The shaman as final boss with that totem almost always used to do Keleseth on his first turn, giving all his minions +3/+3 right from the start. Almost all other classes have some broken combo too. I haven't played this one for years but either they nerfed the opponents or Rarran got extremely lucky.
Same, I feel when the last time I played it, it was a lot more about taking advantage of it when it was alive than being a reliable source of advantage every turn. Unless your shrine was really beefy.
I was totally sidelined when Rarran said the rumble was supposed to be the easiest, unless this is just based around getting a single win, because I feel like some of those shrines are complete ass to play with.

I think they tried to fix the fact that AI used to prioritize trading way too much and would sometimes miss lethal because of it. So now it just almost always goes face and trades only if it's really good like a 2-2 into an 8-2. They overfixed it.
@@Kajed8963 there's also the fact the AI can kill itself now, though. It will attack into minions with more attack than they have hp, and things like that. I think "actively kills itself" would be difficult to argue as an improvement in intelligence.
you got pretty lucky, one bad turn can get you absolutely rolled the mage one is especially bad to face at later turns iirc, but shaman also tends to be really tricky
I’m surprised how easy this was. Last time I tried it the ai always just killed my shrine on turn 1 or 2 and than immediately after it respawned almost every time
I mean, Im one of those people that plays dungeon runs literally every day since their inception (on the phone before sleeping) and I completely purged this mode from my mind. Maybe not THE worst PvE content ever but getting this mode at a time in which Blizzard called the Standard meta "too swingy" was just grade A irony
The other two Rogue shrines were an 0/2 with "Your minions have Stealth. Deathrattle: Your minions get +2 Attack." and an 0/2 with "At the start of your turn, add a card from your opponent's deck to your hand. It costs (2) less."
I used to really enjoy the solo adventures, but about 2 years ago, something with the AI changed and they became SO bad... It made the adventures SO easy :(
One thing I loved is that shrines are aluminion meaning whenever you someone a new shrine it is a full shrine. Still has the dormant then come back still has the effects
Honestly this is my second favorite solo adventure just barely behind dungeon run, the shrines add interesting mechanics that you can play around and build a deck around rather than dungeon run where you pretty much just pick the best bucket a lot of the time
My favorite part of these videos are when he's in danger of losing and he says his catch phrase "now I'm Rarran to go," and wins because of plot armor.
now, I only played solo adventures from Kobolds and Catacombs onward, but I never thought Rastakhan's Rumble run was bad, I quite enjoyed it - the flavor of that expansion was pretty good, the dungeon run format is great and the various shrines focusing on different strategies allowed for a lot of nice replayability

As someone who has beaten 1200 bosses over 50+ runs, there are many things you missed. Pesky rascal is actually pretty good because you can buff it, especially with cold blood. The passives you get after boss 6 say shrines because they affect any copies you summon(usually as priest).
I really like this solo adventure, it's just that the computer in this mode is extra stupid. In most modes it doesn't play right, but in this mode it's just atrocious for whatever reason. Not sure when this started or why.

RIP hearthstone AI. I'm probably in the minority, but I exclusively play solo content. Not super often, but sometimes its fun to just run a Dalaran heist act 5 heroic, or tombs of terror heroic. Again, in the minority but I'd totally pay for another solo adventure. Craving one actually. The solo adventures are up there with slay the spire and monster train for a roguelike card game imo.
tbh if i recall correctly from the time when i spammed this mode, the paladin shrine he got was like by far the strongest one since you do get an entire self harm package or something
I remember struggling a little with some of the really bad shrine, then having 0 challenge with the broken ones and sometimes losing randomly without being able to do anything against some combo. Basically, crazy imbalanced and a lot less exciting stuff than the other roguelike expansions. Witchwood was pretty underwhelming too actually.
I do love if your warlock with the demon seed shrine you pretty much just win against paladin with 5 damage when they take damage. I also hate how if you have the Paladain with the 5 damage shrine you just lose against damage warlock. Also I Feel lied to, I have never seen this Taunt Shrine and Ive played a fair amount of this Solo Adventure
God- I super recognize its flaws, but when I first super got into hearthstone, that was the new one and I LOVED it. So much so that when I eventually played WoW, I only ever made Trolls cuz this set and solo adventure showed me how cool and full of personality they were.
This mode is imo 2nd not 3rd when it comes to the original dungeon run trio. It’s incredibly flawed in some of the game feel but it’s super interesting and has a lot of gradient when it comes to challenge. I almost came close to winning with every possible shrine back in the day but uh, i eventually got too busy
I pretty much only like to play it with the rogue totem that gives you the hero power to steal cards from your opponent. That's the only way for me to have fun with this solo adventure.
In the final fight, if Rarran didn't get the hero he would have probably lost. The extra damage, attack, and divine shield really saved him. Shows that you need future cards to beat up the boomers of the past

