A reminder that the ocean is beautiful and yet terrifying. A massive shout out to all lifeguards and those who help them in these critical situations. (Please note - some of these situations depict CPR methods that are over 10 years old, check in with your local first aid training centre on the latest resuscitation methods).

Thanks so much! These situations are stressful and you all do a good job of responding promptly. I know some people critique the methods shown here, but the fact is response time is one of the if not the most important factor in someone's survival. It's also very difficult in emergency situations to suddenly let someone who randomly announces themselves take over when you're already engaged in CPR - your entire focus is on the patient, there's chaos going on around you, and you just don't have much time to think, which is why it's often best if people stick to a designated role.
Ya'll have the world watching you, so you've got some harsh critics. But the fact is, if I was drowning and needed to be resuscitated, I'd be forever grateful to anyone who tried their hardest to help me survive. You guys do a wonderful job and there is no doubt much fewer lives are lost because of your hard work.

A few years ago I was at the beach and a man accidentally elbowed me in the head while we were in the water and knocked me out. No one realized what had happened until I had already drowned. Fortunately there were life guards there who saved me with cpr and a defibrillator. I remember a pretty big crowd circled around me when I came to.
I can only speak for myself, of course, but I wasn't embarrassed at the time even though my breasts were out and looking back on it I don't feel embarrassed either. Just happy someone was there to help me.
I'm only writing this because I see a lot of the comments are from people worried about the women in the video's modesty and I want to reassure people that when you have a death or near death experience concerns of modesty and embarrassment tend to go out the window.

Of course, I was thinking the same in how they can make sure none of the bystanders do so but there’s probably no way to completely prevent that situation from occurring…although I’m pretty sure it could make a pretty nice lawsuit for the victim so if anything, I could see it ruining the life of the person who actually took and then posted the pics/vids without her consent, but not the girl herself.

And one day in school, I went to the nurse because my wound was draining and it was about halfway done by then, so I had a gaping hole in the side of my thigh and no bandaid. The nurse looks at me and says, “ Do you wanna ice pack?” And I say, “No thanks, I only need a band aid.” And she says, “Okay, well let’s call your mom and see what she wants to do about that spider bite.” My mom’s a nurse, and we knew it was a bug bite because we were camping and a mosquito got into the tent and bit me, but I squished it. I say, “it’s only an infection and I only need a band aid, ma’am” But she made me call my mother so she could tell the nurse the exact thing I said. #secondgradestories

It's freakin human nature to be curious and concerned about someone who's fighting for their life! And ofc the life guards had to take off her top to conduct the treatment! So obv shes going to be topless infront of 100+ people! It's not rocket science! 🙄🙄

You must have the natural 'want & passion' to do this. I've done this in the hospital setting were we have everything on hand, in a controlled manner. This is way above that. The team work is critical for these people. They knowledge is critical. Yet you do this for the same reason that we do it. To save that life until there is no other option. I just wish there was a rule for you that the public stay right away from you all.

I am CPR certified and you're told to take off people's shirts and bras in order to do cpr properly. And you don't want to use the defibrillator if a woman is wearing a bra with a wire. Trust me if I ever had to administer CPR I wouldnt care about how naked someone is, I'd just want to do my best to help them.

As a first responder it’s amazing to see the training kick in and take over. It’s a reminder to keep training often. Also make sure your training is always in real life situations. What you train is what you will do in emergency situations. Your training and brain will take over so if you do it properly you will be successful.

@atom they should teach that this happens in cpr cases. I was helping at a horrible accident last year. A young woman had a severe head injury, wasn't breathing but still had a pulse. A trained nurse was helping as well and wanted to keep me from doing cpr saying it would be of no use. Situations like this are overwhelming as it is. I wanted to do teamwork on this but since then I realized you can't in such situations. She didn't mean any harm and was in shock herself but we lost time. Just rely on yourself and your training not what people tell you. So I understand if the lifeguards try to keep others away although in this case it wasn't necessary.
