry Creek Grill
Okay honestly what is the deal with Guard and Grace? Everyone loves it but when I went (admittedly only once) the steaks were so salty they were almost inedible. Has anyone else had this experience? Do people just love salt? Was it an off night? Am I taking crazy pills?
@@DenverLivingwithSam My husband and I have been in Denver for almost 3 years. We finally made it to Guard and Grace and were befuddled about the buzz. I'm really enjoying your videos!
Pretty sure everyone from southern colorado (San Luis) visits Denver. This coming from someone that live half his life from southern colorado. I live in Denver now but we always visited when i was young. My family from Southern Colorado still visit regularly.

I’ve lived in Denver, my entire life, and Bistro Vendome has consistently been my favorite since it first opened!!
You have excellent taste.

On your recommendation we went to Cholon that night and really enjoyed ourselves. Thanks for the heads up!
Oh this warms my heart! Thank you, Mark, and I sincerely hope you had a great time
Coming to Denver next week from the east cost. Going try the French Onion Soup Dumplings @ Cholon, thanks so much!
Hell yeah, brother!
Now I have several places to visit, thank you!
Let me know what you think!
Try Pappadeaux and Rodizio Grill Brazilian Steakhouse.
Great informative video with personal local favorites. Thnx a lot. Will try some of these establishments when visiting in the near future 🎉
Heck yeah! Enjoy.
Shells and Sauce! Great food and the nicest staff you will ever meet!
Love that place.
I feel like I can trust your list because I’ve been to the last 2 and they were EXCELLENT! The Bao at Cholon is INCREDIBLE
One of the best things you can eat in this whole city.
How could you not mention the Wolfs Tailor?! Amazing...best in Denver!

I had a rat visit me at bistro vadomme. In Larimer. Love that place!
What'd you get the emmy's for)
I was a full time producer/editor in a past life. They’re regional Emmys, which I always say is like being a state senator.

Yes, I actually love Uchi and Barcelona too. Need to try Uncle! And dude…hurry up and get back here!

This is tremendous intel, thank you! I will be retraining myself to say the hard “Ch.”
Actually, thank you for recommending Travernetta. We went there and it was absolutely the highlight of the trip. 😉
It’s also started by Chef Lon Symensma. So it’s a play on his name.
If you like Italian cuisine, try Venice near Union Station. It’s so good!
Ocean prime was my fave their service is great 😊

@@DenverLivingwithSam for fast food burgers I still love a good Freddy’s. Different style than good times, the flatter griddle fried style but yummy
Nanas Dim Sum is definitely on my list!

No Mexican food sucks
El Jardin is a great place. They're closed on Monday's.
In 1995 i went to Denver and I like to eat in champion restaurant in larmur square
I love Rioja...another Jen Jasinski restaurant!
@ 4:20 … that’s not Tuscany
This came up in my recommended and I planned to hate, but this is very close to my list. Completely agree about Cherry Tomato.
Cheers, brother! Not everyone knows about the greatness of the Tomato.
I was in Denver a couple wks ago and I had the ABSOLUTE BEST Colorado Rack of Lamb @ *801 CHOPHOUSE* ...
A classic for sure. Good happy hour too, if I’m not mistaken.
I'm bummed domo went out of business. Best place for traditional Asian food

Cherry Tomato!!!!!!

I'll take a Mexican hamburger from The Chubby's on 38th any day of the week

We also think guard and grace is severely overrated and really pricey. For all the steak and no pomp we like columbine steak house instead