Once again, when it is a streamer, he gots absolutely lucky. When I played vs the shaman as the last boss, he was ALWAYS pulling out Keleseth on his very first turn, when his shrine is alive most of the time, and that's just one example. With such luck he can play lotteries.
By far the worst one to fights are mage and shaman depending on the shrines they have, Warrior is also up there if it gets the Shrine has attack equal to armour
Blizzard broke this expansion completely. Previously I struggled with it, now it doesn't seem like the AI know how to attack the shrine anymore and only reason I lost my last run was that I completely bricked on the last boss.
Rastakhan IMO was crazy fun on release. But some change to HS AI completely ruined it. Now it doesn't understand the shrine synergies *at all* while it used to play around them
Lol this is the second solo dungeon run I have spent the most time in. (First is Dalaran obviously because I 100% dalaran and that's like 45 runs in heroic assuming you win each one). I actually love and hate this one because the luck is more centered on who you fight last rather than what you get in your deck. I've lost 90% of my run when fighting mage last but won every single time against druid.

Rumble is the second best dungeon run in the game, it's just been hit with massive nerfs as the AI breaks more and more with each new expansion and powercreep makes the Shrines go from absolutely broken to 'yeah, this could see play as is'.
I hope to see you play more of these, some of the shrines are REALLY fun, even if its not much of a challenge these days. It actually used to be nearly impossible to win with some of the weaker shrines. But come on, you can't say you didn't have fun, right? 😛
Shrines were just such a bad idea because your deck absolutely sucks without them and you’re just awkwardly waiting for it to come online again. It’s like a Dalaran Heist passive that just randomly is shut down throughout the game that your entire deck is built around.
I didn't like the totems either but to be fair, part of it was building a deck that supports the totem but not focus on it too much that you can't handle yourself without it. If you kept losing as soon as your totem got destroyed that's a deckbuilding mistake on your part.

Was gonna come here to defend the mode but realize ppl are talking about the ai and agree since I only won with paladin totem because the final boss used all their creatures to hit my face instead of my totems which were redirecting 10 damage back at them all the way to 6 hp

Mage juste freeze your entire board several turns before casting fireball 10 times on your face. Only counterplay is to play mage.

And no, first of all you don’t "build" decks in dungeon runs, you merely pick the least bad buckets and that’s it. And also no, your deck absolutely is reliant on the shrine 90%+ of the time. When it’s gone you’re just waiting for it to come back to continue playing the game, which is terrible design by hearthstone, not the player on his "deckbuilding" skills
@@Icetea-2000 At the time of writing I have over 1100 completed dungeon runs in Hearthstone, out of which 136 completed Rastakhan Rumbles. Don't worry, you don't have to explain me how to build decks in this gamemode. It's pretty much the only thing I play.

I played a lot of this adventure and now i now that ai gets dummer when a new expansion realizes then after 1-3 monhts ai gets smarter again
Was gonna come here to defend the mode but realize ppl are talking about the ai and agree since I only won with paladin totem because the final boss used all their creatures to hit my face instead of my totems which were redirecting 10 damage back at them all the way to 6 hp
I remember back in the day where I was still bad, and I just tried again and again, re-rolling until I got the Rogue deck everyone said was broken. To this day it’s also the only Solo Adventure I beat only once
10 Health Shaman one was a free win back in the day when Unstable Evolution could be reduced to cost 0
