They physically can't spot every single incident ever. They're human beings, not robots. On a busy day, Bondi has 30k people on that beach. It's busy, noisy and hot. There's between 4-8 lifeguards on duty at any one time. They can't watch every single person at all times. I don't consider it a mistake if a member of the public spots something before a lifeguard. They rely on the public being helpful too.
Beach-goers also need to make the lifeguard's job easier by noticing the signs, the flags and listening to the instructions the lifeguards give.
8 lifeguards. 30 thousand people. That means each lifeguard only has to watch 3750 people! Easy!
They have the surf club lifeguards there as well
facts and it's really annoying when people like the girl from clip #2 are so rude and don't appreciate being saved and getting her friend from drowning.
@@mrspooks4557 I think it's understandable, she probably didn't understand the strategy the lifeguard was using and just thought she was being abandoned to drown.

I like how the girl in the green two piece gets mad at the lifeguards for a situation she put herself in. If you can't swim don't go in deep water.
It's definitely a little bit of panic though. That section of the beach isn't that deep, the issue is they were caught in a rip. The feeling of being caught in a rip and getting sucked deeper out even when you're swimming with all your might is very scary. Imagine a lifeguard coming up and helping you, telling him you're not okay, and then he leaves you exactly where you were and you think you're drowning. Most of the lifeguards are good at understanding that it's the adrenaline and stress that make people react like they do. She shouldn't have swam there, but she did and the rip got her.
More like if u can’t swim don’t go in the water
She could swim, she just got caught in a rip.

Mario needs to realize it’s a bigger issue than his inflated ego. His personal ego seems to be more important than saving lives... bad quality for a life guard
This incident did happen in like 2016/17 when he was still in his first year of the job though. I'm sure he learned from it, if he hadn't, he wouldn't still be doing the job today!
@@neko4683 Nah.. He didn't learn anything. He's still big headed.
@@ChocolateMilk.. wdym no he’s not?

People need to realize that was not only in his first year but also 6 years ago. Get over it. He’s learned from his mistake and he’s better now. It was once.
Mario bothers me. The way he doesn't take even a hint of responsibility for his mistake is just annoying. I know that it was a stressful situation, but he could be at least taken some responsibility.
Same, all the other life guards take responsibility for their part (however small or large) in any mistake and he just blames everyone else.
@@katrinawagner6842 ikr
He used ambiguous language on the radio. Saying "here" requires mind reading abilities.
Nah I think the other bloke in the tower is a tool
He took responsibility at the end of the day. It is hard to think about what you did when you are stressed. I understand both of these guys being pissed of
The girls should be thankful the lifeguards were there at all. Even though mistakes were made, they still saved that girls life. Without them, she would be dead.
True. If he wouldnt have held her for the couple of seconds and send her back she would have drowned
It’s shows how they think they’re more important than someone who’s drowning.
So ungrateful
In her situation right out the water, the only thing she knows is that she told him, that she has problems and is not alright and the lifeguard tells her to go on and rescue herself. In that moment everyone who expected help is pissed if you're nit gitting it. Like firefighters asking if your garage on fire is alright, continue to race down the street, just to came back after you managed to kill the fire by yourself.
After seeing the footage and calm down she would propably totally agree with us.
@@ElectricPansies I think in the heat of the moment, people are upset. I don't judge someone (especially when they're not paid or not held responsible for someone else's safety ie. babysitter) for reacting to a stressful situation. Give them a chance to calm down. It's human to have an emotional response during a traumatic experience.
Seeing the lifeguards shouting at each other is like going over to your friends house and seeing the dad yelling at your friend

Mario seriously started laughing when the man on the jet ski didnt know where to go. I wouldve fired him
Little kid ran across the entire beach to call the distracted lifeguards, didnt even get a drive back, what a hero!
On the argument between Singlets and Mario. I'm on Singlets' side for this because Mario is the one who made the mistake because he said 'Here, Here, Here' on the radio 📻 when giving directions to Jake. Lifeguard Jake don't know where "here" is .
Hannah Scovell I heard him point out it was Northside though, sometimes it comes down to habits when someone gives confusing directions like this.

