I remember in 1983 when I hitch hiked there, with my katundu, to Senga Bay , Malawi , all the way from Cape Town , I paid 1Tambala ( 1 cent ) for a cup of Tambala brand tea with condensed milk. Those were the days of lower population ( 3 million ) and President Banda.
