Jebediah Kerman admired the ingenuity of the KSP engineers 'rocket on a budget' design. Unbeknownst to him, the majority of the parts were "supplied" from his back yard!
Reminds me of a old TV show. "I wanna build a spaceship, go to the Moon, salvage all the junk that's up there, bring it back, sell it."] - Salvage 1, a spaceship dubbed the Vulture, made from reclaimed salvage and former NASA parts. A cement mixer, a gasoline tanker trailer, and several surplus rocket engines (bought at auction when the space program was in a slump) became the homemade spaceship
If you ever need to see all the parts from one mod again in the future for whatever reason, once you uncheck everything else in janitor's closet just clicking the empty search bar will also show every part in the list.
I wish Micro-Space had lasted long enough as a RL rocketry company to have parody parts in KSP. They were the only aerospace company (with clients!) sponsored by a Baptist Church and did a bunch of innovative/ridiculously dangerous engineering. One big thing was the use of composites in fuel storage designs - the guy actually had a pretty good sideline launching sounding rockets for weather study using these lightweight systems. He was a true space minimalist, as well. The one time I met him he had an on-orbit personal transporter that MIGHT have been able to get itself + a 70-80KG from the surface of the moon to a pick-up altitude for a space-based version of the old Skyhook program they used in the Christopher Nolan Batman movies. It was, well, imagine this but in real life. Angle aluminum channel was used for the primary structural members, along with other POTS hardware used for joints and connectors. The real worrying bit was the use of medical rubber tubing as a stretch material and shock absorber. He was definitely mad, but his atmospheric rockets flew, so he wasn't incompetent.
Ah, this video makes me think fondly back on Kottabos games' showcases. With KSP's future seemingly only secured by the endless passion of modders, it's kinda great to see a revival in mod-based content for the game! Glad that we still get such S-tier content from the GOAT himself!

A smartphone as probe core? Sounds a bit like a cubesat that runs in a Raspberry Pi The potato battery? Well, someone managed to run a calculator on potatoes to play Doom. And I love the Coke & Mentos RCS thrusters
My dreams of getting to the Mun in a Calvin & Hobbes ship can finally be a reality. I wish the mod woud also create a suit variation where it's just a heavy coat with a fishbowl for a helmet.

The irony is, some of the "bargain" parts are actually _more expensive_ than their more "high-tech" counterparts. For example, the space box costs *over twice as much* as the Mk1 Command Pod. (600 for the command pod vs >1200 for the box) I honestly think the mod needs a price rework so the prices for the bargain parts are actually lower than their more advanced counterparts.
