Rescuing kids is always one of the scariest things for the boys and girls in blue. Which rescue from the show do you think's been the scariest?
Firdt comment
When the guy from Korea, Ryan Kim was dead for five minutes. That would have been really scary!
Honestly I think the scariest one was the little toddler that was soooo scarey and I bet it was for you guys to 😱❤️👏💪
You guys are life savers.

Life guard: Mate, you cant swim here
Kid: i can.
Life guard: Am i a joke to you?
Breeze lmao
Not gonna lie, kids can be assholes sometimes. Oop-
I think that might've been a language thing in this situation, the child has understood "you can't swim" and he's responded "I do know how to swim" rather than understanding "you can't swim in this specific location"
English is obviously his second language so he's probably only understanding key phrases
@{Delete this} Ohhh, okay. I see that now lmao.
Hate to say it, but I think I see a bit of genetic stupidity maybe going on there. "Oh really? My kid almost died? Oh bummer". And the kid not getting that someone was actually rescuing him there....
That little girl gasp for air, saying “Thankyou”. It melted my heart. And when he told his story about losing his son, my heart broke.

Life guard: saves kid
Kid: ‘thank you..’
*faith in humanity restored*
It warms my heart to see people save eachother for some reason.
I hate to be a mood kill but some times when they don’t say thank you it’s either they can’t speak English that well or they’re in shock.
sorry but your username is sending me-
I love your name and profile pic lol

i almost drowned myself when i was 15 trying to help a classmate who was drowning in the school pool. The worst part of it was when the teachers didnt even care when i told them..... i cant imagine the anger and frustration the lifegard was feeling
i nearly drowned in the school pool also, teacher didnt even attempt to help me, i was never allowed past the shallowest part after that though
It's pretty hard to save someone panicking in any body of water. They can just pull you under with them and it's scary as hell the feeling of losing breath while you're under water it's crazy.
Lifeguards having boards or other stuff to help people float is just so important
@@mastersanada ALL pools in western countries have floatation devices at the pool side
(In my country so do most lakes and beaches at well)
@@Bringon-dw8dx Yep. At public pools they should all have some form of floatation device (I usually saw the rings)
But at beaches or in residential pools it's different. Even worse, in rivers or ponds that people do also swim in there is no help and it is enter at your own risk.
I’ve only once seen a lifeguard have to save someone, but it was kinda crazy. Their reaction time is insane and they had dove into the water before I even noticed the kid were struggling to swim.
Harrison: “what are you doing, you can’t swim here”
Little kid: “Yes I can”

Too right!!
I’m pretty sure the boy thought the lifeguard meant he didn’t know how to seim
@@facebookmumwap7476 I think the kid is just entitled
@@lennaymaboyyy4848 no lol it sounded like he meant that he can swim, from his tone it sounded like he meant that he knew how to swim.
@@lennaymaboyyy4848 No, English is his second language. I'm an English teacher who teaches abroad and this is very common. In class they are not rules use " must" and "can" is for ability. So he's used to " you musn't swim here" rather than " you can't swim here".
A lot of the people who need rescuing are Asians, seems like there is a huge language barrier as they do not seem to understand warning signs or what the lifeguards are saying
Perhaps Bondi could employ some Lifeguards who also speak Manadarin, Cantonese, Indonesian or Korean
that's a great ideaaaa!
Yes or have a translator on speed dial or something
That's such a good idea!!! Would make things a lot faster.
Or maybe have signs with the most common languages in the area.
Like there was a lost young korean boy and the translator they found among tourists can only translate cantonese.

What I don’t understand is why these parents r letting there little kids swim in dangerous water by themselves
It’s just ignorance and lack of knowledge, for a lot of people a beach trip is a once in 10 years thing. Maybe they are even on vacation from another country and it’s a once in a lifetime vacation and it could be the first time with their kids. Many just think of the beauty of the ocean and don’t even consider it’s danger. Then the ignorance and lack of knowledge gets them into situations where they can be at risk of serious injury or death. It’s unfortunate but just a part of being a human being, we all live and we all learn one way or another whether by research and knowledge of safety protocols before entering the water or by nearly drowning.
I wouldnt let my child swim in open waters its Too Much one problem boom gone...
This beach is mainly full of tourist. There are better beaches that locals go to.
Well it depends on the context of why they are in that area (obviously)
Shana Chan last time I came to the beach I wanted to swim Bc I know how but then I got a little scared Bc there’s no ending to the beach
It’s so sad how life guards don’t get recognized as often as they should
most people recognize lifeguards as party poopers at a pool
I think we should say -saltwater- lifeguards if that's even a thing bc all the little pool lifeguards I know are assholes.
They deserve a lot of credit and recognise from what they do, they actually do a lot of work. It is sad that they don't get a lot of credit and recognise from what they do
No. People don’t listen most of the time
Right👏👏♥️

