Say what you will, as a loyal Apple user, I am very dissapointed in newest Ipads. They have great hardware but Ipad OS software is deliberately limited not the hurt Mac sales. What they don't know is customers want to take notes with a pen also on a computer and Surface Pro looks like a Ipad Pro killer to me. While trying to protect Mac sales, they will lose from both.
Agree to disagree. I literally bought a new iPad and pencil pro last week. Very happy with them. The new pencil gestures are absolutely a game changer for quick & fun note taking, and especially drawing. iPadOS is definitely unable to take advantage of the incredible hardware the M4 chip offers, but it's lightning fast for everything I've ever needed and if I need true powerhouse performance, I'm not looking for a tablet to do that.
@@SleepyPossums Apple is something else, that I agree. But I am just dissapointed I cant use a proper File manager on this beautiful device. Like on Mac, or as a programmer I cant use it to do my job, although hardware is more than capable
I'm returning my new iPad for one of these, and selling my MacBook Air. As someone who is constantly doing math by hand, drawing scientific diagrams in chem / bio, and needs to use 365, this thing is a great device. I didn't get the OLED because I really don't need it, but I'm still very happy that they added such a good webcam for Zoom / Teams. The only significant change I want to see is better pen performance.
It would be really good to do a separate video on the software compatibility with these new ARM processes. For example, is there a compatibility issue with the whole Adobe suite? How about running Visual Studio, SQL Server and Power BI? Can it run without any problems?
Why are laptops and tablets getting more expensive now compared to smartphones. I mean few years ago you were able to get flagship laptops for less than 1000 bucks but recently they have been getting insanely expensive.
So these new Copilot PCs, esp. those with the Elite chips in them, are going to be btwn $1,200 and $1,700 depending on the configs. Going with the Plus chip will get you down to $1K and then I'd say just wait for a good sale. That goes for Intel and AMD laptops, too. Lately, the things that are driving up the prices are the displays, i.e., going with OLED instead of LCD and getting a discrete GPU, which always means more $$$.
One useful AI/NPU feature you missed was “Live Caption”. It can take input from a video/audio or from the microphone and generate English captions on the fly. Very useful for videos that don’t have captions.
It can't be uninstalled, and the simple answer is to just not use it, but I also completely understand not wanting it on there at all. And it's a Hublot Classic Fusion 1915.1, thanks for watching!
Not crazy good. Compatibility issues and the iGPU is not super powerful. But lighter ARM ported games could run okay I think. Kinda disappointed Microsoft hasn't shown any initiative in compiling their own games for ARM.
I would rank the Surface Laptop 7 ahead of the Surface Pro. Far better better life and easier to place on your lap. It seems it is only good for office workers, programmers using C#/Python/Typscript, and general web browsing. Basically, typical Microsoft users minus gamers. Photo & video editors are better off staying with MacBooks or Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i (Intel version). Gamers are better off with Ryzen CPU laptops.
i think just the fact that people are comparing the surface pro 11 to actual laptops instead of the ipad pro says a lot. For tab users, this is an amazing product. Also, hope manufacturers like asus add option to set custom power drain to save even more battery 🤞
Why don't tech reviewers ever try holding the Surface Pro with one hand? if anyone is reading this just know that the lack of bezels make it almost impossible to hold like an actual tablet.
You're not wrong. However, and I can only speak for myself, I never use it like that. It's a 13-inch tablet with a built-in kickstand, so I use it sitting up on its kickstand or flat on a desk/table or my lap. When I do use it handheld, I usually grip the keyboard cover.
They compare by price range, a 16 inch m3 max 36 gb ram 1 tb is 3,500 dollars, the 15 inch surface laptop on the 12 core elite with 32 gbs ram and 1 tb is 2099 dollars, you can literally almost buy two high end surface laptops for one M3 Max Mac
I’m using autocad 2025 on the base Surface laptop 7 and it works extremely well. I believe they’re using emulation to run it now, but Autodesk is working on a native ARM Version. Hurts battery life but easily gets 8-10 hours of battery with CAD on full brightness.
As of now I would say no. When more firmware and app updates are released, I would say yes. So, give it a good 6 months and these PC's should perform significantly better.
The keyboard & pen are a money grab, a more fair price for the keyboard + pen would probably be $250. However, there are almost no other detachable fast laptops on the market like this one.
I'm still looking for an answer on the use cases for Surface devices. So hinges exist, making the kickstand borderline insane and preventing the device from being used in very common laptop places (like laps, laying down in bed, etc) On top of that windows still does not have a touch interface, making the tablet detachment pointless. Can someone enlighten me? Are people really dying to have a disembodied screen without a proper operating system?
Windows has a touch interface. I don’t know what you are talking about but you can comfortably use the Surface Pro 11 without a keyboard, mouse or pen. How do I know? because I am using the Surface Pro 11 right now.
You obviously have used a Surface Pro before just based off your statement. And since 65 to 70% of the world uses WINDOWS, and more fortune 500 companies uses the Surface Pro than any other computer makes your statement ridiculous.
I don’t understand why every reviewer is comparing the x elite to the base m3. If it’s Qualcomm laptop flagship chip, it should be compared to apple’s laptop flagship (M3 max). It’s like comparing a Samsung galaxy s24 ultra to the iPhone SE to say it’s better than iPhone.
