You were out filming trains the same time as me. When everyone else is in the house staying away from the winter weather we are out filming trains. Lol
Jaw Tooth your always out in this crap, stay safe brother!! Unfortunately I drive my Big Truck in this crap hauling auto parts from Anderson Indiana to Huntsville Alabama everyday or I would be hibernating!!!
While watching Wide World of Trains and JTs videos I can watch Florida East Coast roll past the rear of my property. I got trains all day. Snow where you guys are and sun here. Stay safe.
I was out delivering meds in a low-slung work car on that Thursday. Got 'beached' on snowdrifts twice. The wind just made the snow worse. Your video says it all. Hibernation would be a great idea! And we had 1/2 in. ice under it all! I was so happy to see Friday arrive!
Even though I'm catching this a year and four month later, I'm thanking god I live in Phoenix where it's sunny and 70! Thanks for the sacrifices you are making while getting these great videos,
Absolutely, I personally appreciate our conductors, train operators and our truckers. They are who make America move and make sure we ALL have what we need. I thank all of you who are working in transportation!! ♥
WWoT, want to say that I and probably a lot of others really appreciate your devotion to bringing us some really great train videos. Despite having to put up with some really lousy weather, especially in the last couple of days. “Thank You “ for your devotion and some great videos. May God’s blessing be on you and your family.
I remember scenes of driving in snow conditions like this from my younger days. Thank you for the memory. I always carried chains, even with 4-wheel drive. I don't go out in the snow at 82 years old. My Mustang is afraid of getting stuck, even with chains. I wait for a friend with a snowthrower or the rain to follow. Stay warm and dry.
Really appreciate you taking this video in these conditions, so those of us that do see trains running in snow storms can see what it's like. Thank you so much. Please stay safe.
Watching from France. I'm a fan of trains. I travelled to many European countries by this means of trans portation. I enjoyed each time seeing the country side, visiting towns and cities. In my teenage years in Nigeria, I sometimes go to north of Lagos, former capital of my country to see diesel locomotives bought by Nigeria Railways from Canada. Here in Europe, I still do train watching, especially the goods/logistics bulk carriers. North American : US / Canadian locomotives horns are wonderful synphony to hear. Watching vidéos when they're cruising through the canyons, tunnels, Valleys, thé wilde pin trees and snow. I appreciate, well done.
Just love watching trains in the snow. Caught a NS with a DPU yesterday morning when I was cleaning off my car from the snow and ice storm. DPU Alright! Thanks for getting out in the snow to get these videos for us.
I moved from that crap weather after I got out of the Military in 1972. Grew up in Northern Illinois and when I got out I moved to Florida and never looked back. 8 months of winter and 4 months of spring/summer/ fall combined don't cut it my friend. I do envy the amount of Rail traffic you see there.
Wide World of Trains, I grew up in Georgia and our home sat next to a spur line track that ran to the cotton mills. I loved to sit with my dog and watch the trains go by and try to figure out where they were bringing the cotton from each time. Your videos take me home and I can hear my dad and mom talking about working in the mills and unloading the cars on the loading dock. Watching your videos brings back my brother home from the Army, Mom making lemonade and Daddy getting the grill ready. My dog and I running around the yard while waving at the crew on the train. Thanks for the memories.
This will be my life, for CSX. I will start my Freight Conductor training next month. I love trains. The weather, whether cold or hot don’t bother me. When you love something, it doesn’t matter the conditions. It’s the same where I used to work in the Merchant Marine, with Tugboats, Coastal Tankers and Barges. This would be home for me. Love the content. Keep it coming!
Miss the snow but not Buffalo! Grew up with a set of tracks next to my home in Lackawanna and have fond memories of train hopping as a kid. Grand dad was a engineer for Erie RR.
Watching these videos just reminds me of why I moved from IL down to the Gulf Coast of Mississippi after I retired. I dont have to deal with weather like this anymore.....LOL
LoL cold out side got lots of that snow back of my truck trying sell all snow in my truck 1995 beautiful and be safe from Indiana Terry Graham hopefully we get some better day love your train videos All good on UA-camr BPU all right
As you were saying, without them, there would be even more empty shelves and it's clearly the truckers have more than they can handle. We need to build more rail's. So many have been removed or abandoned. It sure would give the truckers a needed break and keep our roads, as bad as some are, a break too.
I am not a train spotter. Never have been and it never interested me before. This video was strangely cathartic. I like it. I'm not even sure WHY I like it, but I like it.
Born and raised in the South. Our snow is different for two reasons. One, it is usually wet and slick. Two, we get snow infrequently and with transfers from further south with no snow experience they do not have a clue. FYI, many of the snow wrecks often have NY tags. Southern snow is just different.
Most of New York's population doesn't get a lot of snow. Where I live is the exception the Buffalo area which is famous for snowfall especially lake effect snow
I was going to be satisfied with TWO videos, and then YT offered me another, with a Buffalo Blizzard, how could I quit then? I grew up in Buffalo NY, and am quite familiar with blizzard conditions and heavy snow. Watching the snow and wind through your windshield brought back old, old memories! Bless you, out in the ugly weather to capture the beautiful trains in video! Thank you, thank you.
This was a good snowy weather video. Better than most I've seen. Thanks for going to all the trouble and providing the play by play! I've had some similar experiences many years ago but never attempted to video. This brings back the memories. Thanks for that.
I was born & raised in Geneseo, NY, about 70 miles east of Buffalo and south of Rochester. There was a train station in Mt. Morris and sometimes if the wind was right, I could hear the whistles coming all the way across the valley. I think it was the Delaware and Lackawana but not absolutely positive. Boy, do I remember winters and reading about Buffalo getting slammed by lake affect snows. Your videos bring back memories of impossible snows. Which made for wonderful sledding. I've lived in Indianapolis since 1967 and except for the blizzard of 1978, have never seen any snow such as I grew up with. Thanks for bundling up and heading out to get these train videos.
I too moved from NY to Indy. I lived in Webster (Rochester, NY), but in my working years I lived in Walworth and Palmyra, NY. I could hear and see RR crossings. One crossing was Gooney Crossing in Palmyra. It was on a bend and slanted. It was always needing maintenance.