I'm just surprised of how this parents left their kids alone in the water, my father would always stay right behind me when we were in the water, even tho I can swim and take care of myself he would never let me by myself in the water at a beach, this is just surprising and not in a good way
Just shows how some people shouldn’t be allowed to have kids.
Watching this gave me so much anxiety 😭 some of these could’ve been prevented if a parent was near. It’s like they treat this like local pool
Honestly if I had little kids I'd be the classic buzzkill mom and not let them within ten feet of that shoreline. That beach is a brutal place, I would drown in a minute if I were swept out, and I'm a good swimmer. This is some scary shit
At this point, they should hire some translators or bilingual lifeguards for the tourists
Edit: especially for that dad that was just taking pictures on the shore. He won't understand anything unless someone yells at him and makes sure he understands that he nearly lost his son
Problem is, that would get hellishly expensive for the Aussies that would have to pay for it, and they're already paying out for the lifeguards and all their kit when most of the rescues are tourists. They could probably carry a sheet on the rhinos where a basic phrase is translated into multiple languages (something like "the area the lifeguard is telling you not to swim in is dangerous and could cause you to drown. Please swim between the flags and stay away from areas with a yellow danger sign").
That said, though, people need to take responsibility for themselves. It's not difficult to look up places online in your native language. Also, when I visit a country where I don't speak the language, I look up details about where I'm going, find out what signs mean, and take a translation aid with me. And their danger signs are pretty universal. It's a picture of a swimmer with a cross through it.
Besides, that kid knew exactly what he was being told... He was a brat and answered back, rather than listen.
i feel like pretty much everyone knows what "dangerous" and "don't swim here" and "die" mean since those are very basic english words...i think that guy is just an idiot
@@adeliaforsteri3683 actually no coming from a fully chinese family....my grandparents with only a primary level education wouldnt.
Theres so many languages and people come from all over the world.
It wouldn't even matter tbh. Look at that little boy who said he was swimming and how unbothered the dad was. They would just ignore anything you told them.
The Chinese kid and dad made me so angry. The kid didnt give af
Edit: I am aware of a language barrier here but nor the child or the father showed any gratification through speaking or their body language.
Also, I have been called racist for saying they are Chinese. This is a pretty educated assumption as they are speaking mandarin
More like the language barrier. U don’t know how hard for ppl to understand the second language
when the lifeguard said "you can't swim here" the kid thought he was saying that he didn't know how to swim so he responded "I can" because he was replying thst he knows how to swim, not that he can't swim in that area
@@Lsy5 may be true but the father didn't even thank the lifeguard and even with the language barrier he knew what happened
The dad is to blame the kid probably doesn’t know the danger he’s in. He’s only 9
The kid probably didn’t process Wht had just happened or didn’t recognise the severity of the situation

As someone who had almost drowned as a kid it's very uplifting to see these men and women hard at work. I was swimming in the shallows but the lake I was in had a drop off I didn't know about. Once I stepped over the drop off I struggled to stay afloat for 2 minutes before I started sinking. I just remember seeing seaweed and my own air bubbles before being pulled up and dragged to shore. I was only about 4 or 5 at the time so I hope to god I thanked whoever it was that saved me. I am forever grateful to the person who spotted me and pulled me out of the water because I was so close to dying that day. It only takes a moment.
I'm from America and I live on the northeast coast and Bondi lifeguards I just wanted to say you are much more skilled than any of the lifeguards at any of the beaches in the northeast coast state that I live in. You are heroes as far as I'm concerned.
When I was 21 I became a junior camp counselor at a children's day camp that was on a lake and I was a certified lifeguard for the camp as well, but when I was a child I almost drown because I got stuck in a rip at a beach near where I live when I was 12 years old and the lifeguard wouldn't come to save me he left me out there and luckily even though I was 12 I was a very strong swimmer and I eventually got myself out of the rip some how but it took me a long time and I got very tired and I was pretty far out from shore and I had to swim all the way back to shore.
After I got out of the rip and when I got back to shore I told the lifeguard, I was yelling for help and waving my arms and I was stuck in a rip and couldn't get back to shore and I asked him why the only thing he did was whistle for me to come back in and I asked why he never came out to help me and he said that if he came out he would get stuck in the rip too and he wouldn't be able to help me and I said what about the small boat you have with the oars?
He told me he couldn't take out the boat because he was afraid that he would hit me with it then, I said what about the life board? (they didn't have jet skis) and he said that he would still get stuck in the rip if he used the board and he said he knew I was in trouble but that I didn't have to worry because he was closely motioning me from shore and if he felt like it was needed he would call the coast guard to come and get me.
I was very angry when he told me that because if I couldn't swim I would have drown there's no doubt about it because the rip was strong and the coast guard wouldn't have gotten to me in time.
Because those lifeguards at that beach aren't properly trained is the reason why other people have drown in rips at that beach in the past as well, including a developmentally challenged child which was very very sad.
They should have been properly trained like Bondi lifeguards because these deaths wouldn't have happened if they were as well trained as Bondi beach's lifeguards. Keep up the good work guys!!

