I love how nothing went the way that was expected… he buys a bunch of guns? Doesn’t need them - everyone is dead when he arrives. He discovers what he has to do to make it right? Dies.
Honestly with Barry's track record I don't even think he'll ever turn himself in for real. He always have narrow resolutions n Bill even said in an interview that Barry gets stupider by each season n each episode. He doesnt have the mind capacity to have tht big of a resolution.
The funniest part about this scene is, this is the first time in the show where Barry is visibly shot. Everyone that tried to shoot him, could never touch him. It’s very ironic that someone untrained with firearms, was the one to give Barry his first and final blow. Which kinda makes Barry’s final words “oh wow” even more compelling. Gonna miss this show.
That's the kind of brutal irony the real world is made of. Honestly bill hader and Alec berg have an intimate understanding of death and killers, the life that follows with being one, the cruel irony of it all, and you telling yourself "wow" when the one you didn't expect bites back and gets you. It's honestly hilarious that those were his last words because I'm sure those are the last thoughts and words of many killers who eventually die by the gun
It think it's more than a creative decision. His morality split between persona and animus when he first killed. He could never have found truce between the two and live as a sheep. So he had to die like one at the hands of his shepard.
is it "ironic" or "unrealistic"? I'd go with the latter. Barry is a marine veteran and an expert assassin but he can't see Gene in his line of sight pointing a gun at him? Gene was also inside a locked room and yet he made literally no sound unlocking the door, opening it and then walking towards Barry? This last season, from the time jump, was pretty bad imo.
@@JakeKoenig one thing I love about the show is that the closest he comes to death is always from a random person. A normal person. Stabbed by a little girl, poisoned by a wife, beat near to death by a prison guard, and shot by an acting teacher. Yet the killers that chase him don't lay a finger on him. Total subversion of expectations
to me it felt like he was just surprised at how different gene looked, because he must feel like completely invincible especially up against someone like gene who he at the time assumes has no reason to kill him. The bullet that went through his chest was nothing, like it could've been a hello and he'd probably have the same reaction. especially considering he's finally given up and chosen the path of accepting what he's done. I love that ironic twist though lol
@@ExtremeSquaredthat's what it is. It's no deeper than that. The way Hader delivered the "oh wow" was definitely a comedic beat showing he was surprised at Cousineau's appearance.
@@euthyphr0 Because Fuches really accepted his true self in prison, a heartless evil criminal. Meanwhile, Gene still thinks he’s high and mighty and keeps seeking validation from the others to praise him as a hero.
@@nont18411 This is what Barry missed out on. He would have redeemed himself if he stayed in jail and accepted his true self. But he became the coward and manipulator that Fuches was and ran to religion because he couldn't accept himself
Gene brought out the best in Barry, while Barry brought out the worst in him. It’s truly tragic that moments after Barry started the “starting now” that would’ve lead to genuine redemption, his life was ended by the man he looked up to the most
He waited too long to fully commit to the "starting now". He kept making the wrong choice, and by the time he decided to do the right thing, it was too late. (This is like classic tragedy 101. God I love this show.)
He was going to kill Gene. He only agreed to turn himself in, in order to "save Cousineau" because he has to be redeemed. He is obsessed with being the "hero"
Gene sitting next to Barry's corpse is so cold man. He got what he wanted even if it costs Gene his whole career and the public not seeing his side of the story.
Yeah but in the long run, Barry wins He gets to be the good guy, buried with full military honors, while Gene gets to rot in prison. In the long run, I don't think Gene will feel like he won
Barry was seeking for redemption from gene for whole series and in the end the man who was supposed to be his moral compass the man who was supposed to give him redemption kills him 😢
@@danial8989 Gene has lost everything because of Barry: his girlfriend is dead, his son hates him and his dream of returning to Hollywood is lost forever
One more thing i think bb and Barry may have some similarity in ending like Walter white and Barry both doing right thing in end and both Jesse and Sally get to escape also both Sally and Jesse traumatized even Barry and wlater white both become almost psychopaths and we're killing everything and not remorsing during midseason with side characters getting their life destroyed in process with fuches an exception who finally come to on his terms but bb ending felt more rewarding with Jesse getting freed but personally I like Barry ending better cause of gene Barry saga well peace out
I don’t think I’ll ever truly come to terms with this finale. Barry is going to be a show that lives on in its dedication to the grey zone of human behavior.
