- CSX Train With No Air Conditioning But Has A Caboose! Listen To The Caboose Whistle! Filmed Under Bridge With Road Closed, Left Just In Time To Avoid Conflict. Norfolk Southern train on CSX tracks and we see the local switching train with platform caboose 3 times. These trains are in Hamilton, Ohio on the ex Baltimore And Ohio Railroad Toledo Sub. CSX does directional running with Norfolk Southern so you will see NS and CSX trains.
The first train is a local switcher with a caboose used as a shoving platform. The whistle is pretty cool. Notice both locomotives are GP40s and the crew has the door open since there is no air conditioning.
Next I go to a new spot for me. This is an area under a bridge. Homeless people stay here which I discovered. I filmed a couple of trains going under the bridge. There was a nearby road closure due to maintenance and cars were going under the bridge to make a short cut. However, they discovered that there was a big ditch to cross and all but one truck turned around and went the way they came. The 4 wheel truck made it through. I filmed the same train with the caboose and I filmed a CSX manifest that had only one locomotive pulling it. We also see a closeup of the rail with some old dates on it. Right after I filmed the rail I was leaving and a homeless guy showed up. He accused me of following him. I told him I was not following him and he acted like he was going to attack me. I decided to move along since I wasn't getting good vibes from him. He was a little bit negative. Take notes not to film under this bridge.
Then I went to an awesome railroad crossing in town next to the abandoned paper mills. The local switcher train with the caboose passed me again. Apparently they picked up some cars when they stopped near the bridge. I don't know where the cars came from because I never saw any on the sidings. They must have gone a long way to get them after they cut the locomotives off the train.
We also got a Norfolk Southern intermodal train and a CSX intermodal train. I'm glad to see the caboose because a few of them that I have filmed are now gone. There are not many left in the Cincinnati and Hamilton areas.
Filmed Thursday, June 1, 2023 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

Hey JawTooth!
Love your videos!
Wanted to let you know the Illinois Railway Museum is a place you need to get to. You will love it.
On next Saturday July 1st the museum will be running 70 (yes, 70) trolley and electric interurbans in celebration of the museum’s 70 year anniversary! Could be an epic video.
😁👍
BUENAS TARDES GRACIAS JAW.
Merci beaucoup pour cette vidéo et très bon week-end ! 🖐🖐
Merci à toi 👍😊
@@JawTooth 👍🙏🙏🙏
Amazing video my friend! Greetings from Brasil 🇧🇷
Thank you very much!😊
Thanks for the video, JT !
Cool, rare 4-digit sequence on that CSX locomotive under the bridge.
Every four-digit number is as rare as every other.
@@beeble2003 You miss my point - the S E Q U E N C E
Good video today JT! Thanks 👍. 😊😊😊
Hello Gary, how are you doing today.
I agree that is cool to see almost 100 year old track being used !
Puppies can be so much fun but they can also be so aggravating. Dara puppy you got to love them.
Sound like some heavy loads!
All the trains kept moving probably since that was the longest daylight hours of the year. Definitely got a kick out of the local with some back-and-forth and change out the cars. As for the little one Loki one can almost hear Brandy and Chessie say "Son. Ah say Son. It's too hot to be playing and no biting remember you're still low seniority"
Outstanding! Thanks JT. God bless
My pleasure!😊
Today I gave a honk salute to a local train about a mile long and the driver honked his train horn back and waved at me.
Awesome 😊
Impressive that only one engine on the 2nd train.
Another productive day in Hamilton.
UN ABRAZO DESDE URUGUAY.
Gracias y saludos😊
Too cool as a rule when you capture fun-loving conductors doin' fun lovin' stuff, Señor Jaws. Ya gotta be alert to bring us that action... and heaven knows in these troubled times we need more lerts. Ya da MAN !!! Gracias por tu video. RT sends, Puebla, México...
You got that right!😊🎉
That Caboose is impressive
Great job JawTooth 👍🚂🚃
Many thanks!😊
Carnegie steel was rolled in Homestead a suburb of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Andrew Carnegie what a great man, a philanthropist who gave Millions for Libraries and charities in his time.