the son translated to him that he almost drowned tho and the dad was like smiling and didn’t care
The way I don’t know his race👁👄👁
Isn’t it ridiculous.
A lot of them are like that. Here in the Philippines, I live by the beach and work as a dive master. So many Chinese tourists coming and 90% of the time, they're the one who gets in trouble with swimming or drowning as most of them don't know how to swim. Even if you tell them not to go to certain areas wether in English or in their own language, they will still go there.
These lifeguards are truly amazing people. I couldn't imagine doing what they do every day. Hearing Terry's story about losing his son broke my heart

I started tearing up at 8:40 that poor little girl. “Thank you.” That’s all I would’ve needed
It’s crazy how people are right next to someone drowning and do nothing
People who are drowning don’t splash around calling for help, so most people don’t realize.
It can be really hard to notice someone in the ocean especially when they’re under and you yourself are only a head above water.
It can also be very dangerous to try and save someone, when someone is drowning they are panicking, so they cling and grapple and pull you down, life guards are specifically trained to be Ablr to deal with this.

I’m a 10 year old child and strangely, I like watching kids get in danger but then saved, because it tells me that at the beach, there are people there to help you in scary situations! It makes me feel much more safe! And now I’m never going deep with my dad again!
There aren’t always people watching. Be careful any time you get into the water. It can be much more dangerous than you expect. Nature is powerful, it has nothing to do with your skill. Stay alert and aware. Also life jackets are not silly, they can save you for real.
You all are my hero’s! Many moons ago I too was a lifeguard at a beach on Maui. The training was intense and you can’t save everyone! The wee ones are the worst losses. Back in the early 70’s we didn’t have the equipment they have now, however time and effort is everything. Thank God for the help of our fellow surfers as well! I’m 70 now but watching y’all takes me back to the heart and soul that you marvelous lifeguards give of yourselves everyday! Mahalo a much Aloha🙏🌺😀
I feel so bad for that man that lost his son, no parent should have to bury their child
Word hits deep
Jenny's Animations I know I cried so hard 🥺
Which rescue was it?
@@flighttime5534 The one with the little girl
FlightTime it wasnt a resuce they talked about it he was trapped
I feel like the kids know that they are saved, but then adults and tourist just walk away after they are being saved?! Like what? EDIT: Wow so many likes, this is my first top comment!
They are embarrased.
Its most likely the language barrier
Most of these kids being rescued are asian tourists 🤦🏼♀️
Well, not the Asian kid in this video!
@@soren085 saying thank you doenst take much
When he said "I lost my son" my eyes started tearing🥺
with the young girl, seeing how much her brother was caring for her was so wholesome
I remember I was surfing on a shelf and I had this bad feeling about the rip and i turned around to see a young boy begging for life. I paddled over to him and right when i got close he slipped under the waves. I knew in that moment I had to risk my life for this poor kid, I ripped my leggy off and ditched the board and swam to the bottom and i found him out of luck. If I been 2 seconds late he would have drowned. I got him to the beach just find out that his mother was undergoing CPR from the same situation. She lived. Most surreal moment in my life. I cant stress enough for people to read the flags.
nice. it's very dificult, when you are in the water, to see someone who need help.
Holy cow!! Well done Jack hall!!!!!!!!
Jack Hall you are a hero
Omg! Good job mate
That’s so nice
I swear Harrison has the world’s best eyesight

My Boi Arsenal Torillo haha lol can’t tell if you are joking or not
I swear means that I am sure
I feel for him so much, I lost my daughter at a young age and that stays with you. No one should have to lose a child. I really feel for him. That got me.
I’m so glad people like this are here. If we didn’t have lifeguards my mom would have been dead before I was born. When she was younger she went with her class somewhere. A girl fell in the water and my mom wanted to save her. She jumped in but not so long after she realized she couldn’t swim either. A lifeguard or teacher, I’m not sure jumped in and saved them both in time. I am deeply thankful for that person. Lifeguards should be appreciated more.
Bro when he started talking about his son that passed away I almost cried
@Jaxon Doggo his son
kaitland oneill I think they meant the lifeguard
@@Kat_M557 thanks