I just watched it not even a minute ago. I am really annoyed with the fact that they're ending it and that I was really devastated by his death and just shocked.
I hope he does what Breaking Bad did and just does a few spin offs.. Fuches is still alive after all - he could have his “El Camino” but I’m happy where it ended
I don't think it was that, he just finally realized that Sally and John left him because of him and there's nothing more he could do than to actually turn himself in and drop the bullshit delusions of him being redeemed by God and all that.
Actually it was his beliefs, he believed he dodged the gun fight for a reason. So, when he got to the house, he realized that this was the moment he was destined for. To turn himself in, but Gene got greedy again and killed him .
The way Barry says "Wow." makes me think that in his head the entire time he was wondering who was finally going to kill him, so when he saw Gene his last thought was; "Gene? Oh, wow, wasn't expecting that."
I was confused by that tho. Did he get the gun out in the first place to kill himself and last moment change his mind? Or did he get the gun out because he heard Barry
@@georgehernandez2156 I think he was gonna kill himself, but then heard Barry in the house and honestly without thinking (because Barry literally said he was gonna turn himself in) he shoots Barry not even thinking about the fact that it’ll condemn him because of the fact that Barry never confessed
@@georgehernandez2156 Not only what everyone said, while he assisted with capturing Barry, he couldn't stomach in that moment the idea of Barry being captured and confessing, only to get away with it once again. So he impulsively killed him and it lead to one of the most intelligently scathing and ironically funny endings that I've seen in a show (the whole "Mask Collector" film reshaping the story for Barry to be the hero, and Gene to be the villain. A commentary on the twisting/tricky legacies that come with true crime stories interpreted by Hollywood).
People saying Barry was going to do the “right thing,” yet it took the pressure of losing his family to do that right thing. If Sally walked through the door he would have ditched Gene in a heartbeat.
That's kinda reasonable to me. If people dont want to be around you because of your actions, and you actually like those people, you'll stop what you're doing or lose them.
@@EdgieAlias Fair point. I’m talking more to the notion that Barry is turning himself in for Gene or for some inner pull toward what is “right” and “just.” I agree, a person like Barry requires outside pressure to change. But it speaks to his lack of conscience outside of external consequence.
@@gideongillis8974yeah but his choice to actually face the consequence is soooo different from his behavior the rest of the show. He kills one of his BEST FRIENDS to avoid consequences, still experiencing the mindfuck that goes along with it. That he CHOSE here to face consequences even though he could just as easily kill tom and leave is a huge step forward in growth. That’s like half the battle. And the moment barry figures that out he gets shot 😂😂
I think there was no pressure honestly. I think barry finally realized that it was him all along when sally willingly left with the john. There at rock bottom when he had nothing he realized who he was and what he did. It's kinda similar to fuches actually. When fuches meets Hank and they talk fuches admits he was acting and when he lost everything and was in prison getting beat up he realized what he was. I think what happened to barry here was similar to that. He finally realized he was a bad guy, THE bad guy.
The editing in this scene really made Barry’s death seem more surreal and shocking. Kudos to the post production crew this season, they really kicked ass
The effects were kinda janky on the second watch. Especially in the Hank and Fuches shootout and when The DA and Moss traps Gene. The effects were so obvious. But to be fair at first watch I didn't notice it
So simple to if you minus out conversation. It’s literally just a shot from off screen, sees the shooter seys “ow wow” in a funny amazed way and then black screen
He literally could have lived, had Barry turn himself in and gotten things cleared up if he didn’t act like he always acts. Best show I’ve probably ever watched besides twin peaks
I like that Barry wanted to turn himself in at the end. It's too late for that, of course, but if he really believed in religious redemption, you go how you die, not how you lived. From a more objective point, Barry was a piece of shit. We feel for him because we saw him struggling with himself, with his choices. But one way or another, there are consequences and this is it. I'm glad for Barry. He had his "happy" life and made a family with Sally. 8 years on the run for her but for him, the happy place he always wanted. And he got it. Love how "Wow" were his last words, as in "Wow, after all I've been through, all my crazy luck, this is how it ends, in the hands of Gene". Great finale.
