Compared to my jool mission that couldn't even get off the ground, I'm amazed by the incredibly low mass of the craft, the masterful manuevers with minimal, hell, only double digits of Delta V to spare, and the no RCS docking, with minimal engine use. It's incredible how you pulled this off, and the craft looks fantastic. Very well done! I love it!

      not to brag but ive used a whiteboard and some very clever math to land on tylo with an impact mission.
      but it's really a matter of calculating your deltaV and specific impulse against total mass of the craft over distance and speed of the target object. if i may advise. try using a scientific notation calculator, or kerbal calculator the rest of deepspace exploration should come easy. just my advice.

It's been standard practice at my space program ever since the first successful mission to Jool(it was almost a failure due to low fuel, but one of the more insane engineers planed a slingshot off of Laythe to inject with minimal delta-v expenditure. It worked, and the maneuver has since become the standard way to inject spacecraft into the Joolian moon system.

    You blow my mind with every new video. The incredibly precise gravity assists and vessel performance are amazing. The dedication to attempt these missions and the time they take to produce must be absurd. How do you even plan stuff like this?

    • @Stratzenblitz75
      @Stratzenblitz75  6 років тому

      Thanks! To plan this, I broke down the mission into more manageable pieces and worked my way from the top down. First, I built the Tylo lander + tylo transfer tank because I knew the Tylo landing would be the most difficult. Once that was done, I calculated the fuel needed for the laythe section, then the vall lander, and so on. Once I had all the Jool-5 landers built, then I built the mother-ship to carry them and the fuel they would need (+ some more fuel for maneuvering. This was just an estimate).
      Basically, if you have a complex mission that you want to complete, break it down into parts. Complete the parts that don't rely on other components first and work your way down. (For example, build the landers first, not the mothership. If you build the latter first, you might discover that the lander is too heavy for the mothership and then you'll have to redesign the mothership.)

    How have I not seen this before? Beautiful mission! Also a good reminder of the value of keeping total mass down.
    Edit: Forgot to say earlier that I like the simulated glitches in connection with the Vall easter egg. At least, I assume that's what the very strange but mostly hidden feature at the Vall flag plant site is. :) I've always liked the aesthetic of the gold tanks, too.

    Your video has inspired me, so I made the bop 10. It crashed into bop at 5,000 m/s. Very good

    Seriously though, whenever I’m feeling down on KSP inspiration, I watch a few of your videos. It’s, like, insane how good you are at this, and it’s amazing! Thank you.