Mario's behavior doesn't sit right with me. When there's a life-death situation, it's not the moment to let your ego get the better of you and start trying to prove you're right and the other guy's wrong. As a lifeguard, you should know how to give clear directions, not just use "here" and assume they know what you mean.
Also, admitting you're wrong and apologizing for the miscommunication, looking at where it went wrong and how to improve, is not that hard. No use in making a huge discussion out of it.
Yes I agree!
Luigi is better (this is not my joke just thought it was funny)
@@yourlocaltrash2922 mistakes do happen, you're right. However, these mistakes were preventable, if Mario had just used proper signalling. Also, mistakes that put lives in danger cannot just be dismissed as "mistakes happen". These people have a job to do, in which mistakes can cost lives. So I think it's only normal people frown upon Mario's behavior. I am not saying he's a bad lifeguard. I'm merely suggesting he put his ego aside, acknowledge his mistakes, and learn from them.
@@yourlocaltrash2922 he was trying. Being a lifeguard is indeed a stressful job. But, as a lifeguard, you shouldn't let frustration get to you, because once again, lives are at stake here.
Also, it just seemed weird to me that everyone except Mario knew how to use the "landmarks" they have as directions, yet Mario was just shouting "here" and "there"
MarieTheAristoBrat they weren’t trained as navy seals, it’s not a 2 year recruiting process, they got the job done with errors, but they can’t be perfect all the time, they aren’t robots, people talking all this shit, haven’t actually done the job, pisses me off since i know from first hand experience how annoying it is when someone perceives your directions wrong
The fact that they were remorseful for not seeing that young lady drowning is why I really enjoy watching this show. They are great lifeguards. Bondi is lucky to have them.

It’s sad to think what would’ve happened if that former life guard wasn’t there at the right place right time cause nobody noticed it and she would’ve still been in the water when they got there
Ok Mario made a mistake, but the mistake wasn't the bad directions, it's the way he dealt with it. You are in a high position to keep that high position there are high standards!!
Who else just randomly started watching these videos and got addicted with them??
Mario is just like my mother. "Can you get my purse?", "Where is it?", *Makes no eye contact, gives no hand signals, is already out the door: "Oh it's over there, there."
Same!!
My mom: can you get my phone?
Me:sure where is it?

“Can you go in there and get my charger?”
“Where at?”
“In there”
Omg IKR it's so irritating!
And then when you can't find it they start yelling and blaming you
“Here, here” could be anywhere why is mario getting pissed for tf .
He’s tired
True. While Mario did call out northside, it's not specific enough because it's a big beach and you can keep going north so you need to narrow it down to get a more specific pinpoint.
Another thing that seems to be the problem is that the lifeguards seem to use the ramps as location markers and Mario is the only one not using that type of communication system. In order for communication to be effective, everyone on a team needs to use the same type of way to communicate because different ways of communicating will cause miscommunication.
english isnt his first language
@@Audiomaker49 Maybe he shouldn’t be at a job where he’s saving peoples lives, ESPECIALLY on the busiest beach in Australia.
He was probably stressed about the situation. It isn't his fault.
I feel this is a job that would greatly benefit from the use of drones to help spot, identify and help lifeguards identify exactly where people are
this are older videos, drones are now for the most parties avalabaile ''
but for most lifeguards its an volunteer job and with those pro drones not everybody can fly with it.
So true a drone operator and they all takes turns to operate it would be great better than just a set of binoculars