Barry should have gone to prison, Gene should have lived a free man. (Barry breaks the hell out optional as it would still not incriminate Gene) But Gene just HAD to BLOW HIS LOAD >:(
@@EdgieAlias YES. A bad man that did the right thing in the end, will be glorified forever, while a man that couldn't handle his anger (the theme of the show) is now the bad guy forever.
I don't get this comment. What Gene did was wrong, it might've felt right but it was wrong because if he never shot Barry, he would've been remembered as a psycho murderer and gene the actual hero.
@@thebadwolf3088 right, but because of the movie shown at the end and because of that funeral with full honors, Barry will be seen in the eyes of the public as a sad story while Gene will be seen as the true villian of the story. Gene acted in anger at the end, but barry was finally willing to make amends. Gene acting in anger, so like dude you replied to said, that's a major theme of the show. Barry, sally, and Gene all deal with their anger and inferiority in different ways but it's shown through the series to always have consequences. Genes consequences are going to prison. The irony that only the audience sees is that Gene is totally innocent, basically justified. But in the eyes of the people in the world of barry, he's a psycho. While only we, the audience, know that barry is the true psycho. I hope this long rambling comment makes sense.
Gene got it the worst.. the only saving grace is that he killed Barry in the end. Still can’t stand Janice’s father tho - - the character came into the story too late.
@@firstlast9846 Considering that Barry was about to turn himself in, which would have cleared Gene’s name, I believe that killing Barry really only made it worse for himself, even if he did avenge Janice (although Barry back in prison also would’ve done that).
I love how the audience applause overlaps with the next scene, making it seem like we just watched the ending to a play. It's even shot that way, as if they're on a stage.
Barry has survived so much and gotten out of so many tight spots by refusing to accept his situation. He's had the devil's luck throughout so many moments in the show. The MOMENT he finally comes to term with this, he gets shot and killed almost instantly. Like the consequences were waiting until that moment to finally catch up to him. But in a bizarre way, he actually truly got the life he wanted for his family, instead of the superficial one they lived before. At least that's how I interpreted it, but this show is so grey in it's morality that I may feel different after watching it again. This show really was something else.
In a way, Barry got what he wanted. He ran away with the love of his life, had a child, and in the end, after his death, he was seen as the hero he wanted his son to believe he was. Barry is pretty much the only person who won in the end. Gene is in prison, No Ho Hank is dead, Sally will never be the same person she was, and Fuches served his time in prison, but in the end he redeemed himself to Barry and was out of his life. You might be thinking, "Well Barry is dead, that's not a win," but if he would have continued to live out the life he had planned for him and his family after the events with No Ho Hank, he wouldn't be seen as the "hero" of this journey. We as the audience would've hated him more because of this, but in this scene we get a small glimpse that Barry was finally going to do the right thing by turning himself in, and his reward was getting shot by Gene. Had Gene not shot Barry and actually cleared his name, Gene would be seen as the hero, not Barry. I'm still sad that Barry is dead, but honestly this was a satisfying ending, and I am really eager to see what Bill Hader has in store for us next.
I just witnessed one of the better series of all time. Excellent cast, excellent writhing and a great ending. I'm gonna miss this show but its end was in perfect timing.
This was one of the greatest scenes i’ve ever witnessed with my own 2 eye balls. I’m sad to see Barry go but excited to see what’s next for Bill Hader.
Wat? As soon as I saw Barry die I threw my hands up in the air like fuckin really? No series can we ever see the "bad guy" triumph. It's always a righteous ending like God damn. For once, can we please just have the "bad guy" win? Glad at least Gene gets to spend the rest of his life in prison and Sally is still being a selfish mother that only cares about her career so her son can grow up to only care about Barry's legacy, I'm pretty sure that was the message at the ending that is going over everyone's head.
