As a rider of 45 years and growing up learning to use the clutch to the best of its abilities, I hope this clutch less option doesn’t teach riders NOT to use the clutch and forget when coming to a stop. Remember the basics, enjoy the technology!
Anything after say 15 mph on this bike just feels ridiculously smooth and easy to ride. Ride ability factor 10/10. It’s actually scary b/c anyone with 6 months on a Ninja 300 could hop on and have major confidence.
You can hold the throttle and let it rev down slower and downshift clutch less to learn where along the rev band it down shifts smoothly. I generally blip it while downshifting since I understand where along the rev band it down shifts down smoothly, I feel it’s more fun and fast that way.
Where are you located. Is that freeeway off ramp the lambert exit? I was watching the video. And I’m like wait I feel like this is in my back yard. Edit. No wayyyy. I just saw to the end you getting back. I’ve passed that motorcycle shop my entire life. And just searched an auto shift video and watched this one 😂
@@poit444 yea I live off diamond bar blvd. up the hill from that arco. And would take Toner Canyon every single night over the fwy. It’s a lot of fun right before parking it for the night 😂
Yes, definitely, but I felt even more so on the Streetfighter (video from last week). I was a bit more skittish on the Panigale. Smooth, even delivery from the engine makes it nice and easy.
Cool vid.... so when using the quick shifter, do you even have to release the throttle as you shift the gears? As I watch you, it doesn’t seem like you have to.
Not at all. It does like a little rev match and it's really cool because in that half second you can hear all that going on while your wrist doesn't move.
You have to be on the throttle to gear up and you have to be off the throttle to gear down. Or at least that's how it works on my 2021 Ducati Monster 937.
Do not use it below 5000 rpm or u will hit falsenutral .7000 and up .i got 23 v4 80 miles on it i hit false nutral 2 twice. I call the ducati they say shift hard 7000 rpm and up form .cuz on the bike with 80 miles it impossible for forks or gears to be damaged.
Not like a dual clutch. But the Quickshifter ties into the ignition system so it automatically slightly drops the rpm's when you put upward pressure on the shift lever to shift up. And blips the throttle slightly when you press down for downshift. But some bikes apparently only have quickshift-up, not down.
@@deanb6163 Some bikes only have up and not down is because not all motorcycles throttles are fly by wire. Meaning they are cable throttles and the bike can’t auto blip the throttle for you in order to allow for a seamless downshift. Hence why they are called blipper functionality on the kits that support those bikes. You can get mechanical kits so it is possible but a lot more work and trouble than it’s worth honestly!
There are plenty of automatic motorcycle models like Honda’s Africa Twin. The quickshifter is more for racing as the technology utilizes the throttle meaning you can keep it wide open. There’s not many public places to use the V4 QS, but it’s fun to play with on the streets.
@@dieseldavis3930 I don't believe so. The QS device and auto blipper for downshifting maximizes the shifting that you'd be doing without them. It's all done in milliseconds and with precision. The creator of one popular quick shifter model states that a properly set up QS is actually less damaging since with a clutch there is still slight drag inside the gearbox.

Thank you for the video. Picking mine up today and I didn't know how that worked either.
This helps a lot! It's confusing at first
You don't ask, you won't know. Nicely done ;)
Not sure how it felt for you on the V4 but the quick shifter on my Hypermotard 950 feels terrible from 1st to 2nd.

I mean, it felt fine.
Yes mine the same it want it rev really hight before you shift
When you down shift do you let go of the throttle less or you hold the lever lightly ?
No one knows yet.

Hiiii .. which bike do you ride ? ^^
@@topfitnessssss 2017 Triumph Speed Triple S, also Thruxton R 1200
100 percent. It’s easy.
So do you have to release the throttle when using the quick shifter ?
Nope, you can keep it open both up and down
No, you rev it...
So you can downshift without clutch too? So what would the clutch be used for when riding above 20km p/h?
Absolutely nothing, that’s the idea of a quick shifter.

Haha damn sky snakes too. I didn’t think of that until just now and heck yeah there’s a lot.

LOL, that is a ridiculous amount of snakes on the ground
thats auto blipper too huh?
Wait so it's basically like a dual clutch for motorcycles except u need the clutch for starting and stopping? Am I right?

Captain Short Shifter, you really enjoyed the quick shifter I see, it’s for street racing, not for scooting around town.
so why can't they make it full time auto

is it OK to down shift without damaging your gear box? I keep hearing it's hard on the gear box

You’re shifting way to early
Lmao bro said don’t judge 🤣
He prolly just runnin through the gears my man I’m sure he knows he doesn’t have it revved out
thats why they call him captain shortshifter
Question. If the bike has a quick shift up amd down could the front handbrake be modified and move to the left handle bar?
Would be so nice
🤔 I say no because it would stall at starting and stopping since it’s not an automatic transmission.
Very bad idea. QS doesn’t replace the clutch.
Captain Short Shifter strikes again..
How you wouldn't bother using the quick shifter when it's such an evolution in technology ?? That's beyond me ..
I still listen to records, sometimes. Love that quickshifter!