Awesome video keep up with a great work and be safe out there 👍 😀
Thanks, you too!😊
That's really impressive that they are still using rail that's 96 years old. 😮😮😊
Impressive
Nice horn salute from the local. Glad he didn't do that while you were filming under the bridge. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Caboose that is really cool to see one in action !
They need to bring back the caboose just to indicate the end of train
That's what Fred is for! 😮
Wow, one engine for that whole train 😮
That's the South Hamilton overpass, where the ditch is that is where the former South Hamilton Crossing was. Maybe next time film on top of the bridge too. Looking to the south on the right that was the former Pit Yard, and looking north on the right side of the tracks just past the billboard was the old site of the engine house, turntable, and coaling tower.
Very cool 🚂🚂🚂🚆🚂🚂🚂🚂 love the caboose's and love your dogs and cat
Great catches JT. Interesting area and short trains are cool too. Thanks.
Great vid, JT. For the record, I despise taggers!
Enjoyed it
Another cool video JT. Loved the caboose. And your new addition is very playful.
Hey Jaw Tooth, more great trains on the
tracks and i really enjoy watching them
and especially in the areas where you live
in Ohio and Kentucky until your next video
Thank You Jaw Tooth.🤠

The stack train had to have had 212 axels. 3 locomotives & 50 cars equal 212 axels
Axle count on well cars is useless to determine how many cars in a train. The articulated ones come in groups of 3 and 5 units. A single unit has the same number of axles as a standard car, but the 3 unit cars have only 8 axles whilst the 5 units have 12 rather than 20.
The more engines they have pulling the longer the Train
Yay! A caboose - and it's on a local so we get to see it three times! And a couple of very nice stack trains as well - didn't see and 5-car train sets though :) It was a good idea to get away from the guy with the backpack - stay safe!
Five-unit articulated sets are almost always for 20' and 40' containers that are used internationally. 53' containers are strictly domestic and those ride on single or three-piece articulated cars.
@@RailRide I knew it had something to do with size of the container - thank you!
Awesome a caboose.
Awesome Video
👍🌲🇮🇳🌲👍
Nice video of train action in the Hamilton, Ohio area on 1 June 2023, Jaw Tooth! That bridge looks like it could be a wonderful place to make videos. During the summer months it would provide some shade while you were watching a train go past or waiting for the next train. However, you do not need the hassle of someone bothering you. I noticed that when you were at the former paper plants in Hamilton, Ohio that you were on the opposite side of the street that you usually view the trains at that location.
Excellent video JT!!!
Thanks!😊
@@JawTooth You're welcome!!
Yeah, you don’t see a caboose anymore these days.
Nowadays bare-bones cabooses are relegated to locals that have to run significant distances in reverse. Railroads call them "shoving platforms" now.
love your videos
I like when you put your animals in at the end
I know chessie who are the other dogs ???
Tim in Toronto
Loki and Sophie
LOKI is the small firkid!!
Triple cars have 8 axles....plus the 18 for the 3 locos....
Hamilton cool very cool caboose great catch great video thanks Jaw tooth
Great video JT. Cool catch of the transfer Caboose and that interesting view under the bridge.
Thank you very much!😊
Wonderful good video!
I wish you a nice weekend 👍🙂
Thank you! You too!😊
The Milwaukee Road had a fleet of home built transfer crummies but no bay windows or roof overhangs. The first ones were built on 36' boxcar frames and looked all out of proportion for the size of the little shack on them. Later ones had purpose built 20' frames. Every scoot and patrol had them. Excellent video with great commentary, enjoyed it much. Thanks man!
Every major terminal had them and even some smaller places like Green Bay and Madison would occasionally get one. Now I think there's only 2 preserved and that's it
ONE ENGINE....PULLING ALL THOSE AUTO RACKS.....DAMN.
😅a lot of mideum long trains, coool.😂have a nice weekend with the familie. greetz:🍐Peer.🍻
Great catch on both! The NS Intermodal looks to be all Doublestacked 53s! All trucking Companies even CREngland! Great Catch! I thought well cars only went to 40 feet now I know different thank you for this share!
Great catch? Lol
Grand Blvd bridge over the CSX train tracks in Hamiton, OH.