@@MeisterFuhrer Barry will forever be immortalized as the war veteran who sacrificed his life to save his family from Gene Cousineau, and Gene will forever be immortalized as the cartel dealing psychotic murderer who killed his girlfriend in cold blood. I think Barry won.
2:32 It's extremely subtle, but when Barry says "I see", you can hear the faint sound of waves crashing. In that moment, he sees the beach he's going to when he dies. Incredible detail
Being murdered by Henry Winkler is kind of the best ending for a series like this. Bill must be so giddy and kind of starstruck when thinking about this entire series. When you hear him on interviews, Conan, etc. he doesn't come off as someone who expected greatness. He's kind of a, "holy !@#$ I get to make this thing? I get to work with The Fonz?!" I love Bill's ability to look at the whole cosmic situation and see the bizarre comedy in it. That's probably why Barry is such a masterpiece.

Barry turning himself in would have proved Gene's innocence (of commiting murder. He did some pretty awful other things) but Gene shoots him in the face. Yup. Sounds about right for this show.
I think Gene just wanted Barry out of his life for good. He tried everything else, sending him to prison, ruining his story, none of it worked and it ruined his reputation and family relationship.
Bill Hader’s subtle acting with his eyes was masterclass, it almost felt like after accepting that he was never going to see Sally and John again he was also accepting that his life was essentially over. Before Gene makes it official
One of the best final episodes of all time, chalk Barry up in the perfect run column with Justified, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, and a few others. In the end, only Barry's son came out a winner, getting to think his father was a good man.
@@DerekDickey Justified is great, consistently some of the best dialogue, constant joy to just listen to characters speak. The show was so good, was the most civil IGN comment section of all time, every week was basically just a discussion of the great things the show did. Raylan/Boyd is the best set of frenemies of all time, anytime they share the screen, pure gold.
The discussion about Abe Lincoln in episode 5 was a clue. Barry was learning all about Abe Lincoln. The official story of Abe was that he was pure and perfect (like "The Mask Collector"). But he had a bad side (as Barry tells John), having executed people and leading warriors to their death (like Barry himself). And ... wait for it ... Abe Lincoln was shot in the head by an actor.
I had figured that scene was for the irony of Barry's life. Barry tries to bring down a respected figure know for honesty to make himself seem like a moral person
I think Fuches had the happiest ending. He redeemed himself through prison, saw himself for who he is, and embraced it. Apologied to Barry without a single word and now he's free. Isn't even mentioned in the movie. Sally turned into S1 Gene.
@@JokermanUno Which is ironic, given that he's become a fully-fledged mob boss. The only character who finds some measure of inner peace is the one who fully confronts and accepts the fact that he's a villain.
That last shot of Gene sitting next to Barry with the slow zoom and the applause gives me goosebumps every time I see it. Bill Hader and the whole Barry team did such an incredible job with this show, I can't wait to see what he directs next!
I appreciate the title doesn’t have any spoilers, a whole bunch! Too many scene clip channels are totally okay with spoiling things if it means they get extra clicks. Might wanna change the thumbnail though.
hahaha. I love it. Rip Torn's gun instead of Chekov's gun. When it was mentioned that Gene had a gun given to him by Rip Torn I knew that it would be crucial in a future episode.
3:01 the comedic timing is impeccable. Even in death despite all the drama and stakes Barry’s death is executed like a comedy bit. Incredibly hilarious and jaw dropping all at once. Bill hader is king. Gene brought he best out Barry while barry brought the worst out of gene. Barry was truly going to redeem himself and help gene get his name cleared, but genes pride was his down fall which led to Barry getting everything he ever wanted in death and gene losing everything he deserved. Hilarious in the darkest way possible. Bravo bill hader.
The writes set up the final episode brilliantly. They made it look like Barry was going to go on a huge rampage at the end of the previous episode and go out in a blaze of glory, but he kills no one in the final episode and the story gets played out by the other characters. Barry is basically shown buying a bunch of guns, driving and then picking up his son after John is saved by Fuches. All of the violence is committed by other people. Even Barry's death has no drama to it. Well done.