At 12:04 when the girl was mad at singlets. That annoyed me because he tried to help her but found out someone was supposedly in trouble further out. Which wasn’t his fault it was just miscommunication. She could have at least said thank you for trying to help like chill
How could you get mad at someone who just saved your life and intended to save another even if you weren’t in the right place after being told to move
She's such an ugly bitch
@@somerandomguywastaken tru
She didn’t know there was a miscommunication between the lifeguards, in her mind she was caught in a rip and was drowning and then she got left behind to maybe die. I think she was really scared, it makes sense.
roflolwtfomg still you shouldn’t get mad at someone who had all Intentions of saving you but told you we needed to go see someone who is in more trouble.
Dominus Providebit but still. She was in the wrong side of the beach and got mad at somebody who is only looking out for her safety which doesn’t make sense
Mario should be fired. He got angry and hot headed because he couldn’t do his job properly and could have risked someone’s life. All he did was blame it on the other lifeguard and continued to say it wasn’t his fault. People like him are the reason people’s life’s are at risk. Because people like him only care about themselves and the fact that they can never be wrong and if they are blamed that they have to argue
it was during new years so it can be overwhelming even if you are a professional which means that sometimes your emotions start to get the better of you and you start stressing. Obviously, it was very unprofessional and someone could've died but at the end of the day, as long as the beef is squashed (which is was) and they are able to continue working effectively, then I don't think that Mario should lose his job
Being fired might be harsh, but a superior should definitely talk to him about his unprofessional behavior. Even in moments of stress, it's this kind of hot-headedness that gets people drowned. Stress is possible in every working environment, but there's a difference between being stressed and not wanting you admit you're wrong.
Sure, judge from your chair and ignore the other times Mario saved people. People make mistakes and arguments happen. To demand to fire someone over this , is ridiculous! He messed up and he learned from it. I’m sure everyone has that moment in their life and in the end they made up. Online fans should cool it, it is Mario’s livelihood you’re talking about.
Hadassah Browne IKR, he wouldn’t admit that he did something wrong.
@@TheFrigidsnow The dure acted like a maniac there. Who gives a shit about live saved when he potentially got someone drowned? He did an aweful job and this shows exactly how he behaves in difficult situations. Can't have people like this in teams responsible for human lives. Is his hot tempered ass on this job worth more than someone who's drowning? Didn't think so.
Mario should be fired. Whether he thought he directed him correctly or not, the lifeguard was confused and had to be directed by someone else, so clearly something went wrong. It could've been put down to a communication error that is a simple mistake he could learn from, but Mario's behaviour proved he cared more about his ego than that person's life in that moment.
The most impressive thing imo is the way they’re able to drive those buggies around all those people without hitting them.
I’m a strong swimmer from CanadA but I think when I visit Bondi Beach someday, and I will... I’ll just dip my feet in the water, build sandcastles, tan and look at the cute lifeguards!
No swimming for me! I’ve watched to much of this show! Lol
Alena So long as you swim between the flags you’ll more than likely be set. Strong swimmers shouldn’t have much trouble as long as you stay between the flags & if a flash rip does occur you need [to first recognise that you’re in a rip & then] to know how to get out of it which is, usually, by swimming parallel to the beach.
Ive done squad swimming my whole life and I’m too scared to even swim in a normal beach.
@@broccolisalad9556 if you're swimming between the flags you really dont have anything to worry about

