The win conditions are either cheat out ridiculous stats and pray your opponent doesn’t have an answer or cheat out an otk turn that your opponent can’t react to. Very fun.
this is way better than hoping that you draw your 1 key card in the deck meta

I cannot imagine playing hearthstone professionally/competatively. Must be a truly hellish job, I salute these soldiers.
Back in my day one turn kills used to require a lot of setup and was only a win-condition for small amount of decks.

35:30 the misplay here i think wasnt playing the taunts and instead playing Helya. My man is like 20 plagues away from a helya win, what we needed there was taunts.
the warrior had a bunch of board clears anyway would have realistically delayed it by 1 turn. I think when odyn was played and there wasn't enough pressure it was over already.
What he needed was to not hero power the last turn, instead freeze and play the taunts and just keep freezing and playing taunt every turn so he cant reno + clear the taunts in the same turn. Since every turn he draws a frost plague the combo is unusable he probably would have won if he just delayed one more turn with that play

How on earth would it be a downside? The only thing that comes to my mind is maybe burning a card cos it filled the 10th spot, but come on. AND ITS EVEN TRADEABLE. you can even test counterspell or buff it with spell damage ,.
Ive been testing out an agro mage in Wild. Lots of minons that gives low cost spells or just do good early presence then hit 1 emp turn and just watch the minigun go. Who knew a Value Agro deck could be good.
at worst it kills your draw and you have to spend one mana to "fix" it but that is barely a downside for an insane card

It sucks seeing the death knight having board clear against warlock but doesn't take it
Granted, it was a very complex defile that needed counted like 3 times. Cause it's hero power. Threads of despair. Have the 1/1 hit zilliax. Then a 2/2 (2/1 now after first threads of despair trigger) hits one of the molten giants. Triggering the chain taking out the other ghoul you have left. The priestess the warlock has and zilliax. Then smack the 3 health molten giant with weapon for the last trigger to take out the last 2 giant on board
Yeah this is what annoys me playing the game recently. People just play the best decks so they don't have to think, it's super boring. Even "pro players" often play like idiots.
But I guess that's why the other guy's the better player, so at least he won.
I was confused for a while, but it maked sense if the giants would lose 1 HP after Zilliax dies and the aura is gone, but is that how it works when the giants are damaged and not being buffed to a higher health value ? or would they just stay at 5HP after the Zilliax aura is gone and then 4HP after the defile triggers? (sorry if my wording is confusing)
@xaviermitchell578 the anthem affect should go away with zilliax getting the giants back down to the proper health to have the threads of despair triggers take them out
Auras that give stats kind of heal damaged minions since all the way back to the beginning of Hearthstone. Let's say you had a Silverback Patriarch on the board that took two damage (1/2). Then you play a Stormwind Champion which buffs the Patriarch to a (2/3). If your opponent kills the Stormwind Champion, your Patriarch loses the attack, but remains the health. The Patriarch would then be a (1/3). Zilliax should work the same, so a full clear would not have been possible, but he could have cleared everything except one Mountain Giant, which would have been an (8/2) if I counted correctly.
20:27 I think the Deathknight had to go threads of despair here. I believe it was the best chance to survive and clear a bunch of minions. Threads of despair, attack zombies into Zilliax and 9/7 giant, respectively (which kills zilliax and cult neophyte due to aoe damage from threads), hero power weapon into 9/7 giant (which should kill it). This should leave the Warlock with two damaged molten giants and nothing else. Am I wrong? I honestly don't know. That was a messy situation.

Your opponent has 0 cards in hand, and the only thing you are losing to in the following turn is them having 2 draws to hit exactly speaker stomper.
Better play is hero power/baron threads one 2/2 into zilliax 2/1 into damaged giant and then threads kills everything but the 2 remaining giants as 8/3s kill one with weapon and ez win
@@HitanBot I think it would be Baron over hero power. Hero power dies to the first one damage aoe, so the second zombie doesn't get to attack, which is a big deal.

Hero Cards unfreezing has won me so many games with Odyn decks xD its such a nuts mechanic that many people forget or simply dont know about
To be fair this is really interesting game design to see once in the finals. But its the worst game design for players to lose when you cant do anything to stop it for a whole season.