Look at Gene after he killed Barry, his face says it all, he doesn’t care anymore, especially not if his son believes that he’s monster, which is ironic in a sense, considering that him killing Barry allows him to be painted as a tragic hero, one who John can say he’s proud to call his father.
I love how the first time Barry has clarity in his entire life, he immediately looks at the person he loves the most and realizes his “love” has ruined the person’s life and driven them insane…and his reaction is just “Oh wow.”
The “oh wow” just made me laugh so hard and I instantly knew he was gone. Even after, I just couldn’t stop smiling because it just makes so much sense. Bill Hader is such a fantastic film maker.
Barry is masterfully done. From the dark humor, to the action sequences, to the incredible character development, to the across-the-board stellar acting. It’s in a category all its own.
This show gives us the bleakest reminder that we eventually pay the price for the wrongs we do. As humans, we are terrified of the consequences hence why a lot of the times, we don’t like taking responsibility because of what comes with it. You can run and hide from things for as long as you like but you’ll never have peace because your heart jumps every time you hear that knock on your door.
I almost started weeping when I saw Barry dead. For all his faults, I was still somewhat rooting for his delusional ass. I felt fine with Walter White dying and even possibly Tony Soprano dying, but with Barry Berkman, I’m just conflicted. Honestly, I think it’s Bill Harder’s terrific acting that has me conflicted.
Guess I got what I deserved Kept you waiting there too long, my love All that time, without a word Did you really think that I'd forget And regret The special love I have for you My baby blue
In truth I too was shocked on the way Barry went out but it all falls in line with the comedic dark tone of the show. But I’m the end Barry won even in death. Remembered as a hero and hurried with all military honors and his son loving his father and seeing him as a hero instead of a monster which leads him to not being like him. He broke the cycle.
Wow, I did not expect that "literally" This shocking moment reminded me of Uncut gems and boy, after running away, everything ends up dead Bill Hader, you are the best actor and director at the same time...
I think, for me, I consider Barry redeemed. It doesn't matter we didn't see him arrested (again) it was that he truly made the right call. In the entire show he never even CONSIDERED turning himself in, he would kill anyone to prevent it, the same way he went to kill Jim as soon as Gene said Jim knew Barry killed Janice. The fact he committed to it here tells me it was real. But to allow him to do it would rob Gene of a sensible ending to his arc. He constantly chose fame via parading around Janice's corpse (metaphorically, to quote a friend of mine), and picked that over every relationship including that of his with his son. He killed Barry knowing the consequences but no longer being able to care once Leo wrote him off entirely. Barry couldn't live and it be a satisfying ending for Gene.
The first couple episodes of the show really make you think you'll see a bad guy redeem himself, but you just see a bad guy become worse and worse until he is suddenly killed by a guy whose life he ruined.
That "oh wow" was the funniest thing in this entire season. Edit: I never thought I rooted for the protagonist of the story getting killed than Barry Berkman. Even if characters that deserve to die like Walter White, Tony Soprano, Jax Teller, or even Nucky Thompson, I never wanted them to die. But, Barry is such a damn different story in the first place. I legimately wanted to be killed at the end of season 2 when he killed almost everybody in the monastery, without even blinking. The moment when Gene shot him, I was just lmao. This show is one of the best of all time, I'm glad this show new when to stop, you cant say that about every show.
God waited for Barry to realize he needed to turn himself in and answer for his crimes, then and only then did he decide Barry's time on Earth was done.
What a surreal and poetic ending. Barry chose to do the right thing, only when it was too late. Gene chose revenge over proper justice and now his legacy is a wash. There was no way out of the situation without one of them being framed as a monster.
But in this moment, Gene doesn’t care about his legacy. Throughout the series he’s been shown as someone very self-centered and obsessed with his standing in the entertainment world. It’s why he keeps trying out for bit parts when everyone has made it clear they don’t want to hire him. Due to Barry, he’s lost the love of his life, shot his son and has Barry’s crimes pinned on him. He has nothing left to lose. The fact that Gene just sits down next to Barry’s body after killing him vs. trying to escape or even calling the police to try to explain says that he knows what happens next. He will spend the rest of his life in prison. For a guy who lived so selfishly, he sacrifices his freedom to extract revenge for Moss’ murder. Outstanding writing.