It’s also really helpful to see trains running in these conditions and to understand what it’s like having to work on a job like that! Trains crew are required to be on the job regardless if the weather is harsh or not. I’ll tell you that in where I live in Tennessee, the weather can be all over the place especially during the fall season. East TN, to be exact has unpredictable Weather every year to the point where it hardly snows most years. I’m pretty much used to all weather conditions thanks to where I live. Anyway, thanks again WWOT! -Alik

30:50 Ironically, despite the lack of visibility, this has so far been one of the most enjoyable of your videos that I've watched since subscribing a week or so ago. Nothing like watching a snow storm at the end of August, eh? 🤣🤣
Best memories as a kid was sitting outside house with grandpa in Crestline Ohio watching every train that went by. Tracks were about 100 yards away. I would never condone this now but we knew what flat beds to hop on to the next town.

It also gave me the courage to travel by Amtrak during the winter because CFX will keep their tracks clear and the trains running. I live in the south so we do often get this kind of snow. I grew up in Utica, now I live in Virginia, and you're so right about folks who don't know how to handle driving in snow. When it does snow here (nothing like up your way) I don' like to go out, not because I can't handle the roads, but the other people don't have any idea of how to handle it. Unfortunately I Do have to go out in it, as I'm doing my part in the supply chain as a trucker.
My best friend from college grew up in New York City, and now lives in Dallas. It drives him crazy to see how the Texans are total idiots about driving in bad weather. My dad was a trucker, and he grew up in Maine, and when he was old enough to drive he learned how to handle all kinds of weather and road hazards. And he taught me how to drive safely - and other skills I'd need as a driver (changing a tire, jump-starting a dead battery), because he wanted me to be safe whenever I traveled. Though he was a trucker for a living, he was also a rail fan, which is how I know a little bit about trains - it always bothers me when one of the trains you take videos of gets the horn signal for grade crossings wrong (I know it's short-short-long till he's past the crossing-short).
After this video please help the Channel by watching another one of my videos and comment on it and please give it a Thumbs Up! Thanks! ua-cam.com/video/rk-RMtFr1VE/v-deo.html

Honestly the worst part of tourism is all the people who don't know how to drive
Trains can be very dangerous in the winter snowy conditions. The sounds are muted at least on approach.
