To be fair - I've never seen one fail under normal circumstances. But, this upgrade is definitely superior! Thank you very much for watching and for engaging the channel!!
this one is way simpler. I made it while a student in school at The Colorado School of Trades based on their blueprints. Probably ripped off from PTG, but has served me well with hundreds of extractor jobs so far! FWIW - I have used the PTG jig and the one I used put the cross pin dangerously too close to the outside of the bolt diameter. Damn near ruined a bolt and job! Since then I don't trust that particular jig....
This was part of a rifle rebuild including blueprinting/accurizing. The sleeves are part of the job to provide a less sloppy fit inside the receiver, reducing bolt tilt and increasing consistency in the entire system.

this has been 1 or Remingtons weak points for years, along with their triggers. Why havent they redesigned it years ago? same reason they stayed with the same trigger.
Great video as usual
Appreciate that! Thank you for watching and for engaging the channel!
I never realized the Remington had such a mickey mouse extractor,, great upgrade and well done!

@@AccurateRiflesandRestorations My Bergara Remington clone has a Sako style extractor, not quite as beefy as the M16 style,,
The rem extractor is clever. I've never seen one fail.
Looks exactly like the PTG jig.

What was the purpose for sleeving the bolt in the first place? (Before the extractor job)

@7:40 - I am offended by that comment. 🙂 But am used to lesser, left brained people not understanding the immense benefits of shooting left handed.