I think that "Barry's" a story on par with the ancient Greek tragedies. This and Breaking Bad, two American masterpieces. And I love how Barry's end mirrors Mayrbek's (the Chechen whose life Barry gave meaning to... and took in Season 2). This finale... Oh wow.
This scene is so sad to me. Barry was finally ready to do the right thing, accept responsibility, and help people. A nobody like Tom was able to save the day and talk down a mass murderer into turning himself in. Gene could've been cleared for all the things he'd been framed for and he'd be recognized as the victim of Barry that he truly was. Then he murdered Barry. I suppose he deserved it, but it is too bad that he had to go right before he was able to get the best remaining outcome for both of them.
I was yelling like crazy at Barry’s death scene. I was expecting to hear a distant shot in the other room, since Gene was alone - but fuck man that was cold blooded! The one time he was gonna take accountability, life caught up to him in the most fitting way possible.
A realistic end to a believable story… So rare these days. Fairytale endings are bullshit for the most part. Fucking beautiful. Literally made me cry over the last 3 episodes. Cristobal deserved better
Sometimes the baddest and most unstoppable dudes end up getting shot or killed by some random dude, or someone you wouldn't expect. It's actually a pretty realistic ending
After rewatching the show this actually is perfect for both Gene and Barry. Up to Season 3 we were led to believe that Gene had peoples best interests at heart, but what he learn in season 3 is that Gene is a very spiteful, cruel human being who doesn’t even remember some of the awful things he’s done. Barry on the other hand remembers everyone he’s hurt and has always felt bad about it. He in the end did try to to change but it got him killed, and Gene refusing to change became the monster in Barry’s place in history.
I’ve seen some criticism of how this was handled, but to me it makes perfect sense. Gene could have easily turned Barry in and made people like him again, that’s what he was wanting the entire show, but instead of doing that, instead of just perpetuating that selfishness he’s had throughout the whole show that led to this happening in the first place, he decides that his redemption isn’t what’s important anymore. He had his chance to make amends with people last season, and he did that even if it didn’t stick. What was important was ensuring Barry got what was coming to him. He wasn’t going to let him try and redeem himself after everything, that time had passed for both of them. I think for the first time, Gene finally does something good he doesn’t benefit from at all. It didn’t matter anymore to him, because at the end of the day: if Barry got to have that high ground now after everything that happened, if he let Barry confess and exonerate it just meant there was another thing he owed to the man who killed the woman he loved. There’s a peace to him at the end of this scene, one I don’t think we get to see the whole show. I think every character really ended up getting what they wanted in the end, and I think that is beautiful
I read it more as Gene literally not knowing Barry was going to turn himself in and murdering Barry out of hate/revenge, but your interpretation is interesting. To me, I read his peace as a man who has lost everything and is destroyed utterly and devoid of any will to live.
don't see anyone saying this, but: I love how the last shot of Gene sitting next to Barry's corpse feels like you're seeing a painting. At the same time, when the clapping starts, it made me feel like Gene and Barry were on a stage, performing a play, which makes this even better when you think of the context of the relationship between Barry, Gene and acting. Honestly, when the claps started, I even thought the ending would be Barry and Gene on a stage, performing a play and that we were going to see an audience watching all that. But obviously, it would've been an awful ending lol
Total Sopranos riff with the cut to black. Gotta pay respect to HBO for giving these shows a platform to fucking shine. The rollercoaster in your brain when you hear the gunshot. Masterful resolution.
dude i wanted barry to die so badly when he was praying to try and save his spot in heaven. then he tried to turn himself in, and i felt so bad, and immediately it was too late. this episode was an extreme rollercoaster for me
I noticed that even the colors in the room where Barry dies are symbolic. Throughout the series, the imagery of dark doorways signifies his dark side. But here, there are white walls and a bright window symbolizing truth, purity, and cleanliness, because in this room, Barry, for the first time, confesses his wrongdoings and wants to take responsibility for them. But it's too late. Therefore, the red curtains foreshadow blood dripping down from Barry's head to the white armchair. Additionally, there are dolls on the shelves that are lifeless, just like a corpse.
