Western Foreign Power In Ohio, Caboose On End Of Train, Trains With DPUs & CSX Interchange With NS

- Union Pacific Railroad & BNSF Locomotives Pulling Norfolk Southern Railroad Trains On CSX Tracks! Whose RR Is What? CSX Train With Caboose On Rear At The Wye In Hamilton Ohio. See where the train station was moved from and to. Trains with leased locomotives on the Norfolk Southern New Castle Indiana Sub. Trains at the CSX and NS interchange in the city of Hamilton.
First train is a Norfolk Southern manifest on the CSX Toledo Sub. This NS train has BNSF and Union Pacific locomotives. Check out the graffiti on the auto racks car near the end. Pretty cool.
Then we see another NS train led by BNSF power and 2 BNSF mid train DPUs. These DPU locomotives are among over 30 locomotives leased from Wells Fargo Rail that are SD70MAC units. Norfolk Southern is power short just like they were back in 2018 when they leased the same units. Check out the long cut of boxcars on the rear of that train!
I went back into downtown Hamilton to catch a CSX local at the wye of the Indy Sub and the Toledo Sub. Notice that I got a wave from the conductor! That was awesome and the train had a platform caboose on the rear. Have you ever seen one of those?
We see where the old train station was moved from and where it is today. After that another CSX train runs southbound toward Cincinnati Queensgate Yard. This train is seen crossing over from Track 1 to Track 2 and then taking the Norfolk Southern mainline. That was actually pretty cool and you can hear the defect detector as the train is passing. That train was a monster! It emptied the yard somewhere.

Your posts are so numerous, detailed, informative and entertaining. Love how you just don't slap something together and put it on YT. I know you've said you do sleep, but I think you know hundreds of off-road places to put a sleeping bag down in your pup tent, they store easily between use, and catch a few zzzz's then on to the next location. Love the caboose capture and your pup spots at the end. I do my thing with two tuxedo cats.
All the trains in the parade kept on moving even with all the foreign units. I guess that autorack was meant to convey the message we wreck trains with spray cans and paint brushes. As for the WFRX. DPUs Wells Fargo Bank will be trying to unload the ex BNSF units before there is a big downturn in rail activity. C'mon open a $10k CD and get a free unit. All those coils compressing the ballast and filling in for the usual NS steel train. And for all the grocery store shelves in SW Ohio the 4 mechanical reefers coming back from the cold storage facility guarantee french fries hash browns and tater tots for everyone
I suspect it's actually conveying the message that the cars inside kill trains by taking away their business.
Trains have been around for more than a hundred years. Plus, one car can't haul the mass cargo a train can.

Thank you for another day of railfanning in Hamilton, Ohio on 30 June 2023, Jaw Tooth! Your videos from Hamilton, Ohio are always filled with numerous trains. At 9:19 two mid-train DPUs appear with WFRX reporting marks. This is the first time that I have seen WFRX reporting marks on a locomotive. Obviously these two engines started out life as BNSF engines. I noticed that they have not connected the two parts of the Hamilton, Ohio depot. Before the depot was moved, it was one building. Then just before they moved the depot, they removed the "breezeway" between the passenger depot and the freight house portions of the depot. Then the two portions of the depot were moved on separate days.

Probably almost zero. They're mostly 53ft containers, which are only used between North America and Asia.

That freight with the double DPU had some cool looking lumber loads from Saint John. great to see a caboose.
Had the NS Pennsylvania heritage unit leading out here a week ago with one of the WFRX SD70MACs trailing it (I did get a video in a downpour). As to the SD70MACs, the leases were up on them and BNSF didn't want to keep them, NS has at least 50 of them now. Seen more ex-BNSF Macs out east on some smaller railroads and even some up in Canada too.

What's up with that Kill All Trains car? I've never seen anything like that before! Those were great catches in Hamilton! You got lucky, especially with those double DPU's! Too bad you were not there a few weeks ago in early June when the Canadian Pacific Heritage Unit went by! I caught that one! I only got pics though, no video.

hi there Jaw Tooth. did you know that in all 50 us states that it is illegal for all trains to have and use a caboose for the last car all train caboose’s got permanently banned in the 1990’s

5:28 I guess the "we kill trains" graffiti on the autorack is referring to the way that widespread car ownership killed passenger rail in North America and that trucks continue to impact freight rail.

That slogan in Hamilton OH @ 5'30" known as " We kill trains" looks like sabotage or a disgruntled former employee, I suppose the worst case scenario could only be interfered air hoses, but does draw attention to itself somewhere near the interchange between NS and CSX lines, trust Maccas was up to the taste test, thanks for your usual camera skill ❤