Thanks for the video today. Interesting as always. Enjoy the weekend, and see you on the next! 😊
With 2 engines on the local Y101 wonder why not have 1 engine on each end, or put them leading. You were on Zimmerman Ave. @ Williams Ave. (I used to live on Williams). Next time look in the street you can still see the former tracks in the middle of the street on Williams the corner house way a freight house i believe.
I love that caboose
Carnegie Steel (you had right renunciation) was a part of US Steel. It was originally Carnegie Steel founded by Andrew Carnegie about 1870 and sold to US Steel in 1916. Don’t know why USS kept Carnegie name.
Amazing videos Jaw tooth keep up the good work
Nice catch Jaw tooth I hope you enjoy your time. You should railfan up here in Michigan sometime lol
Stay safe, lots of crazy, angry people out there.
Nice catches. Indy here is CSX territory. We do t see any norfolk southern unless it’s up around Ft. Wayne area.
Do you see LIRC power around Avon Yard?
@@dsmith9964 not recently
Gotta like the trains bell to.😊
Where is the black cat. I like seeing her playing with the dogs.. TY
I enjoyed that video👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it😊
Cool caboose
Cool video from Jaw Tooth. Good idea to get away from that guy with the backpack. Sounds like he has some mental issues. Stay safe and have a nice day😊🌈
hello jaw it's is randy and i like yours video is cool thanks jaw friends randy
Good video Jawtooth
Now you got me hooked... i want to see if you can get over the ditch where the cars are getting turned around. lol
a tank car of acrylonitrile, a monomer used in making plastics (polymers). (i once took a course in plastics materials science.) haven't seen one of those before. couldn't read many of the other ones.
I am very surprised that that second train did not have a DPU!
Love this channel! 😊💫
Thank you so much!😊
Awesome catches and great video jaw tooth
Do your dogs ever get to go on road trips with you or just locally? Just wondering. 😊
I knew it, that's right it finally happen.....Jaw Tooth's Podcast has finally gone to the D O G'S Please put the end of your podcast first, so we can enjoy the dogs first. The people have spoken!! 🐶🐕
With the brake man on the right side of the caboose would the engineer be in the engine facing the direction of travel...
I love it! And that caboose seems to be in decent condition!
Due to special cars and diesels. Or it could be a mistake.
Didn't even know they still had train caboose's 😮
Another solid video. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I like train videos on UA-cam jawtooth 👍
Did you catch the rare face of CSX 6900?? Old School Chessie !!
The puppy is the new star of the show. Since he showed up, I watch to the end 😅
So, with the articulated cars, the ones that have three sections only have eight axles, whereas three separate cars would have a total of twelve axles, so the number of axles is significantly reduced
Good Morning Jaw Tooth.
Very cool video
Nice
Nice video Brian!
Boy, one engine pulling 88 cars. Maybe a record.
Great Video.
Hey Brian. Good Morning to you and all the JT crew
Good morning Jon
@@charlottecunningham2141 Hey Charlotte.. Hope all is well with you.
Enjoy the weekend! 😀
The caboose was cool. And it sounded pretty cool under the bridge too. That train was kind of long not to have a DPU, e
This seems like a good place to film, nice and shady and you are protected if it rains, you sure can find some nice places JT. That old steel mill is where you use to catch those runners. Great video👍👍
Thanks 👍😊
Checkout 4401. Looks like EX- READING. Small fuel tank, rain gutters.
Nice Video
Believe it or not, but the horn signal the engineer uses: 2 long, 1 short, and 1 long is Morse code letter "q".
Locomotive 6900 is an old Chessie System. You can see the logo on the front by the coil car
That north folk dour herb double stacks was long . When we were little my brother and I would yellow out caboose like you yell
Out dpu. That was in the 70s.
sHE WAS ON THE LAST 20 PLUS SECONDS ODF THE VIDEO. TY
Stop following me! Ha, Ha, sorry. Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
nice one/when you going up to see Wide world of trains
I finally found a caboose in the Wyoming Michigan train yard but it is unused and welded doors so you can't get inside so I but my camera into the window and got a couple pictures of different seats.
87 cars pulled by one engine. Pretty impressive.
I know, right?😊
Not sure if those were empties but, even loaded, an autorack is only about half the weight of a loaded grain car.
Hey man love your videos im out most days doing the same