No but this is the show. Barry was going to turn himself in but gene killed him, effectively killing whatever chance he had to redemption in the eyes of the law and the public. The moment he perpetuated the cycle of revenge and violence he lost. It’s the show over and over and over again.
Even more than that, him saying he'll turn himself in just before getting shot acts as this "ultimate cleanse" and lets Barry be completely Redeemed within the universe. They literally did the Osama bin laden joke from family guy of him accepting Jesus just before getting shot and then going to heaven lmao
Bill Hader's delivery of "Oh, wow" is so good. Like he's not even thinking about getting shot, just taking in the absurdity of the situation

@@EdgieAlias Fair point. I’m talking more to the notion that Barry is turning himself in for Gene or for some inner pull toward what is “right” and “just.” I agree, a person like Barry requires outside pressure to change. But it speaks to his lack of conscience outside of external consequence.
And Gene still would’ve shot him, traumatizing John and everyone else.
@@gideongillis8974yeah but his choice to actually face the consequence is soooo different from his behavior the rest of the show. I think there was no pressure honestly. I think barry finally realized that it was him all along when sally willingly left with the john. There at rock bottom when he had nothing he realized who he was and what he did. It's kinda similar to fuches actually.
I love the irony in how Gene, because of his ego and stupidity, kills the one person who was about to save him from a lifetime in Jail.
The first couple episodes of the show really make you think you'll see a bad guy redeem himself, but you just see a bad guy become worse and worse until he is suddenly killed by a guy whose life he ruined.
Barry's delivery is such a perfect "For real, isn't this ironic?"
Oh wow.
What Greek tragedy does it remind you of the most?
I think the "oh wow" is him seeing Gene with a beard lmao.
I cant believe it ended like this. Yet it was probably the only way to end it. RIP Barry.
What Gene did ? I only remembered he was cruel at the theatre class and thats it
@@mon5ter651in season 3 he apologizes to a lot of people he hurt, and his agent even pointed out that Gene burned a lot of bridges over petty reasons.
Gene was just caught up in Hollywood ego. He had no real faults to me
This show was fucking incredible. One of the best shows if not the best of the decade.
Guess Gene is really put in jail for murder, this time for real
Welcome to the hell of dead protagonists 🐐, Mr. Berkman
This is absolutely the funniest possible way that Barry could've gotten himself killed.
This show was fantastic and this will definitely go down as one of the best series finales of all time.
The "oh wow" is so random and hilarious. It's so funny in a completely bleak episode.
Bill Hader gave one of the greatest performances of all time.
Henry Winkler actually murdered Bill Hader in this scene. Bill Hader loved it so much he kept it in the final cut for realism.
@@nont18411 bill was so impressed by this he just had to say "oh wow"
Literally wow.
Hard to take this one in, but it felt right. Loved Barry and will always be a spot in my heart for it
"Oh wow" was Barry's last thought about how sh*t Gene looks lol
I love the detail where you can actually see a part of Barry's head hanging off.
Yeah, really great detail most shows leave out, usually only have entry wounds, forgetting the damage the bullet does on the way out.
Christopher : "the top of his head came off like a fkin bad rug!!"
don't see anyone saying this, but: I love how the last shot of Gene sitting next to Barry's corpse feels like you're seeing a painting.
"Oh wow" Honestly feels like some dumb shit I'd say before I died.
That’s crazy cause I noticed they changed up his house but couldn’t figure out why
I like to think that Barry said "Oh wow" not because Gene shot him, but just how much Genes appearance has change (long hair, beard, etc.)
Does anyone else find Barry's death hilarious? I just cackled.
Like Patsy Parisi said in The Sopranos, "It won't be cinematic".
Which is ironic given how Barry's death was portrayed in the movie about his life.
