Great video. My favorite part was what I presume to be brand new hoppers owned by Archer Daniels Midland (ADMX) on NS123 as there was a cut of hoppers that have sequential numbers right after the 14:00 mark

    The power is so impressive
It amazes me how much these locomotives can pull. It's getting a little scary here in Iowa with the Mississippi river overflowing it's banks. The water is very close to the train tracks along the border with Wisconsin and Illinois. Thanks for another great video.

You had a really awesome video that I was telling him about but I can't think of the name of the town. I think it had a diamond close to a crossing. Anyway, I want to get over there and catch some of the Road Railers before they are gone. The last one I filmed was shortly after I started my channel. I had it run over a dollar bill. lol

Thank you for another productive day at the Beechwood Road crossing in Crescent Springs, Kentucky, Jaw Tooth! Norfolk Southern train #123 needed the help of those manned DPU units at the end of the train to get up the hill. The dead BNSF engine on the front of the train had to be the cause of train #127:3 stalling while coming up the hill. I think the train symbol of 90 was used to designate the DPU units that were tacked on the end of the train to shove train #123 up the hill. At 12:29 a former Chicago & North Western Railroad green covered grain hopper car appeared in the train. I could not read the reporting marks on that car. At 12:36 another single former CNW green covered grain hopper car appeared. This car had KBSR reporting marks. At 12:43 three more former CNW green covered grain hopper cars appeared. These three cars also had KBSR reporting marks. KBSR are the reporting marks for the Kankakee, Beaverville & Southern Railroad. The "Brick" heading up hill out of the Ohio River Valley was a bonus catch!

No doubt the inbound train was happy to hear they could go because I'm sure they didn't want to be stuck on the road. The big uphill train should have had some nutrients from its consists much of it from. A DM and a batch of grain that was loaded on the Kankakee Beaverville and Southern. KBSR cars including a former klemme grain car with the pink paint bleeding through. Then CP leads a Tate & Lyle set of empties back to Indiana. The 3 pushers on the mega train would have been worthy of Surround-sound

The original name of Dunsmuir, CA, was Pusher because that’s where one or more locomotives would be added to push trains up through the Cantara Loop, then run back down to get ready to help the next northbound train.

Do you know if the stalled train had a DPU on the end of it that couldn't keep up with the load? Judging by the fact that the two rear engines were tail to tail, and that the first engine on the back of the stalled train was nose to nose with the second unit, on the rear of the train, they might have had a DPU on that train but it wasn't enough to compensate for the dead engine. It's odd to see them run a set of locomotives with a rearward facing engine on the front, unless one of them is a DPU assigned to the consist, and not a helper engine.

Graffiti mostly happens in quiet, unsecured spots in urban areas. If a car doesn't spend a lot of time in that kind of environment, it won't pick up much graffiti. For example, a lot of grain cars are pretty clean, because they spend their time shuttling between huge grain elevators in the rural-ish Midwest and ports, or in storage in the middle of nowhere. Box cars, on the other hand, spend days at a time sitting at some random customer site that's probably in the suburbs of a city.

I got back the other day from my first ever train trip from St. Louis to Austin and back and while much of it was a study in tardiness and missing dates and my very last train home ( the only one that was on time), it was interesting! I LOVED the leg room and the hassle-free boarding. No basically stripping down and having everything x-rayed like they do flying. I met two You Tubers there I've been following for years now but I'm afraid I didn't make a great first impression as I'm not used to packing a razor for many years now and the hotel had none that I could see anywhere. I know I had some stubble so I probably looked like a bum! Then, on the way you see all the old tracks and obvious places where they used to be and some being half-buried.. Not to mention all of the obvious former stations, big and small. Sure makes me wonder just how many places the railroads went in the 20's and 30's! Thanks to your videos I found myself looking at the pedigree of the rails and now I know what the inscriptions mean! Being 58 I didn't enjoy having to go down stairs then back up stairs to use the facilities but it is what it is! Even with the problems I would consider taking the train again though next time I might spring for the sleeper ticket as those people are on the bottom and don't have to go up and down the stairs!
