Definitely cool!! Great Mod, Dyno jet PCV I noticed you can add on. QUESTION could you get quick shifter on your 131? Or is it only for sport bikes? RIDE SAFE
Your how to videos are helpful..Looks like you’re enjoying that mt 10! My mind is made up on that vs the 09 already..I’m too big for the 09..you decide which one to grab yet Block?
I'm so frustrated with the MT-09 group on Facebook. Twice I asked why my bike isn't quick shifting. I've never used quick shift before. Some used 🤣 emojis others told me I had to turn it on in the settings. NOBODY told me I still have to shift the gears with my foot. I was thinking the bike did that automatic as well. Thank you for this video. Now I can FINALLY try out my quick shift.
@patrickgoldenbridge1891 No, at the time I thought quickshift would be like an automatic. I had it turned on but when I would ride it it did not switch gears. Finally I found a UA-cam that explained how quickshift works. You don't use the clutch but you still have to shift the gears. Me being completely new to motorcycles I had no clue. Needless to say, after using it a few times I still prefer shifting with the clutch. It just feels right and it's more enjoyable.
Quick shifters were designed for racing, to allow you to shift without having to lay off the throttle for a quick second. A great addition along with the electrons on the bikes of today. I once had a 5 speed chevy blazer and the clutch went out on it. I rigged the clutch switch so I could crank it up without having the clutch pressed in. I drove that blazer for 5 months with no clutch using speed shifting. The old days way of quick shifting.
Quick shifting is pretty awesome. I've gone one on the MT-09 and it makes a huge difference getting up to speed on the highway. There's no way I could shift that fast with my hands!
Great video! Might i say, Blockhead, that your skill in downshifting with the clutch is absolutely sublime. Youre some kind of engineer? One of the small minority of people that understands. Few people know this. In order for a manual gearbox to move the engagement collars past the dog tooth rise plane, the relative torque direction between the gearwheel pair needs to cross over. Up or down change can still be effected without crossing over, thanks to the Synchro-brakes. When that is done you will have a "thunk" on the gear change. People who fully understand how manual gearbox mechanism works will avoid the thunk by manually crossing over the torque direction and pushing the lever inside the cross-over. So thats when on your down shifts you pull the clutch and the revs drop a bit, then you blip them up, crossing over where the rpm would have been in the departing gear, also rever ready, as the blip crosses over the departing gear rpm you slot the lever into the lower gear.
Long time subscriber, been watching since your 883 days. Just sold my 883 yesterday and am picking up a 2021 Ducati Monster with the quick shifter, this just randomly showed up as suggested! Blockhead FTW!
Damn bro. Was riding my new to me k6 gsxr for the first time today. (Came from a v twin Honda). Was shifting with the clutch my first pull. Brought the wheel up when I grabbed 2nd. Figured out I could quick shift it, but was letting off throttle. Quickly discovered it’s less jerky at high rpm so continued shifting with clutch in the lower rpm’s. But I didn’t know you could stay on the throttle. Will have to try it tomorrow.
It's lots of fun! I saw a Brazilian pilot with a CBR1000RR turbo explaining its build-out and than using quick shifter. Man, that bike is scary by far.... really nice toy
Love the sound of that Yami. I clutchless shift a lot on my ZX6R. Most people trying clutchless shifting back off the throttle too much. It’s a barely perceptible flick off the throttle when you got the technique down. I will say it’s not as fast as an electronic quick shifter though.
Thanks for explaining it sir. It really helps me to understand what quick shifter is. By the way. I'm from Philippines and planning to buy r15 v4. Just sharing😅✌️
Keep motorcycles to what they are. Mechanical maschines and don't make electrical computers out of them. A study once showed that about 80% of roadside breakdowns are of an electrical nature. That's why I ride only the oldies, I can do my own mech. roadside breakdown without having to hookup a Laptop.
New to the channel, Florida? Just realized tonite the dealership ordered my R7 with the quick shifter. Stoked but no idea how to use until now so thanks!
Several companies make quicksHifters for Harley. No more missed shifts and the fastest shift possible for best racing. You need to add one on your 131.
Thanks for the video. At first I was afraid of damaging a gearbox and did not use it. But it seems safe when you use it properly. So this "boom" sound is a normal thing and does not mean an incorrect gear change?
Hello , I got my 1st motorcycle with that Quick shifter. Plase advise, if I slow down and going neutral, and a accidentally skip neutral to 2nd gear, since my shift pattern is 1 down 5 up, Am I going to overshoot or have sudden acceleration, as there is no clutching to managing it?
That's kind of like an early model DCT. My new Honda shifts automatically like a champ, or, I can use the paddle shifters. It's awesome. You have to ride & Review one Block. That bike really "Get's It" though.

Hi, I was Wondering would this Item be Available to be Put on Most Bikes....Is this Something that I can do myself to my Bike... I Have a 1999 Honda VFR800FI INTERCEPTOR...
My 2 bikes have both up snd down quick shifter. Newer bikes more seamless especially with higher rpm’s as it’s for racing. You have less 0-60 and quarter mile times when you must manually pull in the clutch. Auto blipper rev matches when you downshift. Just keep the throttle wide open. Racing motorcross every time you pull in the clutch you lose 20 feet racing for someone not using the clutch. My motorcross bike does not have a quickshifter but I keep the throttle full open when shifting without clutch use. Quickshifter protects you engine to microsecond unload your transmission when shifting.
Love the videos dude! Love the sound of the MT-10! I did have a question about editing, what software are you using, and how do you manage to blur out certain things on screen? Keep up the great content! 🤘😝🤘
my Vespa 125 scooter also has a quick shifter... but the Italians call it an automatic clutch. So, moral of the story is.., who needs a Bagger, or an MT when you can have a Vespa.
Its like comparing a car with manual 6 speed and a Lambo with DCT. You have poorer acceleration manually going thru the gears vs a computer shifter forward with losing forward momentum. That is way manuals car have slower times for automated clutches with paddle shifting. Plus no missed shifts snd engine damage
What do y'all think of motorcycle quick shifters? I'm a fan!
I like the quick shifter! I will eventually add it to the bike, but it was an add on which was slightly annoying.

2021 MT09 comes with a "Quick Shift System". Up & down. I'm excited to have this feature. The 2021 have finally arrived here in So. California
Be great when they have one for the Pan American.
I had no idea what quick shifting was. Your video was super clear about it, no time wasting. Thanks brother.

On my 2023 Ducati Panigale V4S it’s called Quick Shifter Up/Down. Works very smoothly both ways.

Hey Hey, do you have Launch Control with that quick shifter kit? if so, can you please demo :) cheers for the awesome vids
Not a kit. MT10 comes standard with quick shifter. No launch control tho
nice video and nice explanation as usual, thank you and hello from Iraq

another amazing video Blockie!!
After I installed a quick shifter on my cbr1000, I was winning so many street races I quit my day job.
My only question is do you use the clutch to downshift like you normally would without the quickshifter?
So do you only use the clutch for downshifting when having a quick shifter?

When you downshift, can you just hold the clutch in, let off the throttle and shift from 6-1? Do you have to rev match each downshift?