Mario: HERe HeRe HErE
Also Mario:HES NOT FOLLOWING MY DIRECTIONS
Jake: uhhh OH here he is, get on mate!!
Mario: *stops looking at the water and comes to the tower* HE PISSED ME OFF MATE!!
Heeeya*
Dude these lifeguards are the best, they’re incredible athletes, and so beyond passionate about helping people, you can really tell it’s because they like making a difference and protecting people. Maybe when I retire from research and teaching I’ll be an EMT or something, I would be content spending the rest of my life helping others and giving smiles
I used to work as a lifeguard at the biggest outdoor wave pool/waterpark in my country. Watching this because I miss working during the nice hot summer days. Good times
This happens in every profession. As a retired nurse I missed an order to give blood. I went home (where you think about all you could have done) and got a call from the next shift. The patient survived but I have never forgotten it.
Aw my heart .... the little boy at the end all puffed out from running 'someone is drowning'
I am happy about one thing that they are not scared to show their mistakes on UA-cam
This show somehow above all others makes me want to better myself and get in shape. Just seeing how these people are so active and enjoy running and swimming and WANT to be so fit is so inspiring. I can’t imagine living life like that, hopefully one day.
Do it mate. You can.
When kerbox has to get in the water you know its bad
I genrally love all the lifeguards and just bondi rescue so much but Harrison tho🤭😍🤣x
Evie Clayton he’s my favourite
Regina Papp I love all of them aswell tho x
I know he’s my fav😂
Evie Clayton Harrison is 🥵😍
nahhh jethro 😋😍
Mad props to the volunteers and random citizens who help out!
99% of rescues in Australia are by the volunteers.
Atleast this beach has lifeguards, in Hawaii there was huge huge waves like mountains and no life guards.
Harries is like the human version of Larry the Lobster
Chris P. Bacon oh my god yeah😂
Mario wtf when you say: he’s here, PEOPLE DONT KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN
He's just like my mum when im looking for something that only she knows where it's located lol
Me to my siblings when I wanna annoy them: it’s right there!
I can’t believe that girl in the two piece got so mad at the life guards! Like geese everyone makes mistakes at least your still alive🙄 SHE WAS CRAZY!
I can’t believe they don’t miss more drownings like that last one. The beaches are so crowded all the time and people’s heads are like specks from that distance. It’s really incredible what these people do, and mistakes happen, thank goodness that other former lifeguard guy was there .
"Some mistakes get made, that's alright that's okay"
U can think that ur in love when ur really just in pain
@@palesataule3184 Damn!
That's From A Song! 🙄
Just let them drown if they don’t swim between the flags ✨🧚♂️
Ninjaya ‘In the end it’s better for me, that’s the moral of the story’
Honestly, fire Mario, wouldn't trust him with anything
I always knew Luigi was more trustworthy
Grace & Sadie lmao I love that
Which ones Mario?
I kind of wanna slap him
Ummm that incident was from 2016, he was still new at the time. He has since been with the team for 5 yrs.
All I could think when they were trying to raise Mouse was the tampon add when the guy is using tampons to play “Mousey mousey” with the cat.
Gave me a good laugh! Thanks boys!
This show really shows how many beautiful people there are in humanity.
This show is so nostalgic to me, even though I haven't been watching it for very long. I pretty much grew up watching Bondi Vet, and unfortunately Chris left the show and even more unfortunately, Bondi Vet episodes basically didn’t exist on UA-cam back then - the official Bondi Vet channel only released full episodes around 7 months ago - so I basically had to stop watching. Even then most episodes aren’t even available on UA-cam in the UK without a VPN. Bondi Rescue and Bondi Vet give off very similar vibes, and I absolutely love it lol.
jiggly puff Back in the day I just watched them on Sky lol. But these days, for Bondi Vet I just used a VPN, and I haven’t managed to find many episodes for Bondi Rescue but I’ll keep looking.
Good on that kid he just saved that lady.
Yes
What was mario playing at? Dude?? “Here here” how’s he supposed to know
I just can't stop tearing up in every episode
12:04 Hope they will never step on a beach ever again. How can you be so rude to someone that just saved their life.
He brought her to the swallow and went to "save" someone else. Does she want to be carried onto the beach or what?
@Paddy O'Yakkin her fault for swimming in a place she shouldn't
Paddy O'Yakkin yeah it’s his their job... which he was doing when they were giving home directions to continue out. Are you ok?
Paddy O'Yakkin to be a lifeguard you have to go off of judgement. He thought he heard that there was someone who was in deeper trouble. He judged the situation and judged well as she was able to say afloat as he went to “save” another person. It was just unfortunate that there were miscommunications and there was nobody else that needed saving. (I’m a junior lifeguard)
@Paddy O'Yakkin you need to relax, stop with the heat, and it was her fault for swimming out the flags, she would of drowned if it wasn't for him.
@Paddy O'Yakkin why did I need to know that 😂
everyones talking about mario but we need to give that kid some respect that ran up and basically saves that ladys life
I’ve worked as a water park lifeguard and I know that has nothing on open water guards but every moment, every sheer second anything can happen under your nose and it’s heart dropping when something life threatening happens on your watch.. I had a scare a few years ago in the deep end of the wave pool. A group of younger swimmers in life jackets happily playing along in the buoy line. Following through my surface scan I counted 5 heads all in life jackets. Seconds later while I do my wall scan (you peer over the edge of the walk and look straight down), I see an adrift life jacket hugging the wall, I shot my head right up to the group of younger swimmer and I counted 4 heads in life jackets. I jumped in, emergency stop on the wave system, whistle blaring, submerged rescue. Child came out crying which was a good sign, they were alert and conscious. Maintained vital signs and checked in on the family whenever I got the chance to follow up on symptoms. Anything can happen, it takes just seconds or a quick glance away. My heart was really jumping watching this compilation
That’s why Mario got fired
So you all know
Wait he got fired?
Xander PLaysstrucid I didn’t know he got fired-
Mario wasn’t fired. He did apologise for his actions, he said that he was tired that day and just couldn’t hold in his frustration. Mario is still on the lifeguards
TheLegend 1709, ohh ok. Thanks for explaining!
He is actually fired hoppo fired him because the do a test at the end of every season and he didn’t make it
Girl: what the f was that!
Me: you’re alive. That’s what’s that
Should have dragged her back in the water with that attitude, how ungrateful
Honestly made me mad to see her so ungrateful knowing that the lifeguards are giving their all
“I know people drown in bathtubs.”
-Harries
I’m reading all these comments in their accent lol
Shrek say yes