Hey Rarren another great video here's a did you know... Did you know if you hero power with he sickly grimewalker and cast threads fo dispair and run it into something it will clear the board
21:20 I think what I would have done is:
-Trade snake oil
-play chillfallen baron
-play threads of despair
-trade the first 2/2 into the zilliax, dealing 1 to everything (leaving a 4/2, two 9/8, 9/6 and 3/2 zilliax, 2/1 rusher and 2/1 baron))
-trade the second 2/2 (now 2/1) into the 9/6, killing baron, so dealing 2 dmg to everything, which kills zilliax, which kills neophyte, which kills the 9/6, leaving two 8/1 I believe? Then you can kill 1 with the weapon. Is this line correct?
In the last game he also did choose to discover instead of taunting alongside helya, I think he underestimated the lethality of the situation

Yeah, yesterday I logged in, queued up my slightly off meta DH deck, got OTKd through a taunt on turn 6. Queued up a second time. Got killed on turn 4. Closed the game. Played something else. Rarran really does try to make this game fun, but it’s not working for me anymore.
the taunts would have blocked on the next turn when he has 0 armor. This is like insane matchup knowledge though.

If he swings with weapon garrosh goes to 2 armor and the plague still makes it 0 armor still gg. the misplay was sending the hero power face and not playing 3 taunts for the 4 mana, he left 2 mana on his final turn and hero powered. he could have had 0 mana 3 less damage on garrosh which means he would have left him with 1 armor (plague still makes it less than 1 armor but is a better play around than leaving 0 armor to begin with) and he would have had 3 taunts up plus frozen face = gg. Huge misplay by a masters champ.
For the last game I feel like if u reska drop the taunt boys and weapon should be an autowin. It was a mistake to use passive. Maybe its hindsight tho

I can't get back past plat 1 cause of 5 turn killers and warrior that either have 130 armor turn 9 or kill u at 7-8 😂
There was a way for the dk in the last play, if he didnt HP and went for weapon in face (4) reska (1) and nerubian swarmguard (4) (9 total), warrior could still setup for lethal next turn but plagues plus HP could find more taunt + freeze. Still happy he didnt see it, great when DK looses
Yeah I'm disappointed Rarran didn't see it. If DK makes that play, the game has this really cool tension where Warrior can Reno to unfreeze face, but has to clear any taunts first. Hero power gives taunts pretty consistently too, so I think DK gets there if he doesn't throw.

I’m sorry rarran but not playing the taunts on game 3 single-handedly threw the game. Even if he had Reno, it wouldn’t ever have the Highlander effect because of the plagues, and it would require at least 2 mana to remove the taunts from board, which would save his life total.
Those decks were fucking sick. Would love to see Rarran play them

The DK actually could've cleared the board at 21:09.
-Play Chillfallen Baron, then Threads of Despair
-Attack a 2/2 into Zilliax, it explodes
-Attack the second 2/1 into one of the (now) 9/8s
-It explodes, setting one of the 9/8s to a 9/5 and killing Chillfallen Baron in the process.
-The board is now (before Chillfallen explodes): 4/1, 9/5, 9/5, 9/7, 3/1
-Chillfallen explodes, killing the Neophyte and Zilliax. They both explode, causing 2 damage and losing the Zilliax buff
-This leaves just the giants at 9/1, 9/1, 9/3
-Swing the weapon into the 9/3 giant, lose 9, heal 3, remain at 24 health
-Giant explodes, killing the 9/1s and leaving an empty board
Edit: the giants would obviously remain at 8/1, meaning the turn would end at 25 health
These games were all actually so fun to watch, shame they killed the e-sports scene.

The DK could have won the game, but it requires so much hindsight and vision. The turn warrior played reno could have been survived if he didn't break armor. From that point onwards, you have weapon equipped so constant freeze + taunts discovered. Warrior cannot otk with reno to unfreeze, and if he renos without killing dk, then dk just freezes face for next 5 turns. Then Helya does the job with plagues because warrior has so less cards.

Enjoying your commentary on this Rarran, although just like pro-LoL, watching Pro hearthstone is just meh. I think you made the right choice going for the entertainment focus over going for being top of the top. I think there's a good reason no one wants to watch Rank 1 legend folks these days.

The thing that really sucks about this tournament is that there's not a single thing the opponent could have done differently to alter the outcome of any of these games in the video. Might as well have played heads or tails instead.

PRT played DK against Habu in the semi-finals and showcased why plagues needs to be removed from this game :) This game is just mana cheating, RNG and cancerous play patterns....