The young girl who still had the time to say "thank you" to Terry after almost dyeing made my heart swell up with joy and for Terry, if he had not gotten that girl he would have been heartbroken because it would remind him of this boy.
💕RIP Terrys Son💕
Honestly if my child was ever saved from drowning or dying I'd be hugging and crying (out of happiness) at the saver.
When he started talking about loosing his son then he started crying I couldn’t hold it in
Tess Lissette : yeah same 😭😭😭😭😢
Yeah me to
Same here .... So sad ..
I just started crying for like 10 mins about him talkin bout his son n how he died😔🤧
So sad
The little boy in number three looked terrified. Poor thing.
Lily Somerset he did, with all the adrenaline, he didn’t feel him getting pull up by his hair
He also looked too young to be swimming in the ocean without aids, but maybe he's older than he looks?
Heather Knibbs yea. If he really is that young, that that’s some irresponsible parenting.
The way the lifeguard picked him up when they were out of the water is so cute
Ye
the boy that fell off the sand thing, he legit looked traumatized. I feel so bad for him.
the way she said " thank you" made my heart just glow it was so adorable
"Mate you can't swim here"
"yes I can!"
"Okay"

These lifeguards seriously are heroes. I know it takes seconds for kids to run off, I have one myself, but my eyes are always on him so if he does, I know where he is, always. Especially at the beach! The fact the lifeguards blame themselves, when it starts with the parents.
How do they get such talented devoted and skilled guys as lifeguards?? bondi beach public are so lucky 😫😭 this show is too wholesome
That little kid that Harrison was dealing with sure was annoying . Well done
Emily Stanway language barrier. He doesn’t know any better. The dad didn’t care
@MZ - 06GS - Mountain Ash MS (1421) Exactly, that's what most Asian parents would do. The person who wrote this comment probably doesn't know that.
200th likerrrrr
You are such a idiot🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
MZ - 06GS - Mountain Ash MS (1421) I agree I’m also Chinese and the dad said “I told you not to go there” and the kid said he said he knew but thought he could swim back.
Oh my god, that little girl in the aqua swimsuit as soon as she's sitting on the board and catches her breath, her first words are thank you. I felt that. You say and hear thank you so often during your day but I really felt that one. She was all alone, what a guy, she was so lucky that he saw her. Thank you.
He scooped up that Kid like a Kitten ! Fricking impressive!
Poor little man, the fear on his face. Reminds me of my grandson. Thanks for saving people.
“What are you doing here?”
“I am swimming”
I mean he’s technically not wrong.
He wasn't doing it very good tho.
He wouldn’t have been in a bit
Lmao
If he was swimming he wouldn’t have been rescued, he was drowning and got saved
@@kendawyatt673 have to correct everyone right?

Same awwww❤️❤️❤️
When he was talking about his child that died. My heart broke. I could hear the pain in his voice, may he rest in piece 💔
“At the end of the day I just want them to go home.” Heroes every last one of em. God bless every lifeguard. Give every one of em an ounce of strength to save those that need saving.
Being a lifeguard must be difficult. I don’t know how they notice if a child is drowning or just playing around. I’m sure there is many times where it was just a false alarm.
Yeah when i was lil i used to jump up and down to stay aflot (in a pool i would breath go underwater, touch the floor and jump back up) and people would think im drownin lol
Giovanna XD SAME
That might be confusing
Giovanna XD same I used to do that alot
I'm a lifeguard (not at a beach, thank god), but 9/10 times anyone pulls a kid out of the water, it was a false alarm.
“I lost my son” That broke my heart, I hope he rests easy.
same. my heart legit stopped when he said that one line
Sooo sorry for y’all I lost my twins
Hey,, i am a fishery student and we are learning about this. It is really hard but so important to learn. Thank you lifeguards. You are amazing
The amount of tears that I got from "I lost my son". My heart broke.
Who in their right mind would leave their kid alone. And there are life jackets kids can wear.
Zombie Queen ikr I know children can just drift out and it can happen extremely quick but they should think of putting arm bands or a life jacket especially in Australia where they’re can also be strong sea creatures and heavy currents.
well some parents aren't looking close enough.. I mean it is a pretty big beach with a lot of people.. but no excuses
Zombie Queen You’ll float away if you put on a life jacket if you get caught in a rip current.
When I was like idk 8 my dad would not even let me go in the water on my own even if he was watching me and was not even up to my knees
BIG BIG BIG JILL not all kids need them
That girl in sky blue swimsuit that instantly said "thank you". She was raised great, she have manners and a good child. 💙 Kiyoooot~~~
That wa super cute. The mom even said thank you,, usually parent don't care.. but in the other kids defense if I was that close to drowning I'm not sure I could think straight enough to say thank you, I'd be to busy crying and catching my breath lol
So very sweet.. kindness is free to give every day... An she said the most special of thank you's... I love these guys...
By a reckless parent.
You are joking aren't you??
What wld you have said if she'd drowned????
@@corallester5808 I mean it's more the fact that she said it as soon as she could, she could hardly even breathe before she thanked him
